Run DMC is already a ground breaking hip-hop group for so many reasons, and now they get to add another accolade to their list.
The crew is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammys.
Rev Run shared his excitement via twitter:
The rappers will be honored in a cohort of other legends including Earth, Wind, & Fire, Jefferson Airplane and Celia Cruz.
In a statement from The Recording Academy, the organization behind the Grammys, Neil Portnow, president and CEO explained:
“Each year, the Academy has the distinct privilege of honouring those who have greatly contributed to our industry and cultural heritage, and this year we have a gifted and brilliant group of honorees. Their exceptional accomplishments, contributions, and artistry will continue to influence and inspire generations to come.”
