Did Aubrey F Up Danity Kane?

Wow. There’s a lot of hating going on, enough to go around for everyone I suppose. I just don’t like it when someone passes off their hate as fact, and a lot of the hate that’s been mentioned on these posts have very little to do with facts that are widely accepted by everyone who’s been keeping up with all this Diddy/Dawn/O’Day/Danity Kane drama.

Fact: ALL FIVE of the women who became a part of Danity Kane are talented. Despite who shoulda-coulda-woulda made the band, the performers who did have one album certified platinum and another certified gold prove their talent. And anyone who has seen DK perform can attest that they were on point on stage and in the videos, hands down. Everyone obviously had their favorites, but that’s kinda the purpose in promoting a group: some fans will gravitate towards Paul, some towards John, and hell, even some towards George or Ringo (the Beatles, people), but the business idea is that the group could be easier to sell than the solo artist, because their is something for everyone in it. The shock that reverberated throughout the industry when DK was dismantled was a result of the affinity that millions of fans for the women individually and the group as a whole. If you’re a hater, hate on, because that’s your job and that’s all you’re good for, but don’t try to spit your hate as a fact because there are millions of people who are begging to differ.

Fact: Both D. Woods and Aubrey were working on solo projects at the point where Diddy released them from their contracts, even though DK’s second album had not penetrated the 600,000 mark in sales. I don’t know, but if you’re supposed to be pushing a million-dollar promotion, as an artist and a person in business, that project should be focused on and not anything else. At least not until you are released from your obligations under the contract you signed.

(Though I’m not hating on either D. or Aubrey. What’s good is that now they’re in the position to do what they want. If they’re that hot, then they will achieve the solo success I’m sure they had dreamed of. If they aren’t, they won’t. Apparently, the industry buzz is that we’re about to see.)

Fact: It is not a fact that Dawn disparaged, disrespected, snitched on, hated on anyone of her bandmates. There is no evidence for that whatsoever. There is hearsay, but it could also be argued that (from what aired on the show) Dawn was the only member of DK who didn’t flinch. When times got hard, every other member of the group had a complaint or acted like they had options to do something else. Dawn seemed like she was the group’s only evangelical, and did what she could to bring feuding sisters together to work out their issues for the survival of the group and out of loyalty to Puff and to the fans. EVERYONE ELSE FLINCHED…check the record:

- Aundrea debated early on about leaving the group and going solo a la Nicole Scherzinger.
- Aubrey was doing her thing, point blank, and was secure and unapologetic about wanting more independence from Diddy.
- D. Woods is said to have been in league with another girl group called The Girls Club during the drama (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danity_Kane#2006.E2.80.932007:_Danity_Kane)
- Combs thought Shannon was “a pleasure” to work with, and of her “had no complaints” until D. and Aubrey were fired, and then she closed up ranks with her legal team, dissed scheduled appearances, and refused to release her image on the MTB4 show until she too was allowed to be released.
- The name “Danity Kane” itself was the name of a comic book-styled superheroine created by Dawn, which Diddy took on as the group’s name. It’s appropriate to me that Dawn ended up naming the group, because she appeared to be the one most invested in it, and the one most passionate about it staying together, regardless of what Puff had her doing on the side with his new band, Dirty Money.

So let’s not blame DK’s premature breakup all on one person; not Dawn, not Aubrey, not Diddy. As I stated in a related post, Berry Gordy couldn’t stop The Supremes from imploding just like Diddy couldn’t stop DK from imploding (http://hellobeautiful.com/your-world/whats-danity-kane-up-to-these-days/#more-438697). Such is the nature of the fickle ass music business. But I wonder if those of us doing all the criticizing have any idea what it takes to run one of the most influential record labels of the last 15 years? And what would you do if you had artists in whom you invested millions of dollars and staked your reputation as a “starmaker” on who didn’t do what they were supposed to do or bucked against your vision as the group’s creator? I can tell you this: if I’m paying the cost to be the boss, then it’s my way or the m*fing highway, real talk.

One day I’m gonna pull up next to one of you Diddy haters in your car, and you’ll be bobbing your head to some JoDeCi track or Player’s Anthem, or Show Stopper, completely forgetting that it is Puffy’s musical expertise and hard work and money that made that song or that artist one of your favorites. Turn on the radio for more than 30 minutes…whether it be 90’s old school or Day 26, you’ll hear a Bad Boy track.

But here’s one more time for your mind: In that same 15 years, with all of Diddy’s artists who came and went, one thing is true: he’s still here. We’re still talking about him. He’s still relevant and making stars, making hits, and making money. No matter what you think of his failures, he MUST be doing something right. Hate on that.

Wish I could edit posts. In my last post, I mean to write that Aundrea was my favorite singer…not Aubrey (she could barely singer) but had lots of personality.

Danity Kane just showed us what really happened to TOTAL (anybody remember them)… U can’t be bigger than Puffy and still make it on his label!! I hope Day 26 is taking notes and keeping up with their receipts!! LOL

DIDDY DIDNT DO IT HER, HER BIGGG ASS HAIR AND HER BIGGG ASS HEAD DID IT. SHE LET THA 5 MINS OF FAME GO TO HER HEAD!!! SHE REALLY THOUGHT SHE WAS BIGGER THAN THAN THA GROUP SHE TOOK A BLESSING AND TURN IT TO A DISASTER!!!

I don’t blame Aubrey. Even though Dawn my girl from New Orleans. Diddy don’t know how to talk to his artist. Bad Boy had Lil Kim, 112 and Loon that left the company. She took her time to shine and ran with it. That why she have a nice car and three nice cars. while everyone else from DK is worry about there future income.

I dont know what happend on the INSIDE, but all the bands that he “MADE” seem to mysteriously BREAK UP after their 1st or 2nd LP….

DAY 26’s days are numbered….

MAKING THE BAND is a reality TV SHOW….yall need to realize he gets paid everytime an episode is AIRED….therfore he dont really need them to sell ALBUMS…which would be a PLUS……and fine and dandy, but he is makin BANK just off the MAKING THE BAND SHOW itself..

however, MYSTERIOUSLY these BANDS don’t seem to stay together and all we see on TV are the arugments and the finger pointing….but what is DIDDY DOING?

Like I said, I dont know s**t, but what I DO KNOW is that these bands seem to MYSTERIOUSLY BREAK UP after the shows over and no more RE-RUNS can be played on MTV anymore….

I sure wish I could talk to DYLAN, NESS, CHOPPA, BABS, Ol boy from MIAMI and the light skinned girl from DETROIT and ask them what REALLY HAPPEND. Since they couldn’t say what they wanted to in front of the camera. I’m sure they got A LOT OF S**T TO SAY. I’d really like to hear their TRUE STORIES as to why DA BAND was broken up.

AUBREY is just what you see in front of the camera, but WTF is really HOOD? SERIOUSLY……….dont be surprised if DIDDY dont make ANOTHER BAND and they MYSTERIOULY LOOSE a member or break up entirely!!

i here some folks talking like they hung with these ladies! u can’t blame one person for the break up.it takes more then one person to fight duh!this is entertainment the t.v is going to show u drama cause that’s what make people watch..since when does a reality show have views if drama is not involved!there is no drama there is no ratings.

YEAH! I like Aubrey but I think she had the most issues in causing the breakup she’s the one who changed her whole persona. I saw the first episodes where she was trying to make the band after they broke up and i couldn’t believe that was the same person. I think Diddy tried to tell her one too many times but being Aubrey she didn’t listen soooo there u go. Also I think that she’s jealous of Dawn and she went out to do other things to try and equalize herself with Dawn. She got a lot of fame but she had to show her azz to get there. Dawn took the high road cuz she’s so talented and didn’t have to go there to get where she deserved to be. On her solo tip

why is dawn hating…she lucky because she the only one that diddy likes well enough to hopefully make something work with….it’s a long shot, but, nothing is impossible.
