Must Hear: John Legend’s “Tonight” From “Think Like A Man” Soundtrack [NEW MUSIC]

John Legend is back. We haven’t heard him on the radio since 2008′s “Green Light” but we have a feeling his latest track will get tons of airplay.

On “Tonight” from the “Think Like A Man” soundtrack, his trademark raspy vocals lilt over a slowed-down electro jam with just enough knock-and-hiss that we can see it being played as the final song in a club before the lights turn on.

John gets cocky on the chorus – “Baby, tonight’s the night I let you know / Baby, tonight’s the night we lose control / Baby, tonight you need that, tonight believe that / Tonight, I’ll be the best you ever had / I don’t wanna brag, but I’ll be / The best you ever had” – while Ludacris, less subtle with his words, turns the sexy up.

It will be available on 1/31 on iTunes.

Written by Ester Dean (the same lady behind “Rude Boy” and “S&M”), Riri gets back in touch her roots (a la “What’s My Name”) and delivers hard-hitting vocals on top of a tropical, dubstep-inspired beat.

She gets naughty in the most radio-friendly way, balancing between sex kitten and safe. “You da the one that I dream about all day / You da one that I think about always / You da one that makes sure that I behave / My love is your love, your love is my love,” she sings.

Michelle Williams is making a musical comeback with her new song “Love Gun.” Much like her Destiny’s Child counterpart Kelly Rowland, Michelle has gone the techno-pop route on this tune.

It’s been three years since her last solo album was released and “Love Gun” is quite different from it’s preceding material. With heavy synths and Casio keyboard-striking, the upbeat record is for the lucky in love.

“Never thought that love would ever shoot me down / One shot was all it took for love to take me out / Pistol is loaded / nowhere for me to hide / Hand on the trigger / Aiming for your bullseye,” she sings.

She told Concrete Loop, “My album will be ‘inspirational pop.’ Think of Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’ or Natasha Bedingfeld’s ‘Unwritten.’ I want to give people a message of hope while at the same time get them moving with dance inspired tracks.”

One of the never-before-heard songs is “Typewriter,” a tune Alicia recorded in her Harlem apartment back in 1997.

Beyonce’s song “Girls (Who Run The World)” is finally here in it’s entirety. Largely sampling Major Lazer’s “Pon de Floor,” Bey does what she does best: encourages her fellow femmes with empowerment anthems.

This is certainly not the album version – unless she’s citing Lil’ Jon as a featured guest – but you can expect drumline effects, popping and electro elements.

Now that you’ve heard it, here’s our take. Our honest first impression: “This is annoying.” And why? Here’s our analysis.

First, we understand that repetition is needed when attempting to make something catchy, but this is “girl” overload. Hearing the same phrase said a thousand times over within the first 45 seconds of a song makes us want to press “skip” unless we hear something new – like, soon!

Second, the lyrics, while perfect for a call-and-repeat chant for all her stans & followers, are structured in a way that completely lack melody. Her voice just doesn’t sound as pretty as we know it could. There’s a way to sound in control without being monotone, Bey.

Lastly, the arrangement is all over the place. As soon as we finally catch up with her speedy verse, she’s onto the bridge (we think) and then back to finishing part two of the verse (we think?). We’re not even sure what the chorus is. Or when the song will finally be over.

Our honest final impression? This track is gonna have to grow on us. And by that we mean: next single, please.

Kanye’s two new verses open and close the track about extraordinary lovers.

It seems Katy Perry has forgiven Kanye for the infamous Taylor Swift incident. At the time, she tweeted this message: “F*** U KANYE. IT’S LIKE U STEPPED 0N A KITTEN.”

The Pitbull-assisted “On The Floor” was produced by RedOne and commands clubgoers from Las Vegas to Africa to let loose. It premiered on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show recently, and J.Lo has already released the official single artwork.

She’s also begun shooting the video, directed by by Taj and choreographed by Frank Gatson. Taj described the clip as an “underground party.” See pics in the gallery below!

She’ll be releasing “The Love EP,” a digital-only album of love song covers, on Valentine’s Day. On the 5-song disc, she also does Bob Marley’s “Is This Love.”

Of the Prince rendition, she says, “It’s just really fun! I thought, I never get to do really fun, synthy, aggressive bright things.”

“I met Prince in London at his gigs at the O2 and he gave me loads of encouragement.
