FROM USATODAY: Common has landed his first leading TV role.
He has been cast in AMC’s new pilot Hell on Wheels, a Western that centers on the building of the Transcontinental Railroad. The musician/actor most recently starred in the movie Just Wright, playing a basketball player who falls in love with his trainer, played by Queen Latifah. He also appeared in the Date Night with Steve Carell and Tina Fey.
In Hell on Wheels, he’ll play Elam, a freed slave who comes West seeking work on the railroad. Production is scheduled to begin in August in Alberta, Canada.
