the light skinned dark skinned thing is such a slave mentality. we are all black folk and come from the same roots.

Meagan Good, Michelle Obama, Naomi Campbell and Toni Braxton are not dark skinned. Who cares though. Black is beautiful, no matter what the shade. Let’s stop the self hatred!!!

ummmmm 85% of these women arent even dark skinned, and most of the ones that are aren’t lovely…Foxy is just ugly, Oprah’s not lovely…she’s rich…Alek Wek is dark, no doubt…but she looks like Kueth Duany(google him).

this article with the photos of these women just show me the scarcity of lovely dark skinned women out there…I see Naomi and Gabrielle, but thats just 2. the rest of these women are light brown/caramel skinned, not dark.

What matters most is what you think of yourself. I learned to love the skin i’m in. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so if you don’t think i’m beautiful then hey my beauty not beholding to you. Move on and do what you do. I love my big lips and the gap in between my teeth. In my family it’s different shades and hair of different grades. I agree with JJ_lawva’s comment: ya’ll are being too sensitive and taking away from the positive in this article. I don’t see what’s wrong with the comments left by Vancouver, either. I understand dark-skinned chics face unfair challenges as compared to light-skinned chics, but why do ya’ll have so much animosity towards us? Vancouver do you work for blackplanet?, lol. It’s called people having an opinion. The title of the article is called Dark & Lovely and is a so called tribute to dark skinned sisters and as far as the majority of the commentors can see myself included most of the women on there are NOT dark skinned. If the title would have simply been Black and Lovely a tribute to black women the comments would be different. No one has to agree with you and you dont have to agree with us it’s called having an opinion.

you guys take this article too seriously. who cares if the girls on the slide are not dark as night?! how can hellobeautiful possibly find women that look as dark as or are darker then alek wek and grace jones? would u all be satisfied if all the women on the slide looked like alek? hellobeautiful tried their best to find dark women so say thanks to them for showing us these beautiful women.
