Since color contacts by FreshLook became available in 1984, women of color – including Naomi Campbell, Lil’ Kim, and Ziyi Zhang – have been eager to experiment. “Our largest market is with dark-eyed and dark-complected women,” says Jeff Cohen, vice president of global marketing for CIBA Vision (makers of FreshLook), citing African-American, Hispanic, and Middle Eastern women as the top customers in the U.S. “Color contacts are huge with Middle Eastern women because their clothing often covers everything except their eyes. It’s one of the only ways they have to express their originality.”
With this uniquely exotic notion of lighter eyes coming into vogue, colored-lens users climbed to 2.7 million in the U.S. alone last year.

I had green contacts when I was in high school. At the time, I thought they made me more beautiful
I have relatives with blue and green eyes. I ended up flushing my green contacts now i am happy with my brown eyes!

oh yes I also forgot to mention my paternal grnadma had green /hazel eyes she was born with and so did her maternal uncle, so when I was a child I always wanted those colored eyes to b like her and I do look like her so much genetically so when they came out with hazel green and grey, i bought them and received so many comment and complements about them . my paternal relatives kept saying you really look like your grandma now with those eye, and we all would laugh, i would say she has hers naturally and I paid for my and switch them 4 different occassions. her eyes changed color in her moods , woo-wee ,blue when she was sad and green when she was angry, normaly they where hazel grey ,lol. vj

i think that changing your eye color with contacts is the same as wearing sunglasse, hair weaves, hair color change and any other accessory change that u like to do . beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if u like and it complements u then do it. I have been in the beauty field for over 30 yrs from cosmetology school and on, and i have seen it all ,its a personal choice ,if it makes u feel happier and u know why and r confortable with it and yourself ,then do it for u,not 4 someone else.I think when u wear cosmetics, it brings out your complexion and natural featues even more. even when I just arch my brows I feel prettier, because , hey are groomed and neet and shape my face, jsut like when a man shaves and lines up his hairline and beard he looks well groomed.this life is so short if good grooming and enhancements make u feel better and its not harming u then by all means, go ahead and better your physical apperenace, PLEAS!!!!! vj

There are people with blue eyes in Nigeria. My wife told me about them and I did not believe her until I saw a man one day with deep blue eyes. I embarrassed myself staring at them because I could not believe what I was seeing.
We also have a family friend whose wife has the same color eyes.
This article reminds me of the Washington Post article where Lil Kim says she didn’t think she was beautiful in school because she didn’t have blond hair.

I’m a dark skinned complexion woman with green eyes. Almost everyday I have someone ask me where I get my contacts from because it looks so natural. My daughter is dark skinned with baby blue eyes and she get the same comments. I seen some women who experiment with colors and they look crazy. I say be happy with what you’re born with.

I hate that black woman are
trying to be other that black with fake hair and their eyes a different color. I am a black woman but My eyes are green and I don’t wear contact lenses to make them that color I was born with them When I was growing up people would ask me were my eyes real are contact, This is before contact lenses wear even on the market. I think people who wear contact lenses not to see with but to chance eye color are not happy with who their are may be this is why they do this.
Thanks to tv blue eyes blonde hair, thin lips and no hips is pretty but a person of color with full lips and hips eyes of brown or black or even hazey is not pretty this is why some many woman of color try to chance themself I guest If I had a daughter I would teach her that she is beautiful inside and out but let the beauty with in shine on the out side. Tv even single out the whites people with hair that is brown or black they don’t get a lot of roll and they don’t last long on show Hollywood is full of S__T!! And this is sad, no one is better than any on I don’t care what your hair skin or eye color is we all bleed the same color blood RED!!!
