Idris Elba Says Beyonce Is A Machine
Hottie Idris Elba who is featured in the current issue of Rolling Out magazine discussed working with co-star Beyonce.
Here are some excerpts from the interview:
Elba’s take on the film receiving a PG-13 rating …
“The process of making a movie with Beyoncé was unique, just because she’s such a huge superstar. So when I first looked at the script, I thought the film could have and probably should have received an “R” rating on subject matter alone. But Beyoncé has such a responsibility to her younger fans that I believe it was necessary for them not to try certain things because of that responsibility.”
Connecting With Beyonce…
“I think this was a very important role for her, because it was the first time she wasn’t playing a singer. But when we first started taping, it was difficult for us to really connect as artists because she has such a huge machine behind her. So in the early going it felt divided … almost like it was her and her team on one side, and everyone else on the other. But once the cameras started rolling, she really opened up and those walls began to fall. As a result, I really saw her grow as an artist, and I think you’ll be able to see it as well when you watch the film.”

The one thing that I look for in a actor or an actress is that they bring life to the character(s) they play. I’ve seen the advertisments for this movie, && I must say that I didn’t think she brought life to the character. She says “You think yu crazy, i’ma show yu crazy.” and it’s hard to believe that she would actually do it. In my opinion she should stop acting…it’s not her forte.

I’m not hatin on B, but as tough as it is for black actors and actresses you cant tell me that there is someone out there thats who isnt better and more serious about acting and in need of a job. Its just like when they say rappers are taking the roles of actors who need or could use jobs…now some actors im cool with but others, please..B is cool in movies but this role right here needed someone better…I still love B, think she is the bomb but thats another black female actress out of work…

The 1st comment by “MagicallyTasty” was DEAD ON!!! Beyonce is a great performer (if that is your brand of entertainment) and can sing. HOWEVER, she is a HORRIBLE (piss poor to put it nicely) actress. Her fans need to except she cannot be the jack of all trades. Hell, very few can. Jamie Foxx is one of the few I can name that is great at it all (acting, singing, and his comedic efforts). She may be a workaholic but she needs to put in more work in her acting or throw in the towel. I consider acting a “natural” talent (just like singing) and either you have it or you don’t. I don’t see any Oscar nominations in her future…this is one craft she has not honed!!!

Insulting…Anyone who knows anything KNOWS Beyonce is NO actress; not even close. She brings no life/depth to the characters she palys, and hams everything up..She even hams it when she sings; her “greatness” as a singer is brainwashing a la Matthew..If it wasn’t, there would’ve been no need to shed the members of Destiny’s Child that had the “it factor” that Beyonce lacks…Too bad for the rest of us that her hubby and her daddy are ramming her down our throats, while there are truly talented singers out there that we would enjoy FAR more….Sigh…
