We’re creeping into Fall and we have some wonderful visual stimuli to help you ease into the new season. This week’s featured model is Bo Pratt. He was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan where he spent most of his time playing sports such as football and wrestling. He continued his athleticism through college where he joined Division II’s Grand Valley State University football team.

After being asked throughout his undergrad if he was in the modeling industry, Bo finally decided to give modeling a shot while he was completing his Master’s Degree in Computer Science. Jumping into the modeling business without any true knowledge of the industry proved to be challenging, but after much perseverance (and even more questions asked), he found many great influences who weren’t afraid to give good advice and direction. With industry professionals backing him, and completing school, he decided it was time to give modeling and acting his full attention.

“He Can Get It” Wednesday: Andre

Recently, Bo returned from South Africa where he worked with great companies such as Pepsi, Samsung, and Garnier! In addition to South Africa, he has also lived in Sydney, Australia and London, England. Taking a break near his hometown, Bo is currently spending his time between Detroit and Chicago, with future plans of moving to New York City.

I asked Bo what he looks for in a woman and he said, “My ideal woman is confident, loving, as well as encouraging. She needs to be my support when I am unsure, as I would be hers. She enjoys fitness and exercise, has a strong drive, and is not afraid of randomness and spontaneity. My biggest turn offs are too much insecurity, no sense of adventure, and laziness.”

Yes, lawd! It’s hump day, and it’s time for “He Can Get It” Wednesday. And this week’s featured model is the FINE, FINE, FINE, 25-year old, Tyson Allen Strong.

Currently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, Tyson was born in Culver City, California. He is the baby of four kids. He has two older brothers and an older sister. He moved to Las Vegas when he was around eight years old. “We weren’t having a very good time out there in California,” Tyson said. “Drugs were everywhere in the 80’s including right in our very own house. Eventually, my uncle got tired of us being around all of that and he grabbed all of us kids. After he showed up, we were on the road to Las Vegas and never went back. He was actually my biggest influence and hero growing up, and the reason why I joined the military. He was a former Marine. Shortly after that my mother came out to Las Vegas.”

Tyson graduated high school when he was 16-years old. He always knew he was going to join the military because of his uncle, but he had to wait until he was 17-years old. He enlisted in the Navy and went into the Military Intelligence Field. He also volunteered for other special programs. He ended up stationed in Norfolk VA, and spent a lot of time out of the country. “I loved the job, but I needed a change,” Tyson said.

It wasn’t until 2007 when Tyson got out of the Navy and moved back to Las Vegas that he started modeling. “A friend of mine told me about Modelmayhem.com and once I joined the messages started rolling in,” he said. “I started doing some shoots, and club owners would contact me to come hang out at their clubs, and do other conventions.”

Tyson also said he loves photography. “I love the messages you can send, and emotions that you could evoke in a person without ever saying a word. I went out and got camera and read every book I could and spent hours upon hours working on Photoshop, watching videos, and tutorials. Some real good photographers would show me tricks of the trade and gave me advice. They would show me different techniques and let me in the studios to learn.”

“He Can Get It” Wednesday: Anthony

I asked Tyson what he looks for in a woman and he said intelligence and personality. “I have a hunger for knowledge. I have to learn something new every day, and I want someone that I can have an educated conversation with,” Tyson said.  He also shared that when he was in the 9th grade, Mrs. Walker, his history teacher said, “You all run around here looking for the hottest thing you can find even if they don’t have any personality or brains. You may be into that now, and think that’s all that matters, but give it about 10 years, and you’ll see no matter how good someone looks that is not enough to keep you around. If you can’t communicate with that person and their personality doesn’t fit with yours, or they do you wrong, it doesn’t matter how good they look you’re going to kick them to the curb, and if it’s you, you’re going to get the boot.”

“Of course you can’t tell a bunch of ninth graders that. We all thought she was talking nonsense back then. LOL! But, she was absolutely right. I don’t go out looking for girls. I was engaged to a girl in my unit, and before we deployed I found out that she was sleeping with a few other people in my unit that I was getting ready to go to war with. So, needless to say that didn’t work out. She didn’t get to deploy with us. I had a big job, a lot of responsibility, and the command didn’t want her out there compromising my judgment. That happened in the beginning of 2009. I have been on an extended vacation from relationship. LOL!”

When Tyson is not modeling his main thing now is photography. “I’ll still get in front of the camera from time to time, but I like being behind it,” he said. “Also, I’m still in the military and I’ll be doing the long haul. I can’t see myself not serving. I’m going to start recruiting in October. I’m a Staff Sergeant, a Squad Leader, and I have the best soldiers anyone could ask for. I’m in the 1864th Transportation Company. During the last deployment I served as a Convoy Commander. I was the youngest Convoy Commander in the Battalion at 24-years old. As a Convoy Commander once a mission came down I planned out the mission, got all my soldiers ready, and we hit the road. The freedom of the position is nice in a sense that I don’t have to ask anyone what to do or get permission. I get to make all the decisions. Everything that happens on the road, whether it is a flat tire or a roadside bomb, whatever we do I make the call. Like I said though, I have the best soldiers you could ask for. They are well trained. I don’t have to tell them how to react or stay calm they are professionals. They already know what to do, and they just do it. People would tell me I did a great a job, and I would tell them, no I didn’t, my soldiers did a great job.”

Tyson says he will be in Vegas for awhile. He just got orders to be a recruiter out there for the next three years. He just got back from deployment in April of this year.

In his downtime, Tyson spends a lot of time with his nephews and niece. “I love spending time with them,” he said. “Everyone that looks at me thinks I have wild weekends because I’m single in Las Vegas. Well, they are all wrong. My sister brings the kids over Friday afternoon and they spend the night with me Friday and Saturday and she picks them back up Sunday evening. I love having them over. The first time I took my nephew to school, he jumped out of the car and ran out to the playground. I jumped out right behind him leaving the car running like, ‘Where are you going?’ I wasn’t ready yet! LOL! My niece was worse. I had to go into the classroom with her and she said to me, “But uncle Tyson I’m a big girl. You don’t have to go in my classroom every time.” LOL! She’s 6 now and the most beautiful little girl you will ever see.”

Tyson says he is working on a couple of calendars and had a special message he wanted to share, “It’s going to be filled with all kinds of sexiness. So, if any of you beautiful ladies are interested feel free to contact me. Also, if anyone wants any information about the National Guard I guarantee you that I know an “honest” recruiter in your area.”

Well, they say there are some BIG things in Texas, and this week’s featured “He Can Get It” model is the reason that statement is true.

Ladies, meet 25-year old sexy and dangerously BIG man, Darrick Bledsoe.

Born by the river, The Brazos, in Waco, TX, Darrick, was raised in the city until 1999 when his family moved to Arlington, TX, where he currently resides.

The charming Texan gent was discovered as a model in 2004, believe it or not, by his sons mother. She was a scout for a local modeling agency and she encouraged Darrick to go to an open call. He was hand-picked to be represented by the agency, however, he was scammed out of hundreds of dollars. This discouraged Darrick for a while. He took five years off to regroup and with lots of support he decided to give it another go. Since his return to the modeling scene his sexy good looks, and svelte muscular body has been shot by various top photographers for many websites. Darrick’s look has graced many urban pages as well as implied artistic nudes. “They like my body,” Darrick said. I am certain there are lots of women who will agree.

“He Can Get It” Wednesday: Brandon

When Darrick is not modeling he is a Machinist by trade. “I love working with my hands,” Darrick said. “I’ve made everything from vinyl siding for houses, to soda.” I know you ladies love a man who is good with hands and knows what to do with them.

In Darrick’s down time he says he enjoys family time with his children and grandmother. “She’s my rock,” Darrick said. Awwww, a man who knows the importance of family, and spending time with his grandmother. Yes, ladies, that is a sign of a good man. And, he is single.

I asked Darrick what type of woman he is looking for and he said, “I look for a woman like those described in the Bible. A virtuous woman who is my helpmate.” Darrick also claims to be the first Certified Cougar Hunter. “I love an older woman. They know what they want. She will tell you what she wants and likes, and leaves no room for guessing.” Well, well, well. How many older women out there are looking for a young tender to teach some things?

Darrick also said he is mostly looking for a woman he can connect with on a spiritual, intellectual, and physical level. “If one is lacking, she probably won’t make the cut. If she can’t stimulate my mind, she can’t stimulate my body. She has to know how to handle a country boy, so usually she’s from the country herself. But, first and foremost, she has to love me and my children also. If she wants me she has to prepare herself to accept five others. We are six a pack and non can be detached.”

Currently, Darrick is working on producing his own calendar, website, and getting more exposure for the public. “I’m not only doing it for myself, but for my city, my state, my whole region. I want all the major agencies to know the South is full of unexplored talent that needs to be tapped into,” Darrick said.

Chaka recently did an interview with Tonic on her life’s passion..

Talk to Chaka Khan for a matter of minutes, and it’s clear where her real passion lies: with kids.

“My whole career I’ve been assisting children — on a smaller scale, of course, than now. But all my life I’ve been working with children. They’re my favorite people, and the most subjugated, innocent and mistreated ofttimes — the ones who suffer the most.”

It was with those kids in mind that Khan started the Chaka Khan Foundation back in 2003 — making her life-long passion an official non-profit that’s getting down to some serious work helping youth in Los Angeles.

“My heart’s virtue is to help and protect the innocent,” Khan tells Tonic. “That’s what I’m about. That’s why I’m here.”

“I happen to be a great singer,” she adds. “[But] this gift of music is a tool so that I can reach more people on a larger level to be of service. The biggest gift is of being of service. That’s the rush.”

Starting Friday, the public can get in on the rush, as the Chaka Khan Foundation kicks off a fundraising auction, with proceeds going directly to help inner-city kids find a spark and an education they can’t find anywhere else. Up on the block? Everything from gift cards and jewelry, to an exotic vacation, to one truly priceless prize for any music lover: Dinner with Chaka Khan herself.

“The auction is going to be amazing, and I just urge everyone, ‘Let’s do this!’ Let’s do this for our future,” she says. “I’m appealing to everyone to invest in our future … our children. They are our most valuable commodity, and we have to stand up and treat them as such.”

Chaka Khan was raised in Chicago “by two mothers and a father,” she says, who all worked for the University of Chicago, and all served as inspirational mentors. Her stepmother was a Montessori school teacher. Her birth mom was an artist and painter. And her father was a philosopher, deep into Dostoevsky, who took off for Ibiza to shoot photos for a few years after divorcing her mom. “That opened my eyes to a whole world — that there is a world outside of Chicago, and America. I think he planted the seed, a thirst for knowledge of the world.”

“I was a rebellious chick,” Khan says, citing her time with the Black Panthers and more, but her parents supported her throughout, and were there to guide her when she needed it. Perhaps their biggest lesson? “Life is yours for the taking,” she says. “You just have to be open, and open up to the openness.”

It’s a message she hopes to impart through the work of her Foundation. But it isn’t so easy in a world where kids are tied to video games and the Internet more than real-life. “We were more hands on, organic, tasted, smelled, felt the world [when we were growing up],” she notes. “A lot of kids don’t get that they’re in font of a screen and playing a game. We played games, for real. That’s a big difference.”

“We have to bring them back to the real, first,” Khan says. “You are empty, in a way, if you don’t have that aspect of yourself … and these kids are lost, in a big way.”

Thanks to the Chaka Khan Foundation, more than a few kids in Los Angeles are on their way to being found.

After all, it’s Khan’s personal mission: “I will do everything I can,” she says, “to ensure that any child I touch is gonna be alright.”

It’s almost Spring. The weather is breaking and it’s time to show more skin. And, with showing more skin you got to make sure you look good from head-to-toe.

And, this week’s “He Can Get It,” model is one of those men you will run into and you want to make sure you look your finest.

“He Can Get It” Wednesdays: Theo

Meet 32-year old DeSean a.k.a. One Take. DeSean, a native of Ohio, but currently residing in Memphis, Tenn., said his nickname is self explanatory. “Ladies, one time with me is all it takes.”

The recent southern native says that his ideal lady is, “One who is able to have good conversation, on her own career path, and she has a good personality. But, the most important thing is sex appeal. I need sex appeal in my lady and she knows how to take care of her man because I’m going take care of her.” Well alrighty then!

DeSean is a master barber in Memphis, so he knows how to use the clippers and other vibrating machines. Did I mention he is a Scorpio? Hmmmm. Maybe that will explain the nickname.

Besides being a barber by day, DeSean is a personal trainer by evening. Yeah, he’s doing the damn thing.  And, he even finds time to squeeze in his modeling, which he has been doing for the past three years. DeSean’s sexy looks has landed him some featured acting roles in a couple of music videos – the most recent is Young Gotti’s, “Sold Out,” music video.

A couple of the girls instantly get on her nerves. In judging panel, she explains why she hasn’t dated Caucasian men and it looks like Miss J. is going to need CPR.

Sounds like she could be one to watch.

Gabrielle:
18, from St. Louis. Her racial mix has made for quite a stunning look. Once she opens her mouth, though, she’s a bit of a turnoff. She has issues for days over race and men. All that masks a girl who is probably one of the most self-informed contestants on the modeling industry that we’ve seen on the series.

Goodness! Goodness! Goodness! Yes, ladies, today is “He Can Get It” Wednesday.

Today, I am happy to introduce, Theo. The 29-year old was born in Kentucky, but raised in the DMV area (DC/Maryland/Virginia). Yes, if you’re from any of those three states, you may be lucky to run into this dreaded stud. Theo works for the Department of State, but he is also a triple threat. He is a model, actor, and music producer. He has produced records for a few indie artists and record labels. All that talent in one man!

Theo’s magnificent body and urban look was discovered in the gym while he was working out. From there everything took off for him.

“He Can Get It” Wednesday: Rafael

Theo loves for a woman to have goals. “I’m not into the ‘extra done-up’ type. That usually means they have something to hide,” Theo says. “I’m into the typical female. I love thickness, like one-hundred sixty pounds and up for me.” He also shared the woman for him would need to have morals, be smart, and to be strong. Yes, I know you ladies are screaming that is you! You want to run your hands through his long ‘locs and let them fall all over you.

Not a man to take things easily, Theo says he is always plotting. “I am always thinking of the next step, or what I need to do to get to where I want and need to be in life,” Theo says. “My down time isn’t really down time.” That is the type of man who will make things happen and earn an income. Hello Ladies!

Yes, it’s Wednesday and you know what that mean! It’s “He Can Get It” Wednesday.

Rafael started modeling when he was 18-years old. He was spotted by the fashion show recruit at school. They liked his look and decided to use him for the school’s fashion show and his career took off from there. He likes to read, especially Greek mythology and philosophies. He also loves watching movies. I know you ladies would love to snuggle on the sofa and watch a scary movie with Rafael.

We’re hearing that Ciara has been told to lose weight by her modeling agency.  The singer signed with Wilhelmina modeling agency a few years ago and apparently they’re not too happy with her recent weight gain (are we talking about the same person?) We think she needed to gain 20 lbs.

Here’s what we found out:

Ciara has been hiding out lately trying to lose 20 pounds. Word has it your girl Ciara is in jeopardy of losing her multi million dollar Wilhemenia modeling contract due to her constant weight fluctuation.

This explains why you don’t see her walking the streets of LA as she is trying to avoid being seen by papparazi and her agent.

She is said to have added 20 pounds to her frame (mainly her hips and thighs) and her agents are not happy. With upcoming spreads in magazines including the always discriminative Vogue, she has been told to drop the weight by the end of the year or else…

Terrell Owens, the Buffalo Bills receiver who turned 36 this past Monday, has signed with Wilhelmina modeling agency.

“Well, I’m always putting my hands in and feeding into something,” Owens said after practice Wednesday, noting that the company approached him with the offer. “When you’ve got some good looks like myself, you’ve got to take full advantage of it.”

Wilhelmina issued a statement describing the partnership as natural, given T.O.’s popularity, saying “Owens has achieved what most athletes can only dream of: record books highlighting his name, fans sporting his jersey and a nickname of just two letters that is recognized by sports enthusiasts nationwide.”

It’s Owens latest foray outside of football. Earlier this year, he co-produced a reality TV show that was broadcast on VH-1, and has already been picked up for a second season. This summer he promoted a breakfast cereal, called ‘T.O.’s Honey Toasted Oats,’ which was produced by Pittsburgh-based PLB Sports, and sold in western New York. Owens also markets his own brand of T-shirts.

Wilhelmina Modeling Agency has also been home at one time or another to Gabriel Aubry (Halle Berry’s boyfriend), Cassie, Toccara, Janice Dickinson, and Beverly Johnson.

There are plenty of Caribbean islands with secluded beaches, but none quite like Tobago. I’m hearing that new reality star and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens and model Jessica White are an item.  According to the New York Post, the two have been seen out and about in Los Angeles and Buffalo and Jessica even makes an appearance in T.O.’s new reality show trailer. Jessica’s camp are claiming the two are definitely dating, but no word from T.O.’s camp as yet.

We told you a few weeks ago about the rumor that Russell was dating a black model, well it’s official…Russ went public with his new girlfriend, french model Noemei Lenoir. The two made an appearance at the he 6th Annual Wayuu Taya Foundation Gala Wednesday in New York City.

Russell puts the blogs on blast

Russell recently underwent surgery to remove an infection from one of his hands and it seems like he has a hot new bedside nurse named Noemie Lenoir. You may not know the name, but we’re sure you’ve seen that face.  Noemi is an African-French hottie who has graced the covers of publications such as Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues. 

bossip.com got word from one of their snitches who actually visited Simmons, that Simmons and Lenoir were joined at the hip. Though the source revealed there wasn’t any type of public displays of affection, had the two been alone, it would’ve been a completely different story. “It was crazy how their eyes followed each other around the room every time one of them got up to do something. The interaction between them seems refreshing on both parts. They looked really happy.”

Usually Victoria’s Secret models become supermodels, but does it ever go the other way around? Apparently so. Model superstar Chanel Iman is now posing for the classic lingerie catalog, and she’s adorable! Check out some pics below.

Something about this Victoria’s Secret model is very….different. I can’t put my finger on it, but what I DO know is that I don’t much like it. Maybe it’s her new hair color? Style? Whatever. The point is, here she is at a Victoria’s Secret event, and I don’t think she’s pregnant, but maybe I’m not up on my news. But if you’re not pregnant, and you look pregnant, that sucks.

In anticipation of her television debut on MTV’s House of Style this weekend, we snagged Chanel Iman for a few minutes to chat about how she landed the coveted role of show correspondent (first peek at her in the show, left), her recent coup on the runway at Balenciaga, and about how she might have already landed a date to this year’s Costume Institute Gala. It also sounds like she has a career switch in mind – but Chanel will tell you all about it herself.

How did your role on House of Style come about?

Well basically, they called my agency, I went in to meet with them, I did an audition with all the rest of the girls, and they called – I was waiting for the phone call, I was hoping I got it – but I was waiting for about three months. And when I got back from Paris – I was in Paris for ready-to-wear and did the whole fashion tour for Fashion Week – they told me I got it. I was really excited because it’s just another way for me to express myself!

Tell me a little bit about your upcoming Gossip Girl appearance.

It’s just experience – it was just for me to get an idea of what it would be like to be on set, to really see what happens since I’ve never been on a set before.

Are you looking for more TV appearances in the future then?

Yeah. I’m kind of slowing down on the modeling right now and I’m branching out to other experiences and interests that I have. [Ed. note: She told Teen Vogue: "House of Style is definitely just the start. I want to do television, film, music and designing. I want to do it all!"]

Ever seen a Calvin Klein runway show? Or a Calvin Klein ad? It’s white city. That seems to be Calvin’s thing when it comes to his models: white, starving, or preferably both.

However, times changed when the label picked model Lyndsey Scott to be the first-ever black exclusive model during CK’s runway show during New York Fashion Week.

For those of you who don’t know, an exclusive is when a label picks a model to walk in their show, and only their show, during Fashion Week. To be picked for a Calvin Klein exclusive is much like winning an Oscar: you are officially “the shit” at your job.
