Baby mommas have become and epidemic. Women seem to be settling for bearing a man’s children rather than bearing a ring on their finger.

Ne-Yo’s latest strip club stunt with his baby momma in tow lead me to question the level of respect men have for the mothers of their children and why they never seem to commit. Here’s three signs you may always be a baby’s momma and never a wife.

1. Stripped

Many men love the allure of naked women booty clapping for dollar bills with no strings attached. Strip clubs are an escape for most men–a fantasy if you will. Strip clubs should not be date night options. If your baby’s father respects you as the mother of his children, he’d never bring you to as strip club to watch him waste his hard-earned money, which could be going to towards the kids.

2. In Your Face

If the father of your children gallivants around town with his so called protege that he has no qualms with expressing his affections towards her, then chances are you’re pretty much set in baby momma concrete.

3. (More Than) One Woman Man

Lil’ Wayne’s redefined the term “baby momma.” He seems to be collecting them like baseball cards. When you look around and you’re among a group of women who share one baby’s father, you just might find yourself living out a stereotype.

Ne-Yo may as well be crowned the King of Hits because every single he touches hits the number one spot. He’s written Rihanna’s “Take a Bow” and “Unfaithful” as well as Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable,” so Ne-Yo knows his way around a heartfelt female ballad, which is what Olivia needs more practice in. With his emotionally connected talents and Olivia’s sweet and subtle vocals, a hit wouldn’t be far-fetched.

2. High Profile Honey

Olivia’s been romantically linked to Darrelle Revis and Maino–neither of which have helped her career at all. Olivia needs someone sweet, mainstream and someone to lift her career from the depths of obscure-ville. As a Power Forward for the L.A. Clippers, Blake Griffin has a sense of humor, amazing endorsements and is an NBA darling.

3. Better BFF’s

Olivia’s friends–at least on the reality tv show front–are a bit too…how do you say it…um rachet. You are who you hang out with and well, Olivia needs a revamp of who she hangs out with. Classy women who are known for more than who they’re trying to marry or fight with would clean her image to the point of sparkling. Tika Sumpter and Selita Ebanks are perfect BFF’s for Olivia’s refreshed image. They both have respectable careers and are definitely in the entertainment industry for the long run.

4. Dynamic Duets

Diva collaborations work wonders for careers. We’ve seen Whitney Houston and Cece Winans, Lady Gaga and Beyonce and countless others do it. Olivia teaming up with Adele–an unexpected vocal powerhouse to churn out a soulful women’s anthem would be monumental and sure to be talked about by tastemakers around the ‘net.

5.  A Haute New Look

A new look never hurt nobody. Look at Rihanna–her career took off when she chopped off her tresses. Not to say that that’s all it takes, but Olivia’s pretty honey blond and brown ‘do could use a pick me up, or a chop me off. A pixie cut a la Ciara’s wig would be a great look for the songbird. Add that new cut to a new glam look for Olivia and she’ll have an image that will gain her a bit more attention.  A picture’s worth a 1,000 words and well, Olivia could use a few of those. If we could get a high fashion shoot in a magazine like Elle, Vogue, etc., Olivia’s looks would work to her career’s advantage. Fierce photoshoots always help recording artists crossover into mainstream.

Neyo addressed the calm crowd with kind words of thanks for our support, before plugging his new liquor collaboration with Malibu–Malibu Red, then inviting us out to watch the premiere of Red Tails at a theater in Times Square. He stars in the George Lucas film which follows the story and struggles faced by the Tuskegee airmen.

Amidst the fine dining and consistent service of unmixed liquor, we were able to chat with Adrienne Bailon, the Latin beauty who once dated Rob Kardashian and starred in Cheetah Girls as well as the lead singer in 3LW. With a reality show and nail line and on the way, Adrienne spoke of her love life, music career and the fashion line she is helping design!

Upcoming artist Ravaughn is a breath of fresh air. Her vocals are outstanding and for having worked with artists such as Nicki Minaj, Keri Hilson and Michelle Williams, she is unprecedentedly humble…and not to mention beautiful!

How do you feel about the performances of your peers?
Elijah Kelley: We’re portraying historical people. These gentlemen were amazing. Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard have graced a stage that not many African Americans have graced, ever and that’s the Academy Awards. Cuba as a recipient and Terrence as a nominee. Being in the company of those men—they’re living legends. They’re writing and rewriting history that no one thought would ever happen. For that to be tangible and feel feasible gives me hope for the things I want to do in this profession.
Ne-Yo: It’s safe to say I’m the novice here. They hate when I say that, but it’s true. Towards the beginning of the movie when we’re finding out that we may get shut down, Cuba has this really powerful monologue. Anthony made him do this monologue like 12 times. Every time he did it, it was different from the time before. It blew my damn mind! The same group of words, but every time he did it, it was a different emotion. That’s the definition of acting. I will take these words and make you feel differently every time I deliver them to you. Each time, you’re going to feel them. That’s the level I aspire to get to. Having him on set, Terrence on set and these guys that are in the same age bracket as me, doing the amazing things they do made me want to step it up to be a part of this film..
Cuba Gooding Jr.: When I started acting in the 90’s, everyone was fighting to get in to one movie. Please don’t think I’m ragging on the Wayans Brothers, but the only thing we could fight for was I’m Gonna Get You Sucka. A lot of us were from Shakespeare, but we were trying to get a role in that movie because that’s what they were greenlighting and people were getting paychecks for. They’d go for the hottest rapper or something. Look at these men now on-screen [motions to Ne-Yo, Elijah and Tristan]—they say they look up to us!

What’s impactful about Red Tails today?
Nate Parker: It’s important that we know for an identity standpoint, who we are and what we come from, as America and as a black community. People with knowledge of self is like a tree without roots. In our community, so many of our young people have no roots. They’re not bearing fruit because they don’t know who they are. With a story like this that tells this triumph and of these men of excellence that maximize their capacity, is something we can take in the community and say, “This is you and this is you now!” We limit ourselves when we say that was then, why do they need to know? We are our past. It’s the fabric of who we are. If we’re miseducated about who we were, then we’re going to go forward with a perverted idea of who we are and we’re stuck wondering why we’re not progressing. Stories like this are important because we can go back and say, “How did they deal with adversity then?” One of the sayings we had was, “Through adversity to the stars.” We said it to ourselves all the time because it reminded us of what we have to go through to get to excellence. There’s no one without the other—no future without the past.

There’s so much controversy from a movie like The Help that showed domestics….
David Oyelowo: You make the point brilliantly there—why the movie needs to be made. Those were maids, we were fighter pilots. They’re downtrodden and these guys were triumphant. They helped save the world, literally. That’s a story that very rarely has been told cinematically. That’s why this is a beautiful counterbalance to that film that had its own merit.

What’s next for all of you?
Elijah Kelley: I’ll be playing Cuba Gooding Jr. in the Cuba Gooding Jr. story. [laughs] I did a small indie film that will probably be in Sundance next year called The Boys of Abu Ghraib and it’s about this group of soldiers that go over to Afghanistan during our recent war and try to relieve some of the insurgents that have been wrongly accused. It’s based on a true story. I started out in Hairspray, singing and dancing, epically inspired by these guys so I’ll wet my foot in music next.
Cuba Gooding Jr.: Wet my foot? [laughs]
Elijah Kelley: That’s what my granddad used to say! [laughs] My thing is this—in film, if you’ve followed my career, there’s been a gap since Hairspray. I don’t settle for mediocrity.  I did a film that spoke volumes on all levels and I waited for another one to do the same thing. I want to transfer that energy into my music. I think it would be nothing less than presentable at base. If it becomes more than that, then I’m ecstatic.

Ne-Yo: I’m putting together a brand new album as we speak. The running title is The Cracks in Mr. Perfect. It speaks on the perfection that is imperfection. It’s about the more human side of Ne-Yo. No Ne-Yo the celebrity or even Ne-Yo the singer/songwriter, but Ne-Yo the man and the things we deal with as men and human beings. Sometimes as a celebrity, you’re expected to be perfect. You’re not allowed to have a bad day or not want to deal with people. The one day you decide to do that, you’re an asshole. We’re human beings. Everyone is entitled to not feel like it one day. This album expresses that celebrity, whatever, artist, whatever, human being first. I’m not perfect nor am I trying to be. That’s relatable to everybody. Look for the record around April or May. I also have a few artists coming out on my own label. I’m doing something most labels don’t do anymore—grooming, artist development. Look out for Loren Allred and Ravaughn Brown—two females I’ve been working on right now. One is pop and one is R&B. Outside of entertainment, I have a hat line I put out that was just picked up by Saks Fifth Avenue, called Francis Ellargo. The hats are unisex, but I’m a guy, so they’re guys hats. They’re fedoras right now. Also, I am the official Chief Creative Executive for Malibu Red, which is a new drink from Malibu. It’s Malibu rum and Silver tequila.
Cuba Gooding Jr.: I’ve just got another movie coming out—Crew Nine. That’s all I got. [laughs] It’s the true story about a women’s prison in the 1990’s and in this program, they allowed women prisoners to come out and fight fires. They did great things—doctors, lawyers and what not after they’d been in prison. I organize the program and help these women. It’s a theme—me being blessed to work with a younger generation. Wait until you see these young black and Spanish women—22-25 year old and they give performances in this piece that will blow you away. It’s a feature film, not in the theaters, but on ABC and the Hallmark Channel on Mother’s Day—April 27^th.
Tristan Wilds: As you guys know, I’m still doing 90210, four seasons, hopefully a fifth. I also just released an EP on my personal blog called Remember Remember. It’s on meetmack.tumblr.com.  Right now, I’m working on an album, looking up to my big brothers [Ne-Yo and Elijah] for inspiration and help. It’s going to be great.

Meet The Beautiful Black Men Of “Red Tails” [EXCLUSIVE]

Director Anthony Hemingway and producer Rick McCallum managed to exhibit the inspirational and aspirational story behind the fly boys of Tuskegee with Red Tails. I’ll be the first to tell you that I am no action movie fan, but from the very beginning of this movie, I was hooked, then I was invested in the story and by the end, balled like a baby. Red Tails not only focuses on the heroism of the Tuskegee Airmen, but it also touches on themes of racism, power and visually enthralls the viewer in stunning air combat.

They say sex sells, so Red Tails should have no issue bringing in big bucks, considering the sexy stars cast to be the meat – literally and figuratively – in the retelling of this historic plight. After thanking my lucky stars, I got a chance to sit down with stars David Oyelowo, Nate Parker, Cuba Gooding Jr., Tristan Wilds, Elijah Kelley, Ne-Yo, director Anthony Hemingway, producer Rick McCallum, and real life Tuskegee Airman Dr. Roscoe Brown as they discussed the characters in the film, what they loved about it and working on an action-packed film with Civil Rights undertones. Everything about this movie stole my attention and kept it under lock and key, so please, do yourself a favor and go see Red Tails this Friday, January 20th!

Describe the characters you played…
David Oyelowo: I played Lightning and he embodies the audacity of youth. He’s a bad boy in a sense. He embodies that feeling of immortality. You kind of need that to get in a tin can that flies, go out to save the world and feel you’re going to come back every time. You needed that to do the missions. One of the things that Nate [Parker] and I talked about so much is that we were two sides of the same coin. There’s a phenomenal amount of talent in Lightning that needs directing and there’s a phenomenal amount of pressure in being a leader of a group that falls on Easy (Parker’s character).
Nate Parker: It was so exciting when we got this opportunity. This [grabs David’s shoulder] has become one of my closest friends on Earth. We sat down to figure out how we’d approach this because these characters aren’t very different. Easy’s given the responsibility of dealing with the burden of leadership and he’s 21 and it’s life or death. This character is always in the position of continual unrest and the only way he can slow his mind down is to find his coping mechanism which was alcohol, which [he thought] helped him be more human in his environment. There’s many things people use to deal with the anxiety inside of them. Through the journey, it took a series of events to let him know that sooner or later, he was going to have to face that anxiety and become a man in it. It was a rite of passage for him and without the series of events, he would have never changed. He ended up appreciating all the things that led up to him saying, “No more.”
Cuba Gooding Jr.: I play Major Emmanuel Stance. My character gives these gentleman guidance, proper training and encouragement and send them off to their war machines in the skies above.
Ne-Yo: I play Andrew “Smokey” Salem. He’s kind of the comedy relief in the film and the light-hearted part of the seriousness that is going on.
Elijah Kelley: My character’s name is Samuel “Joker” George. Ne-Yo and my character have a bond. We bring the levity to a very serious situation. I’m also a go-getter, gunner type of fighter. I want everybody to have an incredible time.
Tristan Wilds: My character is Raymond Gannon. They call me Junior. I’m the youngest pilot on the flight, the small man on the totem pole trying to get respect from my older peers.

Ne-Yo, how did you get cast in this film?
Ne-Yo: You know what? I went through the process like everyone else. I auditioned and they dug my audition. I told my people I don’t want roles because I’m Ne-Yo. It was my third time cold reading in life and it was enough to impress Anthony and there I was.

What do you love most about this film?
David Oyelowo: That was one of the things I loved about the film—I’ve been involved in films like this before. In the black community, you feel like you have to be all things to all men. You feel you have to please everyone. You feel if you have one that drinks, a bad boy and people feel like you’re airing dirty laundry. [laughs] I love that we’re doing a film that has a very firm eye on the audience. Everyone has weaknesses, especially young people. It was about how are these young men going to make the transition from boys to men. One of the scenes I enjoyed most in the movie was the scene with Terrence. He told Lightning that he had potential, but he was wasting it. Every young person has those moments where they need to buck up or lose out. I love that we didn’t pander to the fear of making him perfect. Any movie like this, you need that art so people can identify because they have those weaknesses.
Anthony Hemingway: We’ve seen ourselves as slaves, maids and X, Y and Z. This is a chance to see warriors, heroes, bravery and confidence—strong men, period. It’s a freshness. We’re focusing on educating the new generation that doesn’t know who the Tuskegee Airmen are. It’s to engage them to enjoy the ride. You’re on a roller-coaster ride, then you’re socked with some history, education and inspiration.
Nate Parker: You’re literally seeing stereotypes being dispelled as you watch it. Because there’s such an authenticity in it, it feels like you’re being transformed in the way that you think. What I really love about the film is that it celebrates masculinity in the black man. We don’t see that as often as we should. To be a part of the Hollywood machine, we look for it and our young people look for it. When they only see it in athletes and drug dealers, then that’s what they aspire to. To give them a different point of reference and say you can be excellent, strong, a rock star, sexy and still be responsible, college educated—it says something. As a black man, it’s inspiring.
David Oyewolo: I haven’t seen young, black men in amazing planes, doing what we got to do in this movie. We’ve seen films with great CGI or whatever, but not with this particular group getting to do this. It’s rare to go and feel like you’re watching something new. You can feel that.

You guys had to use a lot of CGI and green screen. What’s the difference in acting with this versus a regular movie?

Elijah Kelley: I used to laugh at people that did those type of movies—like Terminator and Transformers. It’s the hardest thing! We had someone reading lines next to us. We’re in the plane like, “boooom booom!” and the person next to you is like, [no inflection]”you’re getting shot. They’re coming after you. Look harder. Move faster.” And you’re like, “I’m getting shot at! I need for you to give me something!” All the Sam Worthington’s Shia LeBouf’s and Arnold Schwartzenegger’s that have stood in front of that screen and made something from nothing—kudos!

Do you feel it was more important to show the adventure of the film versus the Civil Rights aspect of it?

Dr. Roscoe Brown: It does show the Civil Rights, in a sense because it talks about what we can’t do and what we must do. The struggle goes back to the 1940’s and the NAACP and the black press. It’s certainly difficult to highlight that in a dramatic film. You probably know about the Double V documentary George has produced, which has interviews and back stories. The movie focuses on the combat activity to get the attention of the public.

David Oyelowo: Also, with a film of this size, there’s a desire for it to crossover and be a global film, you marginalize with the film and the audience by concentrating on that. The great thing about the Tuskegee Airmen, the untold thing about them is the heroism and sheer swagger they had. These guys were the movies stars of their day in the black community and without. They gained respect from white pilots because that’s the way they crashed through the color barrier by what they did as opposed to who they were. That’s what we wanted to depict in this. It’s for kids and grown-ups all over. It’s not just for one community or group.

The ballad, co-written by and featuring Ne-Yo, is dedicated to her man, with lyrics detailing how the couple is almost the same person.

Our blogger Kandi had this to say about her song,

“I love that song, partially because [Ne-Yo's] production team, they took the song ‘Elevators’ by OutKast and flipped the track. I’m an ATLien, and when he turned that track and flipped it, he made it into a love song.”

The song will appear on her upcoming album, Kandi Koated, due December 14.
