“Sometimes when I’m getting ready for a Twyla Tharp ballet, I put on some Drake,” says Misty Copeland as she gushes about her crush on hip-hop’s boy wonder of the moment.  Copeland, 29 has quite the eclectic taste in music which is fitting for a classically trained ballerina who performs with American Ballet Theater and The Dance Theater of Harlem.

As the first African-American soloist at ABT in over 20 years, Copeland has already made history and hopes to become the first Black principal female dancer in the company.
