Massive Arrests From Last Year’s Ferguson Protests Yields Charges Too Weak To Uphold In Court

A year after police officers in St. Louis County arrested swarms of people in Ferguson for participating in—or simply being present at—last year’s protests against Michael Brown’s death, hundreds are being served with bogus charges to justify their arrests.
These charges are being handed out even after the state prosecuting attorney and the city of Ferguson rejected the validity of these cases. Protestors are instead being targeted by the St. Louis County Counselor, an institution that protects the local police department in civil lawsuits. Talk about protecting your own self interest, smh.
Most of these people haven’t heard anything about these charges for over a year until now, and a good portion of these people don’t actually live in Ferguson. This means they would not only have to pay any relevant court fees, but they would also have to accommodate for travel costs to address the charges. Read more at the Huffington Post.
