Can Diet Soda Keep Kidney Stones Away?
Say what you want about diet soda, but it might actually help your kidneys in the long run! A new study shows that drinking diet sodas may help ward off painful kidney stones. Read the Health.com article below.

Drinking diet sodas, especially those with a citrus flavor, might help ward off painful calcium deposits known as kidney stones.
The drinks contain citrate, which is known to inhibit calcium formation, according to the authors of a study that was to be presented Sunday at the American Urological Association annual meeting, in Chicago.
And there’s more good news in the drinks department: A second study being presented at the same meeting found that pomegranate juice might slow the progression of prostate cancer.
Some 10 percent of people in the United States will form these calcium deposits, known as kidney stones, at some point in their lives. In as many as a third of the cases, it’s because they do not urinate enough citrate, said study author Dr. Brian Eisner, a clinical fellow in urology at the University of California San Francisco and an instructor in urology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, in Boston.
Potassium citrate and other pills can help alleviate the problem, as can a special lemonade drink (rich in citric acid) concocted by one of Eisner’s co-authors a decade or so ago.

Look up Aspartame. It’s in almost all ‘diet’ food products and gums and other candy. This is known to give CANCER to anything it was tested on; very harmful to our bodies. But yet we consume it on a large scale amount, just research Aspartame, it’s a deadly chemical.

Wow their duping the public with this s**t….why not just by citris fruit,potassium from bannaas, and pomegranate juice? I would just buy a juicer and mix it if I dont eat it seperate. Diet sodas aint good for you who they think they fooling. It is like wine…it is not the wine thats good for you it is the antioxdiant within the wine. They say that red wine ads 5 years to your life..it’s all bulls**t!

Hmm, I learned something in nursing school… Citrate “which inhibits calcium formation”; ALSO BREAKS DOWN CALCIUM IN YOUR BONES! DUH! Diet soda is awful for your bones! I’ve had kidney stones AND broken bones, and I’d rather have a few more stones than suffer from broken and week bones. Thanks.. Lol. If you want healthy bones and reduced risk of kidney stones, take calcium with vitamin D. Calcium alone is pretty worthless, as you need vitamin D to help you absorb it. If you absorb the calcium like you’re supposed to, you would not have a build up of it in your kidneys. Because careful with vitamins though, because you CAN overdose on fat soluable vitamins. [A, D, E, K] ASK YOUR DOCTOR… Please don’t take tips from articles without consulting YOUR physician…

I only drink diet soda…good looking. I used to be a really big dude and I accquired a taste for diet soda while losing weight. reg soda adds a pound on a week.
