“I put a lot in that category – rappers, sports players, ball players and things like that. I would never say ‘never,’ but I want something real. I want real love. I don’t want this red carpet Hollywood love. I feel like they’re easily penetrated, and that’s something that I don’t want. I don’t want publicity. I want love.

“I ain’t no dummy. I know that it can work, and I know there is true love in those situations. But the way that some of them have approached me makes me feel like I would just be a publicity stunt, I guess. It’s like a ‘look’ for us to be together as opposed to ‘Oh, let’s get to know each other and see if it works.’ They just kind of want to move fast and want the world to know and be talked about. And that’s not something that’s appealing to me.”

Keri has had the same road staff, from assistant to security, for a few years now.”

After the show, Hilson Tweeted, “Shout out to all the PARTY PEOPLE at HAZE tonight!!!! Much love to promoter, mgr & staff for takng great care!!”

Hilson posted a picture of herself and an incoherent Amy Winehouse-lookalike with the message: “*gasp* Amy Winehouse resurrected to party w/ me!!! (seriously, uncanny resemblance).”

However, considering the timing, people found her Tweet tasteless and they responded angrily:

“Maybe she can resurrect your career too”

“You are a stupid b*tch. No respect for the dead, just sad.”

“That ain’t funny scary hilson, go back to walmart.”

“Tacky and classless! Have some respect for dead heffa!”

Keri immediately apologized, writing: “Come on, I mean no harm. All due respect. But really the resemblance freaked me out. This was simply the best tribute ever. #RIPAMYWINEHOUSE….Bedtime. I apologize 2 anyone who might’ve taken it the wrong way. As a fan, I thought it was cool that she dressed up to honor Amy. I had no ill intent, but I understand how it appears insensitive…my bad twitterville. For real. Good night :) ”

However, this isn’t the first time Keri’s come under fire for Amy. On Saturday, Keri shared her condolences, writing, “Amy Winehouse…so tragic. I loved her. She inspired me! I kept hoping she’d find a happier place than her self destructive state…damn.”

But Twitterfolk berated her for her word choice, claiming “self destructive” was mean.

“This look reminded me of Michelle Pfeiffer from Scarface. It was very 1970′s inspired with icey pastel colors and made modern and fresh by infusing warm golden and copper colors to make Keri’s skin glow. We also used two pairs of Jamaal Buster Lashes in Diva and 2nd Date Guarenteed to add serious drama.”

Here are some of the steps on how she created Keri’s look:

Face:

Start with Skinflash Primer Radiance Boosting Makeup Primer, then apply DiorSkin Nude Natural Glow Creme Gel in #40. I applied Tarte Dark Circle Defense Natural Under Eye Corrector in Medium-Deep to under eye area and applied Banana Powder from Ben Nye so eyes lifted without looking too light and unnatural. I then used Queen Collection Mineral Bronzer in Light Bronze and  applied all over the face to create a light contour on the nose.

Body:

First spray legs with Dior Airflash Bronzer on her legs then apply Tarte Celebutante Dry Oil Shimmer Spray on top to add shimmer,  it makes legs look slimmer.

Eyes:

First apply Smoky Shadow Blast in Bronze Fire the golden color on the lid and brow and the bronze color in the crease then blend so the color natural fades. Apply Green Glow Liquiline Blast on top and bottom lash line then blend with a small tapered brush to diffuse color. Lastly add  2 coats of DiorShow 360 Mascara to lock in lashes so they blend with the faux lashes, this gives a natural look. I completed the look with Milani Black Liquid Liner with a slight wing for that retro chic look of the 70′s.

I added Girlactik Heaven’s Dust in Gold in the inner corner of the eyes and cheekbone so it really made Keri’s face pop!

Lips:
Lip Perfection Lip Color in Heavenly, Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss in Mocktail Hour in center of lips so lips look full and sexy.

Brows:
We wanted to mute brows so I used Dior Brow gel in Shiny Blonde which really lifted Keri’s eyes.

Cheeks:
I applied Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour Blush in Tipsy on the apples of the cheeks.

We love Keri. We really do. But this was not her strongest moment. And it seems like she knew it, too. The way she pulled away from the mic at :02 mark, instead of hitting that note shows her insecurity.

However, she kept her head up on Twitter, writing: “I sang ‘I Have Nothing’ (Whitney Houston) in a tribute to David Foster, 1 of the greatest songwriters EVER! He came over & said, ‘Your performance was BAD-ASS!!’ Told you he was genius, heh.”

She said in a statement, “Anyone can be affected by leukemia. It is the number one disease children in the U.S. die of and we can change that. I encourage people to become bone marrow donors with DKMS. If we have more donors, we can save more lives.”

Early last year, Rihanna publicly urged all her fans to register with the DKMS bone marrow donor center so that young Broadway performer Shannon Tavarez, who played Nala in ‘The Lion King,’ could live after being diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia. The singer unfortunately passed in November 2010.

Pharrell emceed the black-tie event, Solange provided her DJing skills, and supermodel Iman was also in attendance. All proceeds raised will go directly to registering life-saving bone marrow donors.

“Before all her hit songs, Hilson worked behind the scenes as a successful songwriter. Stepping out of the background was not as effortless as Hilson, 28, now makes it look.

“The transition to being in front of the camera was very, very difficult,’ she says. ‘Everyone has their idea of what you should look like. ‘You need to get into the gym.’ ‘You need to wear less clothes.’ ‘Wear dresses and skirts.’ ‘Put a weave in.’ ‘Cut your hair.’ ‘Color your hair.’ There are so many ways that others tug at you.”

To Hilson, posing naked stripped her back down to her real self. “We do a lot of things to seek validation: I have to get more expensive handbags or fake lashes or fake boobs. This shoot was about dropping all that.”

Akon joined the effort as well, saying, “I’ve had a lot of friends who’ve been in the situation where their friends and family have been affected by HIV. As I travel the world, I see how much HIV affects people. It’s not like we have a cure for HIV, we only have prevention. Make sure you are protected so that you don’t ever have to worry about it. Ever.”

Keri Hilson’s story really moved me, and it was amazing to see how she took her mistreatment during school and used it as motivation to succeed in her career as an entertainer. In her story, she mentioned, “Today, right now, I can tell you if your going through the same thing, if you have a dream that you’re fighting and others are telling you, “just keep it a hobby” or others are telling you, “I don’t think you’re talented enough,” or others are telling you, “you should probably get a real job” or others are telling you whatever it is they’re telling you about your dream, about your look, your likeness, whatever….it gets better, it gets better. But you have to make it better.
