The woman brutally beaten by a California Highway Patrol cop has just reached a huge settlement in her case against the agency.

During a summer when reports of heinous police brutality were endless, the public was still flabbergasted to see video of a highway patrol officer pin Marlene Pinnock to the asphalt and repeatedly punch her in the head.

KTLA now reports that Marlene, 51, may now be getting some justice for the July incident in the form of a $1.5 million settlement from the California Highway Patrol. Commissioner Joe Farrow said in a statement that settlement “establishes a special needs trust for Ms. Pinnock to provide a mechanism for her long-term care.”

“When this incident occurred, I promised that I would look into it and vowed a swift resolution,” CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow said in a statement cited by KTLA. “Today, we have worked constructively to reach a settlement agreement that is satisfactory to all parties involved.”

Supposedly, the violence was sparked by Marlene pushing officer Daniel Andrew, who was trying to keep her off the road and out of traffic. He took things too far by chasing her and then hitting. Following his inexcusable behavior, the Associated Press reports officer Daniel Andrew will be tendering his resignation for assaulting Marlene.
