I’m Not Here to Save You
I never claimed to be an expert. That’s where a lot of dating and relationship bloggers get it wrong. I write about topics that come up with my girlfriends, the many men I‘ve dated or my brutally honest homeboys (who I group together under the character Manny). What a lot of so-called relationship columnist aim to do is save you. They put on a red cape and think the words they write will make your life better. Not the case with …Says The Single Girl.
What I do is present a different way of viewing things. I say what you wish you could. With STSG it is what it is.
Being a woman of color in the dating blogging game I‘m determined not to sell a bill of goods or ask my readers to join hands or get on our knees and pray for marriage, the white picket fence and 2.5 kids.
I never question why we are single. I know why I‘m single. I‘m single because I‘m not ready to do the things that make it easy for a man to be in my life. I‘m a little dramatic, not quite ready to play house, and like variety. It took me a long time to discover that answer. I implore you to do that same.

What you won’t find here is my sob story, tales of my dates gone wrong or love lost.
You are going to love me one day, hate me the other, wish you had my “balls” the next and call me out in the street for a brawl on another.

MochaSoul09_ Honey that is just hitting your 40’s. It’s aboutknowing who you are , what you want and need in order to be happy in life. Some folks aren’t cut out for marriage. Some live with the same person for years w/out marriage; while others just date. Stop hanging with so many couples (or women on the hunt), and lose the “i don’t need a man to do ….”speech. You’re defending something you don’t need to do.

Ever listen to a group of women b*tch & moan about their past dates? It’s always, “He was too ‘this,’ or not enough of ‘that,’ or I didn’t like his…..” It’s MY observation that any woman who says she wants “honesty” is the biggest liar of all…especially to herself. Women don’t want “honesty;” they want what THEY want. Honesty includes accepting someone for who he/she is, that includes any perceived faults (or don’t women have any themselves?).

I myself could not agree more with…Says The Single Girl. I use to honestly think there was something wrong with me because a few of my associates were married or getting married or just getting REAL serious in their relationships while I was enjoying dating different men. Why? Because I, too like variety and I am in a stage in my life where there’s nothing a man can do for me that I can’t do for myself. Hell, these days, a sista can’t even count on a man for good sex!! I’m not ready to compromise who I am for a man and a lot of whom Ive met are always trying to challenge my independence. I am who I am and loving it. I don’t try to change them, so why try to do the same with me? Meeting different men is very intriguing to me and the several times I have been almost engaged to get married, I feel myself literally getting medically sick and longing for companionship from another brotha. Someone comment and let me know what you think..am I in need of a psychological evaluation or is this the norm for women in my age category these days? Im 42 and where I live in the South, women are looking to be paired up with their significnat others like Noah’s animals on the Ark!!
