I made the most amazing curry chicken dish two days ago, walked into my apartment tonight and guess what, the smell was still there.  Tasty as it was, I need the smell to be gone like yesterday.

When opening the window is not an option, here are a few ideas we rounded up from internet searches:

1) Simmer a pot of half vinegar and half water
2) Simmer a pot of water with lemon and orange peels
3) Leave a dish of vinegar out on the counter overnight
4) Aromatherapy candles or burning oils
5) Saturate cotton balls with vanilla extract and let sit in a dish overnight
6) Oust Sprays, which are said to eliminate odors instead of covering them up
7) The Odor Eliminator Candle, which is said to do the same

Singing isn’t enough for Leona Lewis. The “Pop Idol” winner has written an autobiography at 23, plans to launch a vegan clothing line, and now has her own fragrance in the works.

According to The Sun,

The Bleeding Love chart-topper, a major campaigner for animal rights, is teaming up with top German beauty brand LR to release the self-titled scent.

A source said: “Leona has had a lot of approaches about launching her own perfume, but she wanted to make totally sure she would be working with an ethical company.

“She has had a big hand in helping to create the fragrance and the design of the bottle and now she can’t wait to see it in the shops.”

Leona follows a long line of celebs cashing in on the lucrative fragrance market, including BRITNEY SPEARS, CHRISTINA AGUILERA, KATE MOSS, JENNIFER LOPEZ and, er, KERRY KATONA.

In a promo video for her German fans, Leona said: “I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to work on such an exciting project.

“I am passionate about what I do and it is important for me to give the best I can to my fans all of the time.

“I love my new fragrance and I already love LR.”

The Hackney lass had previously turned her nose up at talk of a perfume deal.

In an interview just over a year ago she said: “I’m totally focused on my music for now. My clothing line won’t be coming out just yet – or any perfume line.”

When you’re in love, everything seems different – and that includes your sense of smell. Women who are deeply in love struggle to recognise the body odour of male friends, but their ability to distinguish their partner’s smell is unaffected.

Body odours are known to play a role in human sexual attraction. But how does falling in love affect our perception and processing of these smells?

To find out, Johan Lundström and Marilyn Jones-Gotman of McGill University in Montreal, Canada, asked a group of 20 young women with boyfriends to fill in a Passionate Love Scale questionnaire (pdf format) to determine just how much in love they were. Meanwhile, the women’s partners and male and female friends slept for a seven nights in a cotton T-shirt with pads sewn into the underarms to soak up their sweat.

In a series of trials, each woman was asked to pick out their lover’s or a friend’s T-shirt from three garments, two of which had been worn by strangers. The women’s scores on the Passionate Love Scale made no difference to their ability to recognise a lover’s shirt, or that worn by a female friend. But those who were more deeply in love were less good at distinguishing a male friend’s odour from those of strangers.
