Lauren Lake knows a thing or two about adversity and dimming one’s light. As the judge on Paternity Court, she sees it in her cases all the time. One person might feel shame for having to even be a guest on her show, but Judge Lake believes that no matter what you go through, it’s all a part of your story. And that’s what makes you, you.

“The truth is key to a brand new start,” she once said. Lake says that you are the author of your own story, and it’s your job to tell it to the masses. Turn your page, and begin to write the life you want.

“The bottom line is, it’s up to each and every one of us to write our own story and to tell our own story. And because of that, we’re able to let our light shine, our passion, our purpose. Our presence on this Earth will mean something. Ultimately, I hope my legacy is that I’ve lived a life without limits. That despite what anyone has told me, what I could or could not be – that I should or should not be – I wrote my own story, I told my own story, I lived my own story.”

What’s your story?
