NEW MUSIC: Solange’s “Stillness Is The Move”
Solange has been in and out of the studio, while still doing performances all over the world, working on her currently untitled third studio album. For those who don’t know, she recently parted ways with Interscope Records.
When asked about the direction of the third album, Solange said that the new record will pick up where “This Bird” – the last track on her acclaimed “Sol-Angel & The Hadley Street Dreams” album – left off. She’ll be experimenting with more electronic and down-beat elements. There presently is no release date for the album.
“Stillness Is the Move” samples Soul Mann & The Brothers’ “Bumpy’s Lament” – you’ve heard it on Dr. Dre’s “Xxplosive,” Lil’ Kim’s “Drugs,” Erykah Badu’s “Bag Lady,” and Mobb Deep’s “Back At You.”

I commend her for being different and for always bucking the trend. Numerous artists have resisted the urge to be carbon copies of whatever was out at the time, Prince, Micheal, Janet, Kanye, OutKast, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and countless others and they’re all doing fine with audiences who will follow their music. People diss her and want her sister to be the end all be all. Now if she makes a cd sounding like her sister, you all would say she sounds just like Bey, or she wants to be like Bey, or she’s jealous of her sis so she wants to sound like her. Let her do her and you…well continue to dress, act, talk, and be just like the next person…or better yet…just click on more stories over there>>>>>>>>> and diss mo’ people.

Wellllllll, I think her singing has “potential”. HOWEVER, I am not certain where she was trying to go with this song & neither did she. It makes no sense to me. The beat & melody was decent but unfortunately it is not original. Sounds like someone doing karaoke to me. Not impressive (smh)!
