It takes a special kind of woman to be a Libertine Girl. Are you diva enough to rock these daring Libertine looks?
Johnston Hartig, brought bold surrealism to the runway this season, complete with extreme makeup and nails. Inspired by Hartig’s desire to take the traditional Libertine girl on a global adventure, each model stomped down the runway with a unique set of nails dripping in gold from CND, striking dark makeup from the MAC Pro Team and a 1970’s oblong shape around the eyes. He topped off the look with magenta madness neon pigment in the middle of each model’s center hair part.
Each outrageously dramatic look that hit the runway, on the women’s wear models, was coupled with embellished stockings, lingerie slippers, retro purses or funky sunglasses so bold and fabulous, you couldn’t help but to do double takes. The collection also included remnants of vintage pieces, fur collars, and patches up-cycled to complete each new look. Oversized graphic prints with catchy pop culture phrases like, “Off the Hook” covered a number of a-line coats, jackets and sweatshirts. In this collection we also loved the series of capes, dresses and jackets with iridescent alphabet crystals, our favorite being a red cape with sayings like, “Get Smart,” “Grand Champ” and “Get Snappy” all over.
So if you think you have what it takes to be a Libertine girl just be prepared to make a eye popping, traffic stopping statement wherever you go!
