Even the happiest person is bound to have a bad mood everyone once in a while. Most people can usually shake them off easily, but sometimes when you have a particularly nasty encounter with someone, or you just didn’t get your way you might feel resigned to stay in a funk all day long. But that’s not so, and if you’d like to feel better you can.

In recent years “Laughter Yoga” has soared in popularity around the world. While it might seem a little dorky, it works. With this technique you can truly alter your mood in only a couple of minutes.

Here’s how:

1. Find a private space (lock your door, close your blinds). Yes, there is something wrong with the fact that other people might think you are crazy if they see you laughing!

2. Lie down with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.

3. Set a timer for 1 minute. Over time work up to 2 minutes.

4. Close your eyes and lift your feet up. Start peddling your legs like you are riding a bicycle.

5. Start laughing. Fake it ’til you make it. Keep laughing. Pretty soon it will be the real thing.

6. Stop when the timer goes off, or you may just wish to lie there, chuckling to yourself.
