Authorities have ruled that the death of a Black man found hanging from a tree in Georgia was suicide.

The public was heartbroken and shocked to find out that Roosevelt Champion III had died by hanging.

NBC News reports that the results of a forensic autopsy have determined that he killed himself. The Georgia bureau of Investigation explained in a statement, “After a thorough autopsy examination, there was no evidence of any inflicted trauma to Champion’s body.”

Still, Champion’s family has their doubts about what the agency found. “I’m angry, I’m angry because I don’t have answers,” his sister Miranda Wrighttold WXIA in Atlanta. “He do a lot of things but he wouldn’t have harmed himself, I doubt it.”

Meanwhile another one of his sisters, Terri Johnson, was still trying to make sense of how he died. “He’s always happy,” she tearfully told the NBC affiliate. “He tries to help everybody. He never harms anybody … He didn’t deserve to die like that.”
