From TheCut: Tyra Banks recently revealed that she toned down her look for the next season of America’s Next Top Model, in which André Leon Talley takes a seat on the judge’s panel for the very first time.

“This is the most clean you will ever see me in the history of ‘Top Model.’ I am wearing a chignon every single day. I went back to Yves Saint Laurent 1991, honey. I said, ‘This is André Leon Talley! No earrings, no nothing. Just me and the gahhment.’”

Last night following the Blonds’ fashion show, Jay Manuel explained,

“What she means by toned down is she wasn’t wearing any kind of weave pieces. She’s got her own natural hair. She’s still got a lot — she’s still got her makeup on and she’s still Tyra. But it’s kind of more that French sophistication as opposed to that kind of Tyra-fied look.”

He also spoke on the new addition to the “Top Model” Team. While they were filming in New Zealand, André would visit showrooms of young designers and bring him back presents.

“He’d be out there and say, ‘Oh, these glasses are so Jay Manuel, he’s gotta have them.’ And I’d come back and they’d be in my trailer and I’d be like ‘André!’ He really is all-knowing. I mean, he’s super-articulate. He’s phenomenal. But I know with a lot of these fashion people we kind of think they’re snooty, it’s an elitist club, but he really isn’t. He’s a sweet pussycat — he’s not this big roar kind of like following Anna Wintour.”

Last night, supermodel (and super businesswoman) Tyra Banks appeared on the Larry King Live show and, amidst talking about Chris Brown, Oprah, and trying to teach him how to “smize,” Tyra discussed hair – again! Watch the clip below:

Larry King: Are you looking to be Oprah? Is that it?
Tyra Banks: Am I looking to be Oprah? Oh, Lord, if I tried, I would fail.
King: But you’re approaching it — magazines, shows, specials. …
Banks: She is like the — the Godmama, you know? There will never be another. There never has been and never will be another. But looking to be her — no. I mean, I — I started as a model, so there’s a path that’s quite different.
King: The last time you were on you were dealing with the “F” word, meaning fat. You were fighting back. There [was] a non-flattering tabloid photo of you — remember? In the swimsuit?
Banks: Yes.
King: You lost weight since then.
Banks: Yes.
King: Do you still feel an image pressure? Do you think — you think like a fat person?
Banks: I don’t actually. You know, when I — when I told the world to kiss my fat — I can say “ass” right?
King: Yes, you can.
Banks: Yes. When I told the world to kiss my fat ass, I remained that size for two years. I maintained it with my ice cream and my salad with ranch and dressing and croutons and bacon bits. Like I — I didn’t look at myself even on television and think that I was too big or — I don’t know. I didn’t — it didn’t connect. But since I have lost a lot of weight, and it started with the — a weight loss challenge, actually at the top of this year. So I’m two years after “kiss my fat ass.”
King: When you look in the mirror, are you happy with the way you look?

Banks: I always feel great when I don’t have clothes on. So at home, by myself, walking past …
King: Oh, we’re glad you mean that now.
Banks: Just too much information. But I always feel good that way.
King: So you don’t look at yourself nude and say, “Oh, I don’t like this.” You like it?
Banks: No, unless the lighting is bad in the dressing room. But, no. I always feel good. But sometimes certain clothes, when I put them on and they don’t fit the way that I would like them to, that’s when I tend to get self-conscious.

Is actress Joy Bryant throwing shade at Tyra Banks? The actress recently blogged about Tyra’s National Hair Day on Essence a few days ago and went in on Tyra, while celebrating her own weave. Joy wears a weave?? Who knew!!! I can usually spot a weave a mile away, but I had no clue Joy was part of the club.

Here’s what she posted:

National Real Hair Day? I missed that one…In fact, on National Real Hair Day, I was calling Extensions Plus in L.A. to make sure they had enough of the 20″ “relaxed roots” texture hair that I love oh so much (and that keeps selling out like crazy!), and making an appointment to get my hair, I mean, my weave, hooked up.

So Tyra, while I didn’t take part in your observance, I just want to say: “WOW!” You are such a brave woman for breaking the chains that bound you since your teenage years! What courage that took, for you to expose yourself to millions of people! Such fearlessness! Oh, how I wish I had the guts to do that. I guess I’m much too much of an insecure, self-loathing Negro for all that self-acceptance foolishness.

I’m glad we got down to solving the mystery of what’s under your lace-front, though. I mean seriously, it was “THE” question that has perplexed the world over. And now we see that there’s a beautiful head of hair underneath it all, hair that was surprisingly relaxed and ready for the world. Whodathunkit?!If I had the same length and fullness of hair that you have, I might take my weave out too.

Ha!!!! I’m just playing! Even if I DID have your “real” hair, I’d still be wearing a few tracks or clip-ons up in there.

Now I guess I can get help for my self-loathing addiction.I can learn to accept myself in my entirety. I can emancipate myself from that which keeps me locked-up. I can embrace the natural state of things.

Yup, I can do all of that…

But don’t hold your breath!

Our girl Kelly Rowland has been really trying to step up her game recently. First she got a boob job then she took her locks from short to long. We applaud her efforts to be “fierce” but there’s something not quite right about the situation. Kelly’s recent appearance during NY fashion week had us clutching the pearls because she looked a hot mess!!! What’s up with the half fringe and those glasses?? The thing that worried us the most is that her hair looks like someone just slapped some yaki on top of his head. We don’t think there’s anything wrong with a little bit of weave but there’s definitely a right and wrong way to wear your extensions. This is the WRONG way.

We don’t know why these girls think this is a good look, but LaLa Vazquez has followed in Cassie’s footsteps and shaved her head.

She posted this picture to her twitter page with the following message:

Cassie started the “MOVEMENT” i did the “LA LA REMIX”..lol..who will be next..? feels good to let go!!

LaLa says the hair that was cut off will be donated to Locks Of Love, an organization that takes donated hair and makes wigs for cancer patient.

Toni Braxton is a lot like Tyra Banks – every time you see her, she’s got a different hairstyle! That’s the beauty of weaves and wigs – you can reinvent your look whenever you’re in the mood for a change. But I’m not so sure about this new look Miss Toni’s rockin – I know everyone’s going for the Barbie look these days, but it seems kind of corny to me. I think I prefer Toni’s shorter styles, but maybe that’s just my own opinion.  Pretty dress, though!
