Is Halloween An Excuse To Dress Like A Slut?
Picture this: It’s Halloween and you’ve thought of the best costume ever. You spent hours sewing and constructing that ghoulish zombie costume but when you step outside you notice that everyone’s half-naked with what is a poor excuse for a costume on the streets. Then you think: should you have bought that sexy cheerleader costume you saw at the store??
As a 20-something-year-old female I’ve done a lot of growing up the past few years and I have to say that Halloween has definitely turned from something that used to be fun and creative to a public display of sluttiness. Since when did it pass as a costume idea to run around in booty shorts and a bare midriff? Why is every costume you can find at the Halloween store a “sexy _____”? Why can’t I just be a regular referee or Little Red Riding Hood without being a sexy one?
***Editor’s Note: I tried to look for slutty costumes with BLACK models and there weren’t any. SMH…
My guess is that many people feel Halloween for adults can’t just be about dressing up as something fun, we have to take it an extra step further. However, I feel that it shouldn’t just be women who have to fall into the slut trap. If women are pressured to be something attractive for the Day Of The Dead then men need to step up to the plate and dress up as a hunky firefighter or drop dead gorgeous policeman. Maybe if the fellas did try to be handsome when they dress up they’d have a better chance of hooking up with that cute Playboy bunny.
I don’t have a problem with women wanting to be sexy for Halloween but there’s a fine line between being cute and walking down the street ass-naked. Remember, what you conceal can be more sexy than what you reveal and if you look like a ho then you’re going to be treated like a ho. Is that what you really want?

It would seem that Halloween is a very good excuse to dress like a stripper or s**tty something! I am so sorry, what happened to creative costumes that did not show the undercut of ass?!!?? And I hope that anyone wearing these costumes did not wear them around your kids, that would be tacky as hell!!!

I went to an all sexy holloween party one year. Every one was dress sexy and their out fits were wild. I was dress like Pinky( with the pinky wig and rainbow thigh high socks). Of course i wore some booty short. It was all in fun.

Some of those are cute, not s**tty…but to answer your question YES. It seems that a lot of Halloween parties have the “pimp and ho” themes or just an excuse to get your freak on. What happened to the traditional halloween parties?

Face it these days do we really need an excuse and do we really only dress that way once a year. For some reason when I was in high school, we had to dress like preschoolers and my best friend and I chose to where short dresses like toddlers with the matching underpants and suffice it to say most people were disappointed in me and never expected me to dress that way the dress was up to our wazoo and people said “come on you didn’t dress like that when you were younger.” and we wore pig tails and bows in our hair. So yes we do use these occassions to dress this way to get out of our comfort zone and out of the norm.

Dang…I thought one of the ideas and fun parts of Halloweens is that you can be anything you want to be for one day or dress anyway you want for one day, and society don’t ridicule you about it…I guess I was wrong

Rihanna did not invent halloween and the customs that comes with it. Dressing like a s1ut or any character goes way day since we started celebrating halloween so save your celeb-worshipping comments to yourself. I like Rihanna but if you wanna go there, My God mother that stays in England, have been there,done that with the design haircuts and edgy trend-setting outfits back in her 20’s and have the pictures to prove it.
