Diddy’s Stepson Sends Letter To Dad Al B Sure

Say what you want to about Diddy, but you have to admit he’s a good father to his kids. Stepson Quincy Combs who is the biological son of 80’s singer Al B Sure has always been extremely close to Diddy. Diddy event went all out on Quincy’s 16th birthday party (which Al did not attend) and gave him a 1964 Lincoln Continental, inside remade.

Quincy recently wrote a letter to his biological father that you must read:

A Letter To My Father

I’ve been inspired throughout my life by special circumstances and unique experiences. Foremost, I grew up with a family that injected me with unconditional love and enduring confidence. This is my foundation … the family holidays and celebrations with my maternal lineage … supportive smiles in audiences at school programs … guiding hands to complete homework and special projects in the wee hours of the morning.

However, I grew up without my father, an irreplaceable force and influence that was absent in my life. I watched other kids enjoy the embrace of theirs, and I searched for a way to reconcile the meaning of my circumstance. Despite my pain, I’ve imagined a life as a good son with my father. Baseball … Playing in School Band … Church … All of the things that he would expect his son to do, I’ve done. I’ve stood in front of audiences to receive awards. I heard their applause and praise. But, the accolades have been absent the sound of his clapping hands and encouraging words … his voice that I could distinguish in my sleep. Where has he been?

Now, I reflect on the journey, the pain, the challenges, and the triumphs through this song. I’m reconciled as a man, no longer a boy, in verse. Now, I know that I’m not alone.

Albert Brown, also known as “Al B Sure!” is my biological father, but Sean Combs, also known as “Diddy” has been a father figure in my life for as long as I can remember. Sean Combs is the person whom I look up to and appreciate as a father. He is the one who help mold me into the person I am today and will always try to live up to his expectations. He has always been supportive of me and I will forever love and respect him. As far as my biological father goes, the “spitting image” is all I have taken from him. Throughout my life, I’ve always wondered about him; Where he was? What was he doing? and most importantly, Was he even thinking about me? The absence of my father has given me a better understanding of what type of man I am going to be. I am grateful for my mom’s love, support, guidance, and for her strength.

To those who share my plight, know that you have a great future … a DESTINY. Take the lemons that you are handed and make lemonade. Your journey is in “A Letter To My Father.”

To all those fathers out there, step up your game!!!

That was very well written. I can feel were he’s coming from but at least he had father figure in his life unlike me. No matter how much I dislike Diddy, I do respect him for stepping up to the plate.

you know this is a good story and i can relate i haven’t seen my father in 35 yrs but i have had a step father that i have known all my life i am leaving in two weeks to go to mississippi to meet my real father side of the family for the first time in 35 yrs i am a whole nother life to them and i am excited but nervous to meet them but i said that to say this i still recognize my step father as my real father but i am going down there to get closer so big ups to quincy

I USED to be a Al b sure fan. I jsut lost all respect 4 that man. nNig, if u can b there for your 1 eyebrow, u can be there for your son. The box curl is over!!! y yall still tryn to ressurect it? let it go!! cant stand men like that. But quince, keep ya head up. Al dont know what he is throwing away. Im glad to hear a story like this one, although I always had both parents in my life…Prior to me my mother had two older sons and even when my parents split my Father was still always there for them doing for them as there so called daddys should have Financially and Emotionally Im glad to see there are other MEN out there that are the same way

OMG. This letter brought tears to my eyes. My son is 17 now and has had a Pop-Tart father (my ex-husband) in and out of his life. Just not dependable. My son considers his uncle (and godfather) his Dad. And that Uncle is my ex-husband ’s older brother.

Although neither he nor Diddy are perfect in their actions with women in their lives, they’ve been there. No excuses, no stories. JUST BEING THERE IS WHAT COUNTS!

Dear Quincy, your letter is very inspirational to me. I am not young, but I have been a fan of Al B. Sure’s since a teenager. His music inspired my life and I thank him for that. I still listen to his music today. I am also a fan of your stepfather. He is a great artist!!!!! However, I also grew up without my father in my life, but I do have a relationship with my father, one noone could separate. I know I am not a star or whatever, but I grew up to be a wonderful person and was a wonderful kid as my mom says. What I am trying to tell you whatever his reasons may have been do not let that stifle your life, be the best person you can be!!!!!!!!!! I did!!! My mother and father had a bad break-up and I have suffered every since but you seem grounded and wonderful, so stay that way and seize your life and become that special someone you are developing into. I like what you wrote and I visit my father, but he never visited me when I was young, but hey, that’s life, trust me, you will be great.

See I don’t like a lot of things about Diddy but this is one reason why I can’t really get on him. He stepped up and was a father to another man’s son. I will always give him respect for that combined with the fact that this is one thing he does with NO PROMOTION. He never makes a big deal about this, just does it like it is normal and the right thing to do.

Nuff Respect from one of his harshest critics.

I know exactly what he is feeling… my father has caused me some incredible pain, and I’ve had to carry some enotional baggage, but like Q, I ‘ve found strength in knowing that God strengthens me in me weakess moments… Greatness is calling me.

I totally feel u. Stay up Q. I share the same “spitting image” situation. My dad was cross country as I was coming up. As a grown man, we’re getting to know each other as grown men. It’ll happen. I didn’t really have pain, because I met my sibs on my dad’s side kinda early. I was doing ok. I was like, 10. And I knew they needed him, too. but anyways. Thanks if u ever read this. At least Diddy can one thing right. lol!!! But this a good letter though. I grew up with both parents. So I never had to go through being fatherless.
