Alfonso Ribeiro took time to defend his on-screen cousin Will Smith in the midst of the whole #OscarsSoWhite controversy.

TMZ stopped the actor to ask him how he felt about the Oscars boycott. He explained that black people have “bigger fish to fry than the Oscars.”

The reporter asked if he thought Will deserved a nod from The Academy:

“I absolutely believe that,” he explained, albeit a little biased.

“It is the best work he’s ever done.”

Way to have your bro’s back, Carlton!
