Despite going on tour and releasing a record-breaking six songs from a single album (with music videos to match), the VMA’s didn’t recognize Rihanna for her solo work, only for her collabo with Eminem. Now, it seems the EMAs don’t find her worthy of a “Best Female Artist” win either. Somehow, they see Jennifer Lopez more fitting of the title!

When Beyonce made her big reveal, rubbing her belly at the end of performing “Love On Top,” approximately 8,868 tweets were sent out per second.  (This beat the previous record of 7,000+ tweets this past summer when Japan beat the U.S. Women’s soccer team.)

Her announcement, along with Amy Winehouse’s tribute, Lady Gaga in drag, Kanye West & Jay-Z hitting the stage together, and Lil’ Wayne’s crazy pants, also made this award show, the most-watched in history for MTV! The network reports that they had their biggest audience yet with a record-breaking 12.4 million total viewers.

However, Rihanna only received nominations for her guest appearances on choruses. Are we the only ones who feel she was snubbed?

Before the haters go NUTS, you don’t have to be a fan of her music to recognize that she wasn’t nominated for a single piece of her solo work this year. Not one. And this was her year – 5 back-to-back singles and 5 back-to-back videos (three of which went all the way to #1!) C’mon. You couldn’t even change a radio station or television channel without hearing one of her hits.

Nevertheless, MTV ignored “Only Girl In The World,” “What’s My Name,” “S&M,” “California King Bed,” and “Man Down.” The only thing RiRi was nominated for was her guest appearances on Kanye West’s “All Of The Lights” and Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie.”

Are they punishing her for her super-suggestive “S&M” video or her murderous “Man Down” tale? Her girl-on-girl kiss with Britney Spears at the Billboard Music Awards? Her on-stage drunken antics in Atlantic City? EXPLAIN MTV!

‘The Situation’ Jokes About Slavery At Comedy Central Roast

There have been multiple discussions on this topic, with many outraged parents and even teen girls speaking their concerns and criticisms of the show. Most recently, I came across an article criticizing the show because they do not promote abortions.

An outraged blogger stated, “Where are the pregnant teens who choose not to stay pregnant? Where are the abortions? If MTV really wanted to prove themselves as responsible programmers, they would also feature pregnant teens who have abortions.”

She went on to complain that MTV decided that only pregnancies that ended in birth were worth documenting and that pregnancies that end up in abortion shouldn’t be shown.

The president of Concerned Women for America told Lifenews.com that “showing a teenager who had an abortion would trivialize the post-abortion problems many women face because such problems often take years to materialize”.

Since many people tune into a reality show to see how others deal with problems, having abortions on the show would not show the real consequences and emotional regrets that many women face years after their abortion has taken place.

The YBF.com reported that according to the feminists groups, “The mainstreaming of videos like this increases desensitized and callous attitudes toward violence against women,” mentioned one of the activists.

They went on to say, “Young people are seeing images and absorbing harmful messages which glamorize misogyny and brutalize women. Women are reduced to sex-doll like playthings. So great is the level of desensitization that the barbaric treatment of women and girls is seen as normal and to be expected. We decided to run this campaign because we wanted to challenge the status quo.”

This will be my final mention of the Kanye West and Taylor Swift MTV awards incident. After Taylor’s recent performance semi-dedicated to Kanye West at the MTV awards; it can now be said that it is time for everyone, including the parties involved to move on.  Both parties involved seem to be ready to move on. If you need more reasons then here are a few thoughts on why everyone, especially the media should move past this.

Kanye has apologized… Numerous times

Kanye has apologized on numerous occasions to Taylor Swift and the public. He was also punished by the media, ignored and his appearance was not requested during other award shows. He spent the last year being ostracized for this. He served his time and a point was driven home to him.  I think his apologies are sincere. He knows what lines not to cross now.

Is Kanye West Dating Pussy Cat Doll Melody Thornton?

Taylor has accepted… Sorta-

Everyone felt that her song at the MTV awards was her way of accepting Kanye’s apology. It was the beginning of the “healing” process for both parties. It seems that even she is ready to move on from this, even if that means making a grand gesture as her acceptance of his apology.

Let us not forget that this incident happened at least a year ago. It just seems more recent because it keeps being brought up and dragged out for more media coverage.

There is nothing more to be said

Everything that could be said about the situation between Kanye and Taylor has been said by someone, somewhere. There has been several blogs covering it; every spin that we can think of to this story has happened. It is time for both parties to move on and lift this cloud from their careers.

Usher, who released his new EP Versus earlier this week, is the latest artist to get added to the lineup at this year’s Video Music Awards, where he will grace the same stage as fellow performers Drake, Kanye West, Eminem, and B.o.B.

Usher, who’s nominated for three awards for his video for “OMG,” is making his first appearance on the VMA stage since he danced in the rain while performing “Yeah!” during the 2004 event.

“It is an honor to once again be a part of the MTV Video Music Awards,” said Usher in a statement. “I can’t wait to perform for my fans all around the world who have helped to make this album a success and my being here possible. You never know what’s gonna happen on an MTV VMA stage. … I look forward to making it a night to remember.”

Despite his headline-grabbing appearance at last year’s show [SEE THE VIDEO HERE], MTV has invited Kanye West back to perform at this year’s Video Music Awards.

All eyes will be on Mr. West when he takes the stage at the 27th annual show, according to UsMagazine.com.

Kanye had everyone talking after he interrupted Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech at last year’s event. He was reportedly asked by MTV to leave the show following the spectacle. But the hoopla is bound to attract viewers who will be tuning in to see whether Kanye has any more surprises up his sleeve.

The VMA gig is only one of many things Kanye has planned for this year. “More music … I’m bout to drop a bunch of shit this year.. surprise performances.. guest verses… living in the studio,” tweeted the rapper, whose fifth album is set for a November release.

The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. SOURCE

Nicki Minaj took to her Twitter account to announce the official release date of her debut album.

Now all we need now is a title, an album cover, and a leak of all the songs, and we’re all set!

It’ll be out just in time for the Grammy’s, so we’re wondering if she’ll be put in serious contention for a Best New Artist.

While on the set of her “Your Love” video, she told MTV,

“The album is coming along just spectacular. I been doing a lot of work with Swizz [Beatz], and the stuff that we been coming upon is magical. When people hear the album, they’re going to get to know [birth name] Onika. And no one knows Onika. I really didn’t think I would be this excited about the songs that I’m coming up with. I’m really, really proud.”

FROM MTV: Trey Songz’ “MTV Unplugged” performance premiered today (April 26) on MTV.com.

He started the show off cheekily: “Shout-out to the guys with their girls,” he said before chuckling as he pointed at a man in the crowd: “He like, ‘Yeah, what up.’ ”

The Virginia native showcased a number of the hits from his latest album, Ready, including a mash-up of “I Invented Sex” and Marvin Gaye’s classic “Let’s Get It On.”

And for a cover of Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody,” Songz brought up an overwhelmed admirer from the audience.

Other covers included Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers to Cross” and Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.”

Eventually, a somber Songz took his jacket off and opened up about his recent good fortune. Taking a seat, he talked about his visit to the White House with Jay-Z and Beyoncé in March. The singer grew more emotional as he discussed the trip, recalling words his grandmother had spoken to him. He eventually became completely overwhelmed, tearing up and describing the chance to perform on “Unplugged” as “monumental.” SOURCE

Ne-Yo said he would like to model his acting career after Tom Hanks. He explains:

“I was quoted as once saying I want to be the black Tom Hanks, and what I mean by that is Tom Hanks is the kind of guy that can do comedy, action, you name it. So I want to be that guy..” Ne-Yo adds, quote, “With that being said, any action movies? Holler at me. Any drama? I can cry on cue. I can do all that.”

What type of  movies you won’t see Ne-Yo in?

He states:

“I think I might be a little too dark. Vampires are normally pretty pale. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.”

Ne-Yo will be starring alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard in the film “Red Tails.” He will also appear in the science fiction flick “Battle: Los Angeles” next February. Ne-Yo’s untitled, fourth studio release is expected in stores later this year.

Diddy’s first born Justin Combs held an elaborate Sweet 16 Party last month at M2 Lounge in New York. The celebration was filmed for the MTV reality series of the same name, and though the show has featured plenty of kids living in luxury planning their over-the-top bashes, Justin’s certainly took the cake. Among his gifts were a $360,000 Maybach and Nicki Minaj as his arm-in-arm date. Granted, he received a $10,000 check which he donated to the Haiti victims, but the kid is still spoiled as hell.

At the 5:30 mark, he goes shopping for jewelry, but some of the diamond and sapphire pieces are “the usual, nothing too extra.” At the 9:20 mark, his mother brings him breakfast in bed, where he confesses that he never wants to pay bills and wants to continue to mooch off of his parents. At the 12:30 mark, Justin tells Nicki Minaj: “You match my fly.”

Diddy is determined to throw the party of the year for his son’s 16th birthday – he’s invited Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown and Lil’ Kim to ensure it’s a star-studded bash. The rapper’s eldest son Justin will be celebrating with the stars at Saturday’s event, which will be held in a New York City nightclub.

The party will be filmed for MTV reality series “My Super Sweet 16,” about teenagers’ over-the-top birthday celebrations.

Combs’ glittering guest list for the ‘Prince of New York’-themed party is also said to include boxer Floyd Mayweather as well as Jay-Z and Beyonce.

But the birthday boy won’t be getting any presents on his special day – his rapper dad has asked guests to give donations to the relief effort in earthquake-devastated Haiti.

A source tells the New York Post, “The club will be decorated with images from the New York skyline. Diddy will perform with his band, Dirty Money, but there will also be some big-name performers taking the stage to surprise Justin. It’s going to be big, but it won’t be as lavish as Diddy’s 40th (in November 2009). Instead of gifts, guests will be asked to make a donation to the Haiti fund.”

He appeared on the show in 2008 when his stepson Quincy, who’s mother is Kim Porter and father is R&B singer Al B. Sure, turned 16, as well.

Call him corny, but 2010 belongs to Mr. Mariah Carey. Check out what’s on Nick Cannon’s plate for the upcoming year and why, when it comes to being a mogul, he may be giving Diddy a run for his money.

“I don’t want to be the next Will Smith or the next Denzel Washington,” the 29-year-old told The Hollywood Reporter. “I want to be the first Nick Cannon, the first person to do something. Hopefully, I will still do movies, but I want to be able to be my own man, run my own company.”

1. He and Atlantic Records are looking to launch a multi-platform franchise in the resurrection of “Josie and the Pussycats,” an all-girl singing trio based on the Archie Comics characters. Cannon hopes a global search for the three girls will yield a reality competition series and evolve into a scripted comedy-drama, both of which will air on Nickelodeon’s 24-hour channel TeenNick where he serves as chairman, the youngest in TV history.

2. Cannon’s recently launched production company NCredible Entertainment is also venturing into publishing to produce a multimedia book series to coincide with the upcoming premiere of the Cannon-written and -directed February 2010 Nickelodeon movie “The School Gyrls.” Cannon penned the first book and plans to be involved in the writing of the six original novels under the pact.

3. At MTV, where Cannon produced the sketch-comedy show “Wild ‘N Out,” he is behind “Nick Cannon Presents Hatin’ on ’09,” a comedic year-in-review special that will air on New Year’s Day. Cannon taped an appearance as President Obama, with rapper-actor 50 Cent also set to do a segment.

5. At Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, NCredible is working on a puppet show set in the real world. It is about members of a hip-hop group who live together and are on the verge of making it big. It’s being described as a hip-hop version of HBO’s “Entourage.”

6. Cannon is making his foray into radio with a daily morning drive show on CBS Radio’s WXRK-FM New York (92.3 “Now”). He debuts on the top-40 station January 19. The is expected to broadcast through a variety of mobile devices including the iPhone, iPod Touch, Blackberry and Zune.  “I always wanted to do radio,” said Cannon, who has frequently filled in for radio hosts Ryan Seacrest and Steve Harvey.

7. Cannon is also keeping his summer job and will return as host of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” next year.

In Berlin, at the 2009 MTV European Music Awards, Beyonce made a very short, and very sweet, acceptance speech after winning the award for “Best Video” for her hit single “Single Ladies.” She thanked only a single person…her husband. That’s the most public display of affection we’ve seen from them in a long time.

Beyonce Gets Sexy For MTV’s European Music Awards

Rihanna is set to drop her “Rated R” album in two weeks, so Chris Brown moves his “Grafitti” album release date up, too. Rihanna finally broke her silence this morning on “Good Morning America,” so Chris Brown arranges an interview with MTV the following day. Is someone playing follow the leader?

In the hour-long interview with MTV News correspondent Sway, Brown explains what caused him to lash out against his former girlfriend Rihanna on that fateful February night, why he tweeted old photos of the two of them and what he thinks about, nine months later, when he recalls the incident.

“My thoughts [when I look back on it now] is like, why did it happen? Like, what was I thinking? What is wrong with you? That’s what I’m thinking with myself. That’s what my thoughts are, basically, now.

“It’s like, how do we get past it? How do you, Chris — talking to myself — how do you go from point A to point B? How do you learn from your mistakes, turn it into a positive and help other people with the situation, and at the end of the day become the person that you want to be?”

“Just anger,” he said plainly when asked by Sway what triggered the incident. “Yeah, anger. Young people, we do before we think.”
