Gabourey Sidibe plans on bringing her mom as her date to the 2010 Academy Awards, but there is another person who’d definitely love to walk the red carpet with the “Precious” actress.

“Oprah called me and was like, ‘Hey girl, do you want to ride together?’ ” the 26-year-old Oscar contender told PEOPLE at Thursday’s third annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon.

“I was like, ‘I got it Oprah, calm down. I don’t want to show up with you. People will think we’re too cool.”

Rosie O’Donnell may have ruffled some feathers last week when she said that the relationship between Oprah and bestie Gayle King looked like more than just friendship to her. Gayle recently blasted the rumors of a same-sex romance between the women in an interview, claiming she and Oprah have nothing to hide.

She said (via ShowbizSpy), “The thing [is], if we were gay, we would tell you. We would so tell you. We wouldn’t try to keep that a secret because there’s nothing wrong with being gay. So if we were, we would tell you. The truth of the matter is we’re not. It’s hard enough for me to get a date on a Saturday night as it is.”

Gayle continued, “This isn’t a rumor I’m trying to continue to explore, but no there’s nothing, there’s nothing wrong with it. I love that question. That never bothers me because it’s so silly.” (via Zimbio)

“A gay couple,” Howard chimed in.

“When they did that road trip, that’s as gay as it gets,” Rosie said. “And I don’t mean it to be an insult either. I’m just saying, listen, if you ask me, that’s the couple.”

This may be the last season of Oprah Winfrey’s eponymous daytime talk show. Or maybe not.

Yesterday, the O appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and disclosed that she hasn’t decided whether or not she will be filming new episodes beyond this season. This announcement comes just days before the launch of her 24th season, which will feature the highly-anticipated interviews of both Whitney Houston and Jay-Z.

She says, “I have to make that decision by the end of this year. I am literally in thoughtful prayer and consideration to continue to go ahead. You’ll be hearing about it before the end of the year.”

She’s known to do everything larger-than-life. If this is true, how do you suggest Oprah go out with a bang?

We’ve been hearing rumors that Chris Brown wants to go on The Oprah Winfrey Show to talk about his feelings. However, Chris doesn’t want to go into details of what took place that fateful night in February when he assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna.  Either way it doesn’t matter because Oprah is NOT going to have him on her show.

Chris Brown’s people had been trying to do an interview but as of now, Oprah isn’t willing to do that either!

“It’s not about the interview, it’s about the lives that we touch,” my source told me. “Every day millions of people watch our show, white and black, so whatever story we decide to cover, we have to make sure that it is only good energy…”

And we all know how Oprah feels about Chris Brown. Not even a week after the Rihanna incident went down, she was own her show basically speaking to Rihanna saying “If he hits you once, he will do it again.”

We love the fact that Oprah is not backing down for ratings!!!!

Take a look at Oprah over the years.

Well, you could take this week’s Newsweek cover and its accompanying story a couple of ways. The fact is, Oprah Winfrey really DOES say some outlandish things on her show – and that isn’t to say they’re untrue; it’s just that the pathway to health and happiness isn’t as 1-2-3 easy as she’d like to make you believe. But it’s a talk show – everything that needs to be said and done about one’s lifestyle has to first attract an audience, and then be able to fit into a 40-minute segment.

But did the magazine go a little far with this cover? Perhaps you could say they’re doing just what Oprah does – saying and doing just enough to catch your initial attention with such an abrasive cover, regardless of what the actual article says on the inside. Or maybe they’re just being way too harsh.

Or maybe someone’s finally not afraid to step to The Winfrey! She practically runs the world. I wouldn’t mess with her.  But I have to give it to Newsweek for having cojones.

It’s a common rumor that Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour tells some celebs to lose a few pounds before they can grace the cover of her legendary fashion mag. However, this was confirmed by Wintour herself in her recent interview with news program 60 Minutes on Sunday night. In an unaired segment, Wintour talked about the 1998 cover featuring Oprah Winfrey, claiming that she did, indeed, suggest she slim down before appearing in front of the mag’s photographers. Says US Weekly,

“It was a very gentle suggestion,” she said, laughing. “I went to Chicago to visit Oprah, and I suggested that it might be an idea that she lose a little bit of weight.”

She added: “I said simply that you might feel more comfortable. She was a trooper!”

Winfrey, 55, must have listened to the fashion legend. She was featured on the cover from more than 10 years ago with the tagline: “Oprah! A Major Movie, An Amazing Makeover.”

“She totally welcomed the idea, and she went on a very stringent diet,” Wintour said. “And it was one of our most successful covers ever.”
