Gabourey Sidibe might be the sassy witch from American Horror Story but she’s serving Black angel for V’s 100th issue! On stands March 8th, the Empire actress was captured by photography duo Charles Star and Leonardo Moon Matadin. V100 brings you an all-star cast of celebs, designers, image-makers, stylists and more, presented in a stylish, modern way playing on both illustration and photography.
This is Gabourey’s second feature in the magazine. She was their fashion forward cover model in 2010.
Gabourey’s images’ always looks beautiful and artistic, yet the Internet continues to drag her for her weight. I neglect to understand why we can’t just uplift a big, beautiful woman, the same way we uplift say, Gigi Hadid. No one is side-eyeing her for being skinny. Live and let live. I’m not here for the outright rudeness, but the back handed compliments are even worse. Anything followed by a BUT negates the former statement. Furthermore, I love how everyone on the Internet suddenly becomes a health expert.
Needless to say, some of the Internet still has sense. Beauty comes in all sizes and shapes. Only those with myopic vision neglect to see this.
