Gayle On Oprah: “If We Were Gay, We’d Tell You”
Rosie O’Donnell may have ruffled some feathers last week when she said that the relationship between Oprah and bestie Gayle King looked like more than just friendship to her. Gayle recently blasted the rumors of a same-sex romance between the women in an interview, claiming she and Oprah have nothing to hide.

She said (via ShowbizSpy), “The thing [is], if we were gay, we would tell you. We would so tell you. We wouldn’t try to keep that a secret because there’s nothing wrong with being gay. So if we were, we would tell you. The truth of the matter is we’re not. It’s hard enough for me to get a date on a Saturday night as it is.”
Gayle continued, “This isn’t a rumor I’m trying to continue to explore, but no there’s nothing, there’s nothing wrong with it. I love that question. That never bothers me because it’s so silly.” (via Zimbio)

Ok i’m old school. I grew up in a world with heterosexual black women (good friends, mom, grandmom and great grandmom) actually kissing each other on the lips with a lot of appropriate touching. These days someone would be screaming they were molesting us kids and sexing each other. I’m so sick of the homophobic b.s. going on and all the other whitewashed mentality black folks have learned to exhibited. Every time I see blackfolks focused on the b.s. makes me wonder how much relevant stuff is sneaking buy while we focused on b.s. I damn sure don’t see anyone marching in the streets in protest of all the exhibitions of police brutality. Has anyone heard anymore about that 84 year old lady beat down in the Ohio walmart parking lot? did anyone write their representatives to influence the direction of obama’s health bill? Is anyone boycotting/protesting the garbage products selling everywhere that are made in china? Is there a BLACK VOICE anymore?

Friendship between African-American women has always been deeply profound. It’s that sistah/friend thing that we have. As the latest statistics reveal — 70% of all African-American women sleep alone, but what the statistics do not reveal is that we are also acting as matriach over our families, raising, nurturing, loving and financially supporting our children — ALONE. Sistah/friendships have provided the VILLAGE that is needed to raise healthy, strong and confident children. With so many African-American men absent in our homes, we have had to be the support and foundation for each other.
As far as Gayle and Oprah are concerned, I do not believe they are engaged in a homosexual relationship. Oprah has always been honest with us about everything else from: rape, incest, abortions and drug use, why then, would she adamantly deny having a homosexual relationship. Homosexuality is not frowned upon anymore. She wouldn’t lose her career. Ellen is openly gay and has one of the most popular talk shows currently airing on television today.
Rosie O’Donnell needs to get a life. Her career is in the toilet, and she thinks by “outing” someone as popular as Oprah that she can get some much-needed publicity, and obviously she was right — because every media outlet covered this comment. Rosie is a has-been and a wannabe who will never be again!
Oprah is a billionaire. She and Gayle became friends when Oprah did not have a pot to piss in, or window to throw it out. The friendships that you develop prior to fame and fortune are of paramount importance because you know that those friends love you for you, and not what you have. Both Gayle and Oprah were struggling journalist in Chicago, and they supported each others careers, objectives and dreams. Gayle and Oprah are sistah/friends. They love and trust each other as many black women who have formulated solid friendships do. I don’t know why we have to try to make it more than that.

OMG…so f*****g ignorant! Back in the day, women who had close friendships were not accused of being gay. Nowadays, if two women give each other a hug, people automatically assume they are f*****g! The same thing could be said about two men who are best friends who dap each other up and give each other hugs. You must be gay too because you have love for your homeboy!
