Prescriptions aren’t the only health factor that affects your hair. Missing out on supplements can be stressing out your strands. C
elebrity stylist Whitney Eaddy, who earned the nickname The Growth Guru for her work with clients like SZA and Demetria Obilor, reported on the most common vitamin issue she sees in her clients.
“So what I see a lot with black women, a lot of us have low D3. Your D3 levels can greatly affect your hair and also cause hair loss. The iron is a big one too. I talk to my clients about that a lot.” Eaddy pointed out that a lack of iron contributes to breakage as well. “If you have an iron deficiency and D three, your hair’s gonna grow, but it’s gonna break as much as it’s growing.”

And if you’re going to go by what influencers recommend do yourself a favor and pay attention to those with your exact hair type.

“Getting regular trims promote healthier, stronger, more vibrant hair. They can quickly add freshness to a hairstyle, and enhance your curl pattern,” said Branch. Neglecting to make trims a habit can lead to long-term hair harm. Renowned stylist Jessica Kidd said, “Routine trims are key to retaining length. Trims turn into needing a haircut when you neglect.”

Heat damage is a major cause of hair breakage. Using a flat iron without protecting your hair can be bringing stress to your strands. If you’re ready to get that blowout so you can do your annual length check, make sure you are also using a heat protectant. And try abandon adding silicone products to your routine.
The Growth Guru advises you to think twice before rejecting silicones. “Silicones get a bad rap. You need silicones when you use heat, you just need good ones. You’re looking for a kind of silk serum or you’re looking for a spray that has light silicones.”
