UPDATE: Brandy Settles Lawsuit With Accident Survivor
UPDATE: Brandy just settled her wrongful death lawsuit 11 days ago and according to TMZ, she has now settled the lawsuit with the accident’s survivor.
“Brandy has just settled a lawsuit filed by a survivor of her fatal 2006 car crash.
Mallory Ham, who suffered facial injuries during the crash, including a severely broken nose, just settled with the singer for an undisclosed amount.”
This is not good news for someone who just got dropped from their label!
Maybe she will become a rapper after all!
ORIGINAL: Singer-actress Brandy, who has spent the last few years dealing with a wrongful death nightmare, has agreed to settle with the children of the woman killed in the auto accident in which the star was driving.
According to settlement documents obtained by E! News, the kids-Mrwan and Kareem Mohamed-will each receive $300,000.
The boys, who were then 15 and 11, were in the family’s Toyota Corolla when it was struck by Brandy’s Land Rover, killing their mother, Awatef Aboudihaj.

If a car hit Brandy and she hit another car…the original car that started the chain reaction would be responsible for every other car involved. Apparently this isn’t the case. Here is the story:
The accident happened at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 30, 2006, on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles. Brandy was driving her 2007 Land Rover (at 65 mph) and ((did NOT notice)) that cars in front of her had slowed considerably, law enforcement sources told TMZ.
((BRANDY’S vehicle)) struck a 2005 Toyota, according to TMZ. ((The Toyota then hit a 1989 Toyota.))
::::The 2005 Toyota then slid sideways and hit the center divider. As the 2005 Toyota came to a halt, it was struck by a 1988 Acura::::
The driver of the 2005 Toyota, Awatef Aboudihaj, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition and she died the next day. Aboudihaj, a 38-year-old married mother of one, was a Los Angeles resident.
So–BRANDY was TOTALLY at fault and unfortunately for those children left behind…$300,000 is a very small price for such a HUGE loss. The loss of their mother. My prayers go out to those children and all those injured.

SHE didn’t pay it. Her insurance company did. The payout wasn’t based on (her ability to pay) or her income. Doesn’t matter whether or not she is with or dropped by a record label. It’s all about what her insurance policy covers…

whaaaaa i knew she was in a car accident, I didn’t know she killed somebody!?!?! all of the reports I am reading states that she hit a car causing a chain reaction, I’m sorry but to keep it 100 somebody can’t rear-end somebody in nice whether unless they are being negligent, following to closely or not paying attention those are all negligent acts (celeb or no celeb/nice people or unpleasant people), I mean she deserves to pay every bit of it probably even more (I know if that was my mother) yes accidents happen all the time but we all have to pay what we can afford the court aint gone make an individual pay an amount they will never be able to pay, and brandy is a celeb so she is going to have to pay celeb money, i mean nothing has or is going to change, the more u make the more you pay simple as that…but I am happy she was fortunate to handle it in this manner because some people couldve made this process a lot uglier, but may the woman who died rest in peace and I hope the children will live their life without hatred in their hearts.

Im sooooo glad people understand this case and what Brandy and her family have and are going through over this…. she is a lovely young woman, and far from cold hearted! Can’t wait to see her at Milwaukee pridefest this weekend!

Jail time for what? I was an accident yes her car hit the other therefore making her liable but doesn’t make her negligent…600,000 is probably more than they would have gotten if their mom was still alive, why should she have to pay 1,000,000 just cause she got it (accidents happen all the time)…it’s a sad incident and I feel for the children that lost their mother, that is a tragedy within itself but to have to live with the fact that they were a witness to the whole thing is beyond traumatic, no amount of money can even begin to make up for that type of pain or replace their mother…all the people involved need constant prayer not ridicule and judgement.

what, bad point Zeru…it was not Brandy’s fault, she was targeted because she has money, a car hit her, she hit the the other car, it was a 3 way accident! No amount of money can bring back the mother, but Brandy tried…$300,000 each child is more than enough, put it in a bank, get some interest and pay for college or put it together and buy a house! something…

if anyone else was in an accident like this, who would get insurance money and settlement money from the actual person who caused the collision?
Not to many people walking around with $600,000 to give to surviors of accidents they invoked.
