This week has been a whirlwind of emotions, to say the least. Over the past 24 hours, the Internet has become a never-ending stream of the senseless, disturbing murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castille.

In addition to grieving over the continued attacks on people of color at the hands of the police, the recent police shootings in Dallas are enough to make one feel disheartened.

However, in the wake of such tragedy writer and podcaster Heben Nigatu created the hashtag #CarefreeBlackKids2K16 as a means to relieve the tension and burden of the week’s past events. With the hashtag, Twitter users are sharing videos of Black children displaying their joy, humor, intelligence, and overall greatness in spite of the turbulent times we live in.
