Singer Lalah Hathaway’s father Donny Hathaway was an incredible soul music artist who has been name checked by Nas, Amy Winehouse, Common and Jim Jones. His influence can be clearly heard in the style of modern day crooners like John Legend and Music Soulchild. It was a pleasure to sit down with Lalah Hathaway and discuss her current musical project Self Portrait. Her voice is melodic and she is a gorgeous woman with a beautiful soul-the perfect heir apparent to such a throne. I love her confidence and unapologetic flavor, and it was wonderful to learn about her father’s work. Watch the video below…
