His Story:
About a year ago, Valerie’s younger cousin got married. After that she started taking me to jewelry stores and sending pictures of the style of ring she preferred and I knew it was time to ask!  I knew she was the one — that was simple, but I was extremely nervous ask her.  The proposal happened at my house and when I remembered how much that ring cost, it motivated me to go for it despite my nerves.

Valerie, my fiancé, is very hard to surprise since she wants to be hands-on with everything and do it herself, pulling this off was a challenge. It was our anniversary and we just finished having dinner when I told her that her gift was at my apartment. As we entered I asked had her close her eyes and when I told her to open them, I was on my knee with the ring. She thought she would be getting a Wii, but I think this gift was way better.

The funny thing is, the ring I proposed with was not the original ring I planned on giving her. The original ring was gold with a diamond in the middle, but she sent me a picture of what she wanted, I was lucky enough to be able to exchange her.

Valerie, you are the greatest fiancé and future wife this Haitian gentleman could ever dream to have, thank you!

Her Story:

I have known Gardy for over twelve years. I met him when I was 13 years old playing with my little cousins.   Who would have known we would be getting married!?

Here’s a little secret, my cousin recently married and Gardy thought that after the marriage happened I would start pressuring him on our engagement. But this is not true one bit, he had already purchased the ring because he was ready, though I know he’s going to tells the story differently.

Even though we had spoken about marriage, the day that he proposed still left me surprised. We had just finished having dinner for our anniversary and I was ready to call it a night. Gardy said before he took me home we had to go by his apartment so that he could give me his gift. For a long time I hinted that I wanted a Wii, so I was sure that’s what I was getting.

Once we got inside his apartment, Gardy told me to close my eyes. A few seconds later he told me to face him and open my eyes. There was no Wii but Gardy was on his knee with a ring. My first reaction was: “What are you doing?”

He asked me to marry him and I said “yes!” The ring he also proposed with was the exact ring I showed him.  I love you Gardy!

Valerie and Gardy plan on having their marriage ceremony in 2013; congrats on the celebratory black love!

With the Super Bowl over and the Saints feeling victorious, I decided to pose this season’s one football-related question that remains unanswered: Should Reggie Bush marry Kim Kardashian?

I ask this because it was rumored—rumored, that if the Saints did win the Big Game, Reggie would pop the question.

Now, trying to avoid the obvious – like the fact that some might be put off by seeing yet another wealthy Black man marry a white woman and the fact that it really isn’t anybody’s business but Reggie’s and Kim’s – I got the idea for this topic because my good friend Corey weighed in unsolicited with this, “I don’t want Reggie Bush to marry Kim Kardashian.  I’m not sure how she adds anything to his life.  We know he adds something to hers.”

Interesting, I thought. If I were Reggie, I wouldn’t marry Kim either, but not because she has no talent, no skill, and no discernable reason whatsoever for even being alive. I wouldn’t marry Kim Kardashian because she had sex on film with Ray J.

That would be the deal-breaker right there.

I remember when some guy tried to blackmail baseball star Gary Sheffield by threatening to release a tape of Sheffield’s wife, gospel singer DeLeon, in bed with R. Kelly. Sheffield was as cool as a fan about it. He said that he already knew about the tape; it was something that had been discussed in the marriage and it was a dead issue.

But that was R. Kelly. R. Kelly is the new-age Marvin Gaye. A man can be almost proud of his woman for being in a sex tape with Kells. Or maybe even Maxwell. Anthony Hamilton, at the very least.

But Ray J?

Just imagine you’re Reggie and you’re lined up next season, ready to take the handoff, your new wife is in the stands rooting for you and some fool linebacker from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers starts singing “Sexy Can I”?

You’d have to really be in love to take that kind of abuse.

Was Khloe Kardashian Lamar Odom’s second choice for a wife? Sources are stating that Odom dated and actually proposed to actress Taraji Henson just weeks before getting together with Khloe and proposing!

According to perezhilton.com, former Lakers radio host Matt “Money” Smith revealed the news on Fox Sports Radio’s Petros and Money Show that Lamar had been dating Oscar-nominated actress Taraji Henson just weeks before he got together with Khloe Kardashian.

Apparently Taraji Henson was scared off by Lamar Odom proposing so soon into the relationship.

Can it really be true????  MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind of some EXCITING news, that I can’t confirm, but they’re claiming they got it from a reliable source.  After dating for almost 2 years   rapper 50 Cent has PROPOSED to R&B singer Ciara.

The insider told MediaTakeOut.com that last night Ciara called her mom and closest friends to tell them the good news.

Let’s see if we got this right–JHud’s boyfriend David Otunga proposes to her, she says yes and then 5 months later she proposes to him. Hmmm…

According to people.com, Jennifer Hudson returned the gesture with a surprise of her own: a proposal on Otunga’s birthday.

The Grammy-winning singer did it last month with style, presenting Otunga – a Harvard-educated-lawyer-turned-pro-wrestler – with a personally designed Neil Lane 5 carat engagement ring.

The only hitch was that neither Hudson or Lane knew Otunga’s ring size, and when Hudson gave it to her fiancé last month, it was too big. So last weekend, in town for Hudson’s tour dates, Otunga, 29, and Hudson went to Lane’s L.A. store getting it resized.

Okay that was different!!! We wish the couple all the luck in the world.

Most women spend their entire time willing their partner to propose to them. But there are some who take matters into their own hands and ask the men to marry them.

Actor Michael Jai White’s wife Courtney, got tired of waiting for that special day, so she took it upon herself to ask.

Sometimes a woman has to stake her claim, and that’s exactly what Dr. Courtenay Chatman did when she proposed to hunky actor Michael Jai White nearly four years ago.

Although Chatman understands why traditionalists might view her actions as unorthodox, she never had any hang-ups about popping the question. “I decided I loved him and he loved me, so why wait?” says Chatman, an OB-GYN who proposed to White after a year of dating. “Of course there was a possibility that he could say ‘no,’ but I was willing to take that chance.”

Because White is “unbelievably romantic,” Chatman vowed that her proposal would be equally as innovative and special. That’s when she headed to their favorite Los Angeles eatery, The Cheesecake Factory, borrowed a plate from the manager, took it to the mall, found a similar plate and added a red inscription: Will You Marry Me at the top and Michael Jai White? at the bottom. Everything in place, Chatman invited her man to dinner.

“Normally, Michael eats quickly, but of course, this night he was taking his time and it was nerve-wracking to watch flickers of red begin to show on his plate,” Chatman recalls with a laugh. “I was telling him how much I cared about him and how much he meant to me until I became so nervous that I jumped up, sat next to him, and brushed his food off the plate. Then I got on bended knee and opened the ring box!”

A stunned White beamed a Kool-Aid smile and responded affirmatively. “I was pleasantly shocked and didn’t feel emasculated at all, ” admits White. “I immediately said ‘yes’ because I knew that I was going to spend the rest of my life with her whether we got married or not.”

Nearby patrons cheered and clapped for the lovebirds. “It was so magical,” says Chatman. “I was crying and then we were laughing and crying together while he held me in his arms. He said I did really well in pulling it off.”

To Chatman’s surprise, White insisted that they marry immediately. So they eloped two days later at the Four Seasons Hotel in Santa Barbara, California, with each of their best friends serving as best man and maid of honor. Although the two plan to renew their vows soon so that their family and friends can bear witness to their eternal pledge of love, they are content with their blended family of six which includes their four-week-old daughter, Morgan Michelle,and her brothers and sisters.

“The funny thing is, when Courtney and I started dating she had no idea that I was an actor until a friend of hers told her who I was,” White says with a laugh, “but that’s okay, because she’s my wife now, forever and always.”

When I first read the article below, my first reaction was “oh HELL no.” Being from New Jersey and an avid fan of the Brazilian wax for the past 7 years or so, I couldn’t imagine what I do with my crotch being the business of anyone but me and my aesthetician. However, apparently some people are looking to make going bare illegal in New Jersey. Thank god I moved to New York!

TRENTON, NJ – Things could get hairy in New Jersey this summer for women who sport revealing bikinis or a little bit less.

The painful Brazilian wax and its intimate derivatives are in danger of being stripped from salon and spa menus if a recent proposal to ban genital waxing is passed by the state’s Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling.

Cherry Hill salon owner Linda Orsuto said that women would “go ballistic” if the proposal passed. She said that some women would resort to waxing themselves, visiting unlicensed salons or traveling to other states, including Pennsylvania, in a quest to remain bare down there.

“The clients are going to freak,” said Orsuto, who owns 800 West Salon & Spa, on Route 70. “It’s a hot issue, and we’re going to have to do something.”

New Jersey statutes allow waxing of the face, neck, arms, legs and abdomen, but officials say that genital waxing has always been illegal, although not spelled out.

Regardless, almost every salon in South Jersey, from Atlantic City casinos to suburban strip malls, has been breaking the law for years by ridding women, and some men, of their pubic hair for $50 to $60 a session.

Jeff Lamm, a spokesman for New Jersey’s Division of Consumer Affairs, said that the proposal would specifically ban genital waxing, and was prompted by complaints to the board from two women who were injured and hospitalized. One of them sued. Lamm said that the state only investigates infractions if consumers complain.

Two South Jersey hospitals and a handful of dermatologists didn’t return requests for comment, and another hospital declined.

Dr. Eric Bernstein, a Philadelphia dermatologist, said that genital waxing could irritate or tear the skin and result in infections.

“But you can get an infection from almost anything,” he added. “The state is probably just looking out for the residents’ best interest, but they’ll have to enforce it.”

I say NO.

NO NO NO.

I actually almost thought this was a joke, until I remembered that some laws really are this ridiculous. But what I do know is, if this proposal is passed, not only will there be thousands of pissed off women roaming around New Jersey, but there will be even more pissed off men dealing with their girlfriends’ botched self-wax jobs, harsh shaving stubble, and the “I’ve given up” super-bush.

But hey – this report says hairy women have better sex!

Some guys don’t mind a little hair. Others say, “NO MORE BUSH!!!”
