Solange Is Dropped By Her Label
Beyonce’s younger sibling, Solange has severed ties with her record label Interscope Records.
According to aceshowbiz.com, her departure from the label comes on the heels of the poor performance of her only release on the Universal-owned imprint, ‘Sol-Angel & The Hadley Street Dreams’, which to-date as sold in the region of 150,000 since it’s release in August 2008.
Solange released a statement,thanking two executives from the label for giving her opportunity as part of the family.
She stated:
“I thank Ron [Fair] and Jimmy [Iovine] for believing in me as an artist and supporting my journey…and have nothing but respect for the Interscope family.”
“I’m excited about continuing to dive in, experiment and creating music and art with no boundaries, fears or expectations. Gonna be fun folks. Thank u all so much 4 da suppoke chop:) all supportive comments coming thru Gonna REALLY b up 2 U guys 2 carry on the spirit of the music.”

The problem is SHE’S NOT BEYONCE. She will always be in the shadow of Beyonce . She should just find something else to do.

I think that she shot herself in the foot when she went on the t.v. interview and wrongfully accused the t.v. reporter of asking her questions about her sister and Jay-Z. Solange was trying to be protective of her sister, but she came across as very b***hy. This was around the time her cd dropped, so I think she became a turn-off to a lot of people who could have potentially bought her music. The fact remains is that Solange’s music is different…more poetic and less mainstream than Beyoncee’s; any negative publicity would have taken people off the fence and turned them off.
Too bad though…There are quite a few of her songs that are very catchy and I love their retro flavor.
…On another note, I don’t like her short afro…it doesn’t flatter her features. I think the afro should be grown out a bit more or she should go longer. Just my opinion though

I think she tries so hard not to be like her sister so she can’t be compared. She just doesn’t get the airplay that others do.

Not that surprising.
But honestly, this is not that big a setback for Solange. The industry has been dragged kicking and screaming to an interactive, online infrastructure where the tech places the consumer in charge. iTunes, iPods (and other players), and ringtones matter more than CD sales, and music videos are getting the most shine online instead of on-TV. And terrestrial radio is getting beat back by internet streaming, satellite, podcasting, and smartphone apps (all without FCC broadcast content rules).
There’s opportunity to be had as an independent artist. Solange can do just as much or just as little as she wants if she wants it enough.

I like her her music and her personal style. People need to be open to different types of music and stop comparing her to her sister. Solange is more original.

Her CD wasnt actually that bad..it was actually pretty good…but ii dont think ppl respect her as an artist..its another jessica and ashley simpson thing..one sister has to out shine the other..

If she were allowed to do her thang without the assumed pressure of having to stay out of the lime light to which “only” has room for her sister Bey, then she wouldn’t be dropped. Her music don’t get played because her daddy wants it that way. If he could do all he has done to make his Bey the “queen” then surely he could HAVE done the same for Solange.
