Detroit resident James Robertson’s commute to work just became a bit easier. For 10 years Robertson would walk 21 miles to his factory job in Rochester Hills, Mi after his 1988 Honda Accord quit working 10 years ago. Robertson’s story made headlines when the local newspaper brought his story to the spotlight, revealing how the 56-year-old man would being his trek at 8 AM to make his 2 PM shift. Soon afterwards, Evan Leedy, a 19-year-old Wayne State University student decided to spring into action to help Robertson. Leedy started a GoFundMe to help Robertson get a car to get to his job at Schain Mold & Engineering which has since netted, $344,405. Now, Robertson will rest easy for his travel to work. According to the Detroit Free Press which first ran Robertson’s story, is reporting he is now the proud owner of a brand new Ford Taurus!

A Ford dealership in Sterling Heights, Mi heard all about Leedy’s fundraising efforts and wanted to help by giving Robertson the car. Why ride in a Ford Taurus, when he could get any car of his dreams? Robertson quipped:

It’s simple on the outside and strong on the inside — like me.

So what’s going to happen to that money raised for Robertson to get a new ride, now that he got one for free? He gets to keep it! All the money will go towards maintaining and insuring the car, along with Robertson getting health and dental care and other things down the line for himself.
