At the Thakoon show, while Tracey was snapping photos of his to-die-for disco ball shoes I was chatting up Joy Bryant who just happened to be wearing a Thakoon for Target black tie-dye dress. And, let me tell you, it took a great, great deal of willpower for me not blurt out “Joy, you are SHUTTING it down.”
Not only was Joy sporting the designer’s unfortunately sold-out dress, she was wearing a chunky necklace that was also from Target. You know what that means: the Zoe likes Target too! Just when we thought we couldn’t heart her more…
Interestingly, Joy also mentioned that Rachel Zoe (her stylist and our demi-goddess) is full of genius style tips including that she calls “the nipple check.” “I don’t really like to wear bras, so Rachel always does the nipple check before I head out the door,” shared Joy. Being a lady and all, I didn’t inquire after her current bra status, but instead very quickly turned the conversation to her printed dress. When I asked how she thought one should pull off big, bold prints, she said “Keep it simple everywhere else,” then pointed to her own black tights, black booties and thin delicate rings. Words to live by ladies!
