To celebrate the honor of Iman receiving the Fashion Icon Award at this year’s CFDA’s, Barneys New York creative director Simon Doonan dedicated two of the store’s Madison Avenue window displays to the supermodel and mogul.

The display included collages and cutout images of her; while the other showcase a Bruce Weber portrait of Iman with quotes about her from style luminaries like Diana Vreeland and her hubby David Bowie.

The display was installed last night, May 11.

Yesterday marked the eight-year anniversary of the passing of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Left Eye was known as the “crazy” member of the groundbreaking trio TLC, and together they went on to become the biggest-selling female group of all time in the United States with 22 million albums sold.

While vacationing in her favorite getaway spot, Honduras, Lopes was driving a rented SUV with at least seven (possibly eight) passengers. Reportedly speeding, she lost control of the vehicle, which flipped over; she was the only member of the party to be seriously injured, and died from severe head trauma on April 25, 2002.

R.I.P. Left Eye.

We already reported that the supermodel was honored with an ELLE Style Outstanding Contribution Award for her work in modeling and philanthropy. In her acceptance speech she paid tribute to late British designer Alexander McQueen. Still, Naomi’s tribute goes far beyond that. According to Elle,

The supermodel has been paying tribute in more than words, and probably more fittingly, by wearing the designer almost non-stop since he died. Naomi was snapped coming out the the New York Alexander McQueen store the day after Alexander ‘Lee’ McQueen died, and has donned the designers spring summer collection at most fashion events since.

She made sure his collection was the major draw at her Fashion For Relief show last week which raised funds for mothers and children affected by the disaster in Haiti. Naomi herself, Kate Moss and Pixie Geldof all modeled Alexander at the show, while Naomi then wore another of his pieces sat in the front row of Christoper Kane’s catwalk show yesterday.

Campbell and McQueen were close before his death, so its fitting that she would honor both their friendship and his creative genius by wearing his designs.

On Sunday at the Grammys, viewers will get a chance to see never-before-seen footage of Michael Jackson, during a tribute to the late great King Of Pop.

Some of the clip will feature material from the documentary This Is It, but the majority will be a 3-D video that MJ shot for “Earth Song,” a track off his 1995 album, HIStory. The show will also feature performances in honor of MJ by Jennifer Hudson, Usher and more.

But there’s one singer that wasn’t chosen to contribute. Here’s what Omarion had to say about being snubbed:

“If I’m not a part of that, then that’s not… I’m not gonna say it’s wack, but I’m just saying, everyone knows what I do, so if you gon’ have an MJ tribute… I take that back because Stevie [Wonder] did an MJ tribute. Everyone loved Michael. I’m not gon’ say that. I’m just meaning the performance [aspect]. How you gon’ have a Michael tribute without the playboy? [Laughs].

That’s my only thing, and I mean this in the humblest and the most competitive way. I’m competitive — that’s what the game is about. Especially after Mike passed away, I feel like the stage, it’s more important now. It’s a responsibility to me when I hit the stage to not play with it. If you walk back and forth that’s cool, too. If that’s how you entertain, that’s cool, but for the performances and for the dances and for the people that look up to Michael in the fashion I look up to Michael? I hope they bring it. Because if they don’t, then I will.”

This once-in-a-lifetime performance (audio and video) of the Simon & Garfunkel classic “Bridge Over Troubled Water” will be made available for download at iTunes/target.com following the telecast, and all proceeds will go to the American Red Cross, benefiting ongoing earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. This year marks the 40th anniversary of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” receiving GRAMMY Awards for Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, and Song Of The Year, and the song will provide a moving tribute to the survivors of the tragic events in Haiti.

The music industry’s premier event will take place live on Sunday, Jan. 31, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on the CBS Television Network from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Today is the birthday of singer Aaliyah. She would have been 31, but she tragically passed on August 25, 2001 in a fatal plane crash while in the Bahamas. She was there shooting the video for “Rock The Boat,” which was released posthumously.

Aaliyah was truly one of a kind, as she seamlessly blended the concept of street and sweet together in both her music and her style, making her a favorite among men who wanted to be with her, and women who wanted to be her (or at least be friends with her). The soft-spoken songstress was a trendsetting triple-threat whose talents never appeared to have gone to her head.

With her still living in our hearts and in our memory, we wonder what she would have achieved had she still been here.

Sean “Diddy” Combs flipped out Saturday night when guests at a Michael Jackson tribute party did what they were supposed to do when celebrating the King of Pop’s death by, wait for it….. enjoying his music.

According to the NY Daily News:

Diddy became irate when party guests at L.A. hot spot MyHouse seemed to be having too much of a good time while celebrating Jacko’s life.
Toward the end of the evening, the rapper abruptly stopped playing a remixed version of “Man in the Mirror” to dedicate a moment of silence to the singer and then told guests like Queen Latifah, Taraji P. Henson, Wesley Snipes and Hill Harper, “While you guys are talking and laughing, you’re not hearing his words. You’re not listening to his words. I need you to hear what he’s saying! Listen to the message that he is telling us.”
He then resumed his lecture while blasting “Mirror” at full volume, shouting over the music, “Michael, I hear your words — I hear what you’re saying!”

According to reports, Sunday night’s BET Awards will be dedicated to singer Michael Jackson, who died on Thursday, June 25 at the age of 50.

BET Networks’ CEO, Debra L. Lee, said the awards show,will pay tribute to Michael’s legacy.

We’re also hearing from ybf.com, that Justin Timberlake and Usher will pay tribute to Michael with performances and Beyonce and Ne-Yo have totally revamped their sets to pay tribute.
