Singer Monica is approaching the foolish bar. She is now dating basketball player Shannon Brown. Now, I am not going to emphasize on the rumor that he supposedly was in a relationship with his baby mother when he and Monica began dating. Whatever works for them. What I am concerned about is the fact that the two have not been dating for an entire year and she already has his name tattooed on her wrist. What! Why girl?! There is nothing that that man could have done, within a year or so time, that is so amazing and life altering, where he now deserves his name physically placed on her for life.  Or any amount of time, for those who will argue that she can get it removed.

My point is that it should not be there at all. At least not at this point in the relationship (for those who are into tattooing in the name of love). After only dating for about a year, I am unconvinced that any man, especially one that is not yet your husband, deserves this show of devotion and adoration. There is nothing that any man could do within a years time to make any woman run out and tattoo his name on her for life, besides dropping some penis in her pants and popping a ring on her finger with the hopes of one day being married.

This is not something that I would advise ladies. First of all, the relationship is still new. So they are still learning about one another. Secondly, there is no need of getting a tattoo to prove your love to any man. Even if you are engaged to him. A tattoo does not solidify anything between a man and a woman. Hell, even a marriage license doesn’t guarantee anything so why in the world are these women getting their man’s name on them? I don’t see the purpose behind it.

This is becoming a trend for celebrity women also as singer Keyshia Cole also has her fiance and baby daddy’s name tattooed on her as well after a short time of dating. But why? What does it prove to the other person? If you use the reasoning that it means that you will be with this person forever then why not just go ahead and get married? I received an e-mail from a dear reader (shout out to Jennifer) who brought it to my attention that MJB Jr. went and got a tattoo of her new beau’s name. In case you didn’t know Key-Key has been dating a NBA player. His name is Daniel Gibson and according to her tattoo, he’s “Truly Blessed”. Yup, that’s what the tattoo placed on the front side of her left shoulder reads: Truly Blessed D. Gibson.

What in the world is he doing that has her skipping to the tattoo parlor? They haven’t even been together a year.

In order for me to even think about putting someones name on my skin they’d better have saved my life. I’m talking blood transfusion, organ donation, bone marrow transplant. Either that or give me million and millions of dollars. Maybe then I’d get their name on my body but it’ll be in a place where no one, not even I, can see it like the sole of my foot or the under carry of my butt cheek.

For the record, I do not have any tattoos and seeing how Ms. The Way It Is chooses to showcase her love and beliefs by inking them on her skin, I’m very content with my decision. UPDATE: A Picture of Rihanna’s tattoo has surfaced and the girl actually has some skill! I don’t really know if it is fits with the rest of this guys tattoos, but maybe all the trouble and legal woes were worth it?

UPDATE: Is Rihanna a good girl gone bad? The cops seem to think so…apparently RiRi may be in trouble for inking three tattoo artists as part of her inking lesson yesterday.  TMZ is saying the Barbadian beauty
could be slapped with three misdemeanors for the offense, each with its own hefty penalty — as much as $300 for the first offense, $500 for the second and $1,000 for the third.

Sources say the tattoo shop could also face considerable fines of its own if the NYC Law Dept. decides to open an investigation.

UPDATE: The NYC Health Department just told TMZ: “Only licensed tattoo artists can administer tattoos in the city according to the City’s Health Code.

Janet Jackson by tattooing a picture of her face on his torso. Her 43rd birthday was last week, and this is apparently his main gift! So does that mean they’re NOT breaking up, after all?

Is Chris Brown moving on? Pictures have surfaced recently of the singer with a new chick. The woman was identified as Natalia Mejia of the girlband Girlicious. The two were photographed Saturday at West Hollywood tattoo parlor Tattoo Mania.

Chris Brown is a hot mess.

So who is this chick?  Natalia is of Mexican heritage and was home-schooled mostly. She has studied dancing since she was nine years old at the Millennium Dance Complex which also schooled Britney Spears.

Chris Brown is denying reports that he’s getting romantic with the singer.  His reps told People magazine:

“Chris was in a Hollywood tattoo parlor with a woman from the recording studio named Dean, who was getting a tattoo. (Chris did not get a tattoo),”

Knowing what Rihanna recently went through with this guy, why would anyone even want to go there?  Is this a romantic relationship? Is this I need some publicity? Let us know what you think.
