“The Talls” vs. “The Smalls” On “Real Housewives of Atlanta” [RECAP]

Boy oh boy, this episode of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” was BY FAR my favorite episode EVER! The ladies finally arrive in Africa for their 10-day get-away: a little sight seeing, drinking and of course, fighting. Shade is being thrown before the girls even leave the airport and it’s officially the Talls (Nene, Cynthia and Marlo) against the Smalls (Phadera, Kandi and Sheree). Marlo wastes no time in getting on everyone’s nerves and during the car ride to the hotel, she asks the most ridiculous etiquette questions either to prove her sophistication or just bug the heck out of everyone she’s around. “When someone asks you to pass the salt, do you pass both the salt and pepper or just the salt?” she asks the other girls who quite frankly, don’t care either way. Once they arrive at the hotel, Marlo still won’t shut up, and keeps saying how she doesn’t want to share a bathroom because she “just doesn’t do that”.

“Marlo better be happy she has a place to lay her head because I don’t recall inviting her on this trip.” Phadera told cameras. Agreed!

But aside from Marlo’s chatter mouth, the girls put their differences aside while they’re in Africa and try to tolerate each other. At least for the time being. The next day, they all go on a boat ride where they’re forced to be in each other’s presence for the whole day. They decide that this is the perfect time to have a heart to heart, and lay all their feelings about one another on the table. Marlo brings up her ill feelings towards Kandi (again, Marlo who invited you?), Phadera and Cynthia talk about their issues and even Nene and Sheree discuss the possibility of moving forward and taking things one step at a time. The whole group agrees that for the rest of the time they’re in Africa they will all try to get along. (We knew that wasn’t going to last long)

Once they head back to their hotel room after the boat ride, Sheree, Phadera and Kandi get ready to go to a dinner at Sheree’s friend’s house. The only problem is that Cynthia, Marlo and Nene aren’t invited. At first, Cynthia and Marlo are a little hurt at the fact that Sheree didn’t include them in their dinner plans (and Nene just doesn’t care) but after Sheree extends the invitation to Cynthia and not Marlo, things get ugly!

Marlo, (who wasn’t invited to Africa in the first place) confronts Sheree about not being invited to the dinner, calling her insecure and fake for not extending the invitation. Sheree snaps back with saying that Marlo is the fake one and that nobody knew she was coming to Africa in the first place. Marlo then calls Sheree out for not having a man and then Sheree calls Marlo out for sleeping with 80-year old men! Ding Ding Ding It’s about to go down!

At this point, you needed subtitles to understand exactly what Marlo and Sheree were saying. “Either they were speaking in tongues or Spanish because all I heard was jibberish” Phadera told the cameras. The fighting went on for a good 10 minutes when Nene (wait…Nene!?!) jumped in and tried to be the peacemaker.. Who would of thought?!

Doesn’t Sheree know Marlo has a criminal past? And what happened to Marlo’s etiquette? So much for that…

Any relationship that you find yourself in – dating, family, friends or otherwise – should be enhancing your life, not bringing you down or causing you stress. As I pop my kettle corn and sit in front of the TV to watch shows like Real Housewives of Atlanta or Basketball Wives, I cringe every time a friend turns foe. Almost every other episode, these grown women want to claw each other’s eyes out or bad mouth one another. Most of this is for entertainment purposes, but life imitates art.

Most of us have experienced a toxic friendship or two. Sometimes you may not know it when you see it, but after some time goes by, you begin to realize that not everyone you keep close to you has your best interest at heart. Remember, some people like to keep their enemies closer to them than their friends. In case you’re feeling frustrated in certain friendships, here are 5 tell-tale signs that you need to leave your friend in your past and move forward.

Self Love: There’s a difference between a chatter box and a self-important friend. If your friend goes on and on about herself and you find yourself not being able to talk about you, then you’ve got a self-absorbed fan. Is she always talking about her own wants, needs and problems while skimming over or completely disregarding yours? You need to think twice about that friendship. You should have a bond that goes beyond a one-sided conversation.

Not So Friendly Competition: Friends should never compete. Friendship is not a battle that’s looking for the last man standing. However, women have this unspoken competition going on between most of us. Mild competition between friends translates into motivation to do and be better. But there’s a thin line between inspiration and straight up battling. When you compete, there has to be a winner and a loser. In the end, you both lose because when you compete with your friends, you lose…your friends.

Broken Promises: There’s nothing I hate more than broken promises. Sometimes your friends get a pass because they can’t make it to something they told you they would come to or they can’t do something they told you that they would, but honestly when it’s all the time, you’ve got to cut that one loose. Who wants to always be frustrated by a friend? Frustration breeds anger and if you’re finding yourself lowering your standards of friendship because you know your friend will either cancel or not show up, you’ll never be happy with this person.

The Critic: If your friends can’t be honest with you, who can? You should always count on your friends to give you the 100% truth. However, being too honest can sometimes come off as criticism. The only thing wrong with criticism is when it crosses over from constructive to destructive. You can tell the difference. If your friend is constantly telling you things that you need to change or fix about yourself and they aren’t able to take any type of criticism from you, your friend is destructive. Think about it, do you want to constantly feel defensive when your friend is “only trying to help”? (You know, that popular phrase your criticizing friend uses.) I think not.

Blabbermouth: Your friends always get to know the nitty gritty about you and your life. You trust these people with your deepest darkest secrets, or at least you should. When you tell your friend something and it somehow magically makes its way back to you, you know for sure that it was that friend who spilled the beans. This is unforgivable. Trust is everything in any relationship and once that’s broken, it’s difficult to get it back.

Last night was a BONUS episode of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and in case you missed it, you missed Sheree and Phaedra get served by Sheree’s ex-husband, Bob, in court. Unfortunately, Sheree and her ex-husband are still battling each other over child support, and when Bob beats Sheree to the punch by filing a petition to reduce his child support, Sheree hires her friend and lawyer, Phaedra to help her out with the case.

Phaedra reminds Sheree that she still has the option to throw Bob in jail for failing to pay child support for the past four years, but who wants to see their child’s father sitting in a jail cell? Sheree decides to go ahead and take Bob back to court in attempts to get a substantial amount of child support for their children.

Kim’s Baby Shower Turns Into A Complete Disaster! “RHOA” [RECAP]

According to the housewives, the court system in Atlanta usually favors men especially high profile men like athletes which put Sheree in a tight situation. Although Sheree was nervous about the upcoming court date, Phaedra reassured her that everything would be okay, and to let her do all the talking.

The day finally came for Sheree to face her ex in court, and although she was teary eyed, she put her big girl panties on, a pair of low pumps and slacks that hid her “big ol donky booty” and held her head high.

Less than five minutes into the case, Sheree’s ex hands the judge a Petition Contempt against Sheree, claiming that she took furniture from him during their divorce. Sheree wasn’t sweating, yet, as she stated, “Oh no, no, no, my attorney Phaedra Parks got something better for you boo!”

But, Phaedra Parks had nothing. She was just as stunned as we were by Bob’s cleverness and ability to represent himself in court. I guess Sheree should have warned Phaedra ahead of time that Bob was a smart man, and had a degree from Stanford. They agreed to meet in court at a later date, so Phaedra could have time to review Bob’s petition.

Later that afternoon, Sheree, Phaedra and Kandi meet for a quick lunch. Their conversation turns emotional with Sheree and Kandi begin talking about Sheree’s experience in court and Kandi’s experience with trying to get child support from her ex husband for her daughter Riley. It’s an emotional moment for the housewives, and it’s hard to watch these strong women broken down by their ex-men who aren’t active in their children’s lives.

On a lighter note, Kim and Kroy finally bring baby KJ home and he’s as cute as a button! At least one housewife seemed to have a happy episode!

“RHOA” housewife Sheree Whitfield goes in on her ex-husband, retired NFL baller Bob Whitfield when she confronts him about child support on next week’s episode. The two meet up at an Atlanta area park and the conversation begins on nice terms but things take a turn for the worse and Bob ends up getting drenched in water when he reminds Sheree that they spend equal time with their children. But of course that mean’s nothing to Sheree, who is all about the money! (What’s with everyone on these reality shows throwing drinks at each other?)

Sheree enlisted Phaedra to help her legally fight her ex-husband Bob Whitfield for back child support at the beginning of this season. Of course, we’re not sure how Sheree is paying Phaedra, as we’ve never seen her punch a clock.

In case you missed it, on the very first season of “RHOA” Sheree bragged about hopefully getting a “seven-figure settlement” from Bob, a former NFL offensive tackler. That never panned out, and neither did Sheree’s fashion line, so she had to downsize her house in Atlanta, and lowered her expectations.

“When Sheree was going through her divorce, she tried to move into a new home – so she gave NeNe and her husband [who was in real estate] a $5,000 deposit for a new home.” The insider continued, “NeNe made her give the deposit in cash . . . And later when Sheree changed her mind [about moving out], NeNe kept the deposit.”

Plenty of celebrities came out to Philadelphia to participate in the Joy to the World Fest, a series of events designed to raise money and awareness for hunger, homelessness, and other issues related to the city’s difficult economic times.

Sheree Whitfield of the “Real Housewives Of Atlanta” is in financial trouble once again. A few weeks ago I told you her Aston Martin was seized, well now a private investigator she hired to dig up dirt on her ex-husband during their divorce wants to garnish her check from the reality show. According to tmz.com, Sheree hired a private investigator named Dwayne Alexander back in 2005 to dig up dirt on her then-husband, ex-NFL star Bob Whitfield — but according to a court order obtained by TMZ … she still owes him $28,858.93 for snooping services and interest.

Now, Alexander’s gone way over her head to get the money, firing off a letter to Bravo — the network behind “Housewives” — claiming he plans to garnish Sheree’s wages from the show to settle the debt once and for all.

Sheree Whitfield of the “Real Housewives Of Atlanta” had her Aston Martin car taken away this weekend. It was seized by her former lawyer. According to tmz.com, here’s what went down:

Sheree Whitfield from “Real Housewives of Atlanta” better have a Schwinn lying around — because TMZ has learned her precious Aston Martin was seized this weekend … after she allegedly screwed over a former ally.

The people behind the seizure are Whitfield’s former divorce lawyer, who sued the reality star — and won — after she stiffed them out of more than $110,000 in legal fees.

A rep for the lawyer tells TMZ they still haven’t received the money — so this weekend, they had the local sheriff’s department snatch the car up as payment. –

Another Day, Another “Housewife” With Money Problems

During the first season of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” a big part of Sheree Whitfield’s story line revolved around her anticipation of a seven-figure divorce settlement.

She didn’t get it. What she ended up with was $2,142 a month in child support, two cash payments totaling $775,000, a $250,000 share of her ex-husband’s NFL Player 401(k) plan, shares of three other NFL retirement plans, and a 2006 Range Rover Sport.

Apparently it wasn’t enough because according to a report in The Atlanta Journal and Constitution, two separate law firms who worked on Sheree’s case are suing her for $180,000 in divorce-related fees.

She first hired Levine & Smith as her divorce attorney in 2006 against her now-former husband and NFL player Bob Whitfield.

In early 2009, Steve Montalto of Levine & Smith sued Sheree, saying she owed him more than $87,000 in unpaid fees related to her divorce. That situation has not been resolved yet.

He says, she has

“ignored and stonewalled any effort to respond to post-judgment discovery about her assets and income. She thinks she’s above the law.”

He has asked a judge to force her to respond and to threaten her with incarceration.

Her next divorce attorney, Weinstock & Scavo, began working with her in 2007. They have since cited a breach of contract on behalf of Sheree, saying

“Ms. Whitfield has acted in bad faith, has been stubbornly litigious and has caused W&S unnecessary trouble and expense entitling W&S to an award of attorneys’ fees and costs of litigation in connection with this case.”

The folks at Bravo are pushing for the First Lady Michelle Obama to wear RHOA’s Sheree’s She clothing line. According to people.com, Bravo’s Senior Vice President of Original Programming and Development and newest late night talk show host Andy Cohen admits that he’s “obsessed” with She By Sheree, the fashion line from “The Real Housewives” of Atlanta star Sheree Whitfield.

“It is the greatest name for a fashion line ever,” Cohen told PEOPLE at the recent Fashion Group International Night of Stars at Cipriani Wall Street, where he and BRAVO executive Francis Berwick were honored with a Fashion Oracle Award. “I can’t stop talking about it. I’ve done 14 episodes of Watch What Happens:Live! and every episode, I ask people, ‘Are you wearing She by Sheree?’” In fact, Cohen is pushing for the line to make it into the First Lady’s wardrobe. “I had Michelle Obama’s hairdresser Johnny Wright on last week,” he tells us. “And I said, ‘What is it going to take to get the First Lady into a She by Sheree frock?’ And he said that he’s anxiously awaiting what the line presents to see. He said if Sheree creates something great, maybe it will happen. So tonight,” Cohen said. “I’m really pushing for the first lady to wear She by Sheree!’” And while She by Sheree debuted on last month during New York Fashion Week, everyone got a taste of She by Sheree on last week’s season finale of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
