As a new parent it could be daunting planning a 1st birthday party. I am here to say it really not as daunting as you may think. Here are some great tips that I think will lead great success.

1. Choose a theme – This is probably the hardest part of planning any birthday party. There are so many different themes to choose from. My rule of thumb is always choose a theme that your child gravitates too. Rather it’s a color or a cartoon character. Party City is usually the first stop, but I also go to Etsy.com to get ideas. Once you choose a theme, stick with it and start the next step.

2. Don’t Go Over Board – It’s very easy to go over board when planning a 1st birthday party. Keep it simple. All you need is food, cake, entertainment and family and friends.

3. Ask for Help – Since you are new at this don’t be afraid to ask other parents help. They are going to be your best resource on everything birthday. Most likely they will know what entertainment to hire, where you should get the cake, who does the best decorations, etc. Ask for help!
