Jay-Z has mastered the art of rapping and adapted an impressive business savvy. Now, the Roc Nation mogul must get parenting down pack! That won’t be too hard with fellow Hip-Hop heavy-hitters giving him fatherly advice.

“The Family Hustle” rapper–T.I.– tells Hov:

“Little girls are going to judge men they meet in the future based off how their father treated them.”

He adds: “You’ve got to be her first love, her first everything so when she run into nonsense in the street then she’ll know, ‘Nah, my daddy would never do it like that, so this isn’t even worth my time or attention.’”

The 150 attending include Kim Kardashian, her brother Rob and his girlfriend Rita Ora, plus Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna, Jay’s wife Beyonce and Kanye West – who is touring the UK with Jay.

A source said: “It’s at a top city venue after Jay and Kanye’s O2 show.

“There will be a dinner first cooked by a chef flown in from New York and then a huge party. “Security is going to be tight.”

Jay-Z & Will Smith Support President Obama’s Stance On Gay Marriage, Who Else Will?

While many religious communities, black communities and black and religious communities rebel against President Obama’s decision to support gay marriage, it seems President Obama has some Hollywood heavyweight support.

Will Smith told reporters in Berlin on Monday that “if anybody can find someone to love them and to help them through this difficult thing that we call life, I support that in any shape or form.” Smith thinks that President Obama’s stance on gay marriage is “brave” during this election year.

Jay-Z is also in support of our POTUS. In an interview with CNN, Jay-Z explained that supporting gay marriage was “the right thing to do” and that it’s something that holds our country back. “What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.” Jay-Z also dug into the root of the same sex marriage issue. It’s not about votes for Obama, it’s about the people.

It’s the people that you’d think would support Obama the most (aka the black people that voted him in office in 2008) that are seemingly turning their backs on him–well maybe not the entire way. Black pastors at various churches around the U.S. are conflicted about their support of President Obama since his decision to support gay marriage. Certainly Obama knew there would be backlash attached to his support, so I definitely appreciate how gangsta Obama was in supporting gay marriage, even though there would be some push back from his supporters. This just goes to show that no matter what the issue is and if Obama believes in it, he will stand for it. There’s something to be said about a President that believes in something–anything other than what the majority expects of him.

I wonder which superstar is going to be next in line to support President Obama’s decision to stand behind gay marriage? I also wonder when will churches start acting like Christians–you know–all accepting, all loving? Let’s discuss on Twitter @Rhapsodani.

Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z are reportedly looking for a home across the pond in London. The couple are said to have rented a townhouse in London close to good friends, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin and Simon Cowell after being recommended to make the move by family friends.

A source told the Sun:

“Both Jay-Z and Beyoncé are going to be spending a lot of time in London over the next few months. Jay is over here for his ‘Watch The Throne’ Tour and Radio 1′s Big Weekend and Beyoncé will be launching her perfume in Europe over the summer. They wanted to have somewhere more homely now they are parents.”

Jay’s touring pal Kanye West, who is also heading over for the tour, has reportedly booked out an entire floor of the posh Lanesborough hotel.

We’re sure there’ll be many Kimmy sightings, as the reality star has rearranged her schedule so she can join her new man while he’s on tour.

NY Post Writer Phil Mushnick Asks, “Is Jay-Z The Only NBA Owner To Call Black Men “N*****s?’”

Phil Mushnick may have boldly used the N-word to make a suggestion for the new name of the Brooklyn Nets, but it seems we almost ignored the rest of his offensive rant. Yes, I hate it when the N-wo rd is used by them and us, but that’s not my major issue with his rant.

To remind you–Mushnick said:

“Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N*****s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B*****s or H**s. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!”

So Mushnick went all the way. Not only did he suggest the offensive name, he thought the team logo should be a gun and the cheerleaders be b****** and h***? If you ask me, that’s the worst part of it all.

Yes the N-word stings, but to equate an entire culture to guns, b****** and h*** just because Jay-Z–an urban mogul–partly owns the team is the definition of a n*****–ignorant. I wouldn’t be quick to call Mushnick a racist. However his use of the N-word doesn’t make him one, it’s his misunderstanding of urban culture as a whole and misusing a reference just to get a rise out of the public.

His ignorance isn’t without merit. Hip hop does glorify a lot of the wrong things–drugs, sex, objectifying women, using the N-word, gangster life and the like. And Jay-Z has not been exempt in all of this, but his rugged image as a hip hop artist is separate from his polished image as a businessman and should be respected as such.

While I do think Mushnick’s point had legs to stand on; it eliminates the fact that Jay-Z, like many people, is multifaceted and one part of his life shouldn’t be judged in the way that Mushnick judged it. It’s like saying just because Tyler Perry owns his own studio, that when lunch is served, it should always be fried chicken, collard greens with watermelon on the side. Jay-Z may be a key influencer in the music industry, but he is not responsible for all urban culture, therefore making Mushnick’s b*****s, h**s and 9 mm suggestions all moot.

While Mushnick’s being criticized everywhere from Twitter to blogs and even major publications, he’s standing by what he’s said. I respect that the man isn’t backpedaling, but boldly replied via Bob Blitz saying:

Such obvious, wishful and ignorant mischaracterizations of what I write are common. I don’t call black men the N-word; I don’t regard young women as bitches and whores; I don’t glorify the use of assault weapons and drugs. Jay-Z, on the other hand…..Is he the only NBA owner allowed to call black men N—ers?”

Jay-Z profits from the worst and most sustaining self-enslaving stereotypes of black-American culture and I’M the racist? Some truths, I guess, are just hard to read, let alone think about.

(Same column I provide support for Amar’e Stoudemire at a time when everyone in town is ripping him to shreds. That was my LEAD, too, but what does that matter?)

However, just because I respect his willingness to stand by what he’s said, doesn’t mean that I respect Mushnick. Here’s a few things about Mushnick’s response–for one, yes, Jay-Z does glorify weapons and drugs in most of his songs, but why the correlation with that part of his career to the ownership of an NBA team? Another thing–yes, Jay-Z does indeed profit from sustaining stereotypes of black American culture, but that’s because he raps about the life he knows. It’s his truth, Mushnick, not yours. Oh and lastly, just because you wrote in the piece that you support Amar’e Stoudemire doesn’t automatically grant you forgiveness. What, we’re supposed to be supportive of you because you said something nice about another black man? Think again Mushnick because it’s clear that you weren’t during the writing of your initial rant.

NY Post Writer Says Brooklyn Nets Should Be “New York N******”

A New York Post sports writer–whose name isn’t even important–made a very bold statement in an article, claiming that the Brooklyn Nets should think about changing their name to the “New York N——” because rap mogul, Jay-Z is part-owner.

“Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N——s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B—-hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!”

Ok, sports writers are usually a bit douchey, so this type of language Phil Mushnick (I decided knowing who he is helps harass him via Twitter) uses is offensive, but it’s not without merit. This is a part of the age-old “we do it to ourselves” argument. When Jay-Z and Kanye West create songs with the “N word” in the title and sprinkled throughout the lyrics, as consumers of music, we’re left wondering if it’s even an offensive word anymore.

When rappers and other urban cool kids are throwing around the word freely, it tends to take the sting out of it, until of course it’s used by someone who’s challenged in the melanin department. Then all hell breaks loose and we’re ready to dial up Reverend Al Sharpton and the rest of the black authorities to march, rally or what have you. We–as black people–need to get to a point where this word isn’t even in our vocabularies. I know, it’s an unrealistic request, but until we do, folks like Mushnick are going to think it’s ok.

A few weeks back, I was sitting in my living room, piecing together a shelving unit with one my roommates who wore a sweatshirt that read, “Niagra University.” Another roommate of mine looked over at us, then cocked her head to the side, chuckled and said, “I thought that said N—– University!”

It took me about 45 seconds to process what I just heard and I had to hold my reaction back a bit because I didn’t want to scare the mousy Jewish girl that I find myself sharing a residence with. I had to educate her on just how wrong it is to throw that word out there, even if there was no malicious intent. I asked her why she thought it was ok and if the word was something she thought of as offensive. She was extremely apologetic and told me that she doesn’t even know why she said it.

To me, this was almost as bad as her having malicious intent. The fact that it slipped off her tongue with no pause, no qualms, no red face of embarrassment makes me realize that the word “n—–” still stings, but we’ve lost our ownership of it. While Mushnick and my roommate are in the wrong 100%, they are confused by the word because we use it so sparingly to refer to one another, that they feel the need to include it in their own vocabulary.

Jay-Z’s Watch The Throne counterpart Kanye West may have said it best, “Even if you in a Benz, you still a n—- in a coupe.”

Up until she gave birth, Beyonce could be spotted at any given time in a hot pair of heels. Despite the swollen ankles and weight most pregnant women complain about, Bey wouldn’t let go of her shoes. That was, until she actually delivered Blue Ivy.

Bey revealed to the NYPost: “I never thought there would be a day when I wouldn’t wear heels. Now that I have a child, I walk around holding her all day, I’m buying loafers and oxfords. I love them, because they’re comfortable,” she says. “And shorter heels too. I’d always thought, ‘The higher the heel, the sexier.’ But now I’m like, ‘These are really sexy.’”

According to Business Week, Rihanna and Jay-Z will be the two headline acts in the music lineup for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Roc Nation royalty will star in the BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012 (June 23-24) a month before the Games, the organizers of the Olympics cultural festival announced today.

London is the place to be this summer. If not for Rihanna and Jay-Z, then for Drake, Rita Ora, The Roots and Nicki Minaj, among others–who will all be on tour across the pond this summer!

Star magazine claims that they are already excited about adding to their family as they want their children to be close in age:

“They see no reason to wait.”

“Beyonce has said giving birth and dropping the baby weight was far easier than she thought.”

“It took them a while to conceive Blue Ivy, so they don’t want to waste another second.”

“Beyonce and Jay-Z adore being parents, and they’re as hands-on as they possibly can be. Beyonce has found a passion other than music, and it’s being a mom.”

The couple recently went for a romantic getaway to St. Barts with insiders saying they want to start trying as soon as possible.

“It took them a while to conceive Blue Ivy, so they don’t want to waste another second,” the insider revealed.

Rihanna’s been canoodling and making music with her ex-boyfriend, singer, Chris Brown and Jay-Z is none too pleased with her actions. According to an interview with RadarOnline, a source close to this situation says that Rita’s been on the Roc Nation roster for three years and Jay-Z has chosen now to introduce the world to her as punishment to Rihanna. Considering Rihanna’s fool in love behavior, I fully endorse any type of punishment because it’s deserved.

2. A League of Her Own

Remember when a cocky Rihanna claimed there was no one in her league. Well, it’s time she realizes she’s not the only hot girl that makes hot music.

3. Snatching Tracks

Rita’s already snatching tracks away from top artists like Rihanna. With Jay-Z behind her, she managed to snatch her debut U.S. single, “RIP” featuring Tinie Tempah that was written by Drake specifically for Rihanna. Might as well start her singing career with a boom!

I’ll admit I’m one of those conspiracy theorists about Beyonce’s pregnancy. I’m not the only one, so don’t crucify me, but honestly Beyonce’s public display of baby Blue Ivy these days is rubbing me the wrong way.

Both Beyonce and poppa Jay-Z have always been very private, despite their star-studded lives. They managed to keep their wedding a secret and everything about Blue Ivy was private and only shared on their terms.

I’ve never seen any celebrity have this much control over what the media releases about them, especially since we’re living in a time where even private wakes are desecrated with camera phone snaps of a fallen star at rest.

It all just seems so orchestrated and something’s just not sitting well with me. It’s not just the overtly public breastfeeding, it’s Blue Ivy’s entire existence that’s puzzling to me. Usually when folks are so adamant about showing something off, it’s like they’ve got something to prove. It’s as if Beyonce wants us to see that she’s a mother. We see you Bey, but I’m still not convinced, so here’s three reasons why Beyonce’s got me suspicious over Blue Ivy.

1. Under and Overexposure

Beyonce’s pregnancy timeline confused us all. From appearances to videos to paparazzi spottings, we never knew how far along Bey was. Her entire pregnancy was a stealthy mystery. Now at only seven weeks, Blue Ivy’s been hitting the streets, strapped to her superstar momma. It’s a little strange to me that now that Blue Ivy’s here, Beyonce’s very public with something that’s a bit private–breastfeeding.

2. Maternity Memories

Beyonce will murder any photoshoot she steps her Louboutin-clad feet in. She’s also very proud of her motherhood. Putting the two together, it seems Bey would have bared it all for a tasteful maternity shoot. If not to grace the cover of Essence, to at least share via her website or Jay’s blog.

3. What The Heel(s)?

Beyonce’s known for strutting around in her five inch and up stilettos without ever missing a step. She even did so while she was carrying Blue Ivy. So now after Blue Ivy’s birth, Beyonce’s strutting around in flats. There’s always a risk of falling whether carrying a baby in your womb or in your arms. Bey seems to be a bit more careful now. Hmm.

Beyonce and Jay-Z stepped out last night for the Knicks vs Nets game at Madison Square Garden. Beyonce sans makeup looked fresh-faced and gorgeous. Bey and Jay laughed it up during the game and even fist-bumped when Jay’s team scored a basket. Bey rocked a $495 Rag & Bone Silver Tuxedo blazer in lemon yellow, white t-shirt, black jeans, and shocker, a pair of Christian Louboutin Daffodile pumps. She accessorized with a Brooklyn Bridge double finger ring.

Jay-Z and Kanye West released the video for “N*ggas In Paris” and let’s just say when your video comes with an epileptic warning, you know you’re balling so hard.

Directed by Kanye, one can only assume there will be a high level of intelligent creativity.

And there is–panthers, shots of Parisian architecture, gorgeous screaming fans and a Will Ferrell cameo–all give us a small glimpse into the beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy that is Kanye’s mind.

“N*ggas In Paris” may be one of the most infectious songs from Watch The Throne–at least for me it is. Once that beat drops, I can’t help but bounce my shoulders and pretend my bank account rivals both Jay-Z and Kanye’s. So with the release of this video, the dynamic duo reminds us why we’re watching the throne in the first place.

Here’s three reasons why that sh*t is indeed cray.

1. If the first five seconds don’t give you a seizure, watching “N*ggas In Paris” in its entirety, will. Watch with extreme caution and hold your tongue, literally.

2. So, we’re still not going to say anything about Kanye and this leather skirt? Oh. ok.

3. In case you missed any of the Watch The Throne tour stops, ‘Ye and Jay give us a mini experience of the spectacle that was Watch The Throne. From a kaleidoscoped stage and modelesque crowd to the flashing lights–it’s not quite what the show was, but Kanye does manage to fully portray excitement.

Can’t get enough of the Throne? Jay-Z told MTV, “We – I say ‘we’ because I’m in Throne mode–we’re in a great place creatively. You might see a Jay, then Kanye and a Throne album next year. We’ve really found our zone.”

3 Reasons Why Rocawear Should Die A Slow And Painful Death

Jay-Z may be a brilliant business man and prolific lyricist, but not everything he touches turns to gold. His Rocawear clothing line has been steadily decreasing in sales and as of now, it’s taken a $500 million sales drop. The drop has caused many Manhattan employees to seek an unemployment line to reluctantly stand in.

Ever resilient, Jay’s got plans of breathing new life into Rocawear and here’s three reasons he might just want to take the L on this one.

1. Commercial Success

Jay-Z is creating a new commercial to remind his fans that he went from “Marcy to Madison Square.” Here’s a thought Jigga. We know that already. So how about you use all the money you’re planning on spending on this commercial as a severance package for those employees who lost their job because of Rocawear’s decline.

2. Occupy Wall Street(s)

2. When Rocawear developed the “Occupy All Streets” T-shirts, they sold out like hot cakes. Too bad Jay-Z didn’t think it was necessary to give any of the proceeds to the movement the T-shirts were inspired by–Occupy Wall Street. That’s just rude and so unsupportive. And you want people to support Rocawear?

3. Who Gon’ Wear These Boo?

When you’re a tastemaker and you decide to develop a clothing line, your line should reflect your personal style. I guarantee you that Jay-Z has absolutely no Rocawear in his closet and why would he. They’re pushing some stereotypically ghetto garb.

With 11 years under their Hermes belts, the ultimate power couple, Jay-Z and Beyonce have done the seemingly impossible. They dated, married and created a new life all while keeping their heavily publicized relationship 100% in tact. Back in 2002 when the couple first got together, when asked why Beyonce was the Bonnie to his Clyde, Jigga paused, laughed and after regaining his composure admitted that, “she’s a gangster and she goes hard.” It’s one of the most endearing moment’s we’ve seen in pop culture romances, solidifying just how unbreakable their bond is.

Why She Loves Him: Women typically always have an unbroken connection with their first. Beyonce made it big during her teenage years and really didn’t have the time to date like a boy-crazed adolescent. By the time she was 19, she was dating Jay-Z–one of the biggest hip hop heavyweights of our time and he set the standard for the superstar’s love life. “Fortunately I haven’t had any breakups. Jay Z is my first relationship,” Beyonce said in an interview with US magazine.

Why He Loves Her: Where there’s Jay’s love, there is respect and it’s not a secret that he respects everything about his wife’s hustler spirit and unwavering worth ethic. “What I’ve learned from her is similar to what I learned from Mike [Jackson] – and I know that’s blasphemy to compare the two because Mike was such an innovator – but I think she’s like the second coming,” said Jay-Z. “You know, the hard work and dedication that she puts into her shows. It just makes you want to work harder at your own craft. She’s like a machine,” he said in a radio interview with Miami’s 99 Jamz.

Why They Work: As frustrating as it is for the detail-hungry public, Jay and Bey manage to keep their very public lives a little bit private. Privacy can be the glue that holds this power couple together because when outside elements weigh in on your relationship, it causes a strain. How they can remain so allusive is beyond us, but we’ve witnessed it from the start of their union, to their wedding and to the birth of their first born. When Jay appeared on Oprah in 2009, he admitted, “When you live your life so out in the public, then your music and life are on display,” Hov added. “You need to separate from it. You can’t be in that light all the time. You need some type of escape from it. And that’s one thing that’s sacred and not in the public eye.”

Why We Love Them: Beyonce said it best, “The best thing about marriage is the amount of growth you have because you can no longer hide from your fears and insecurities. There’s someone right there calling you out on your flaws and building you up when you need the support. If you are with the right person, it brings out the best version of you.” These two lovebirds are inspiring. A lot of folks get married for the wrong reasons, Jay and Bey, waited, courted and realized that their love was everything each other needed. They provide one another with relationship essentials–support, growth and unconditional love.

Jay-Z re-opened his New York 40/40 nightclub after closing it last summer for renovations. Though his wifey Bey stayed home with the baby, the mogul hit the red carpet alongside Russell Simmons, Swizz Beatz, Ashanti and Selita Ebanks.

The ladies stole the show: Selita (who came arm-in-arm with new boyfriend Terrence J) wore a cream-colored dress with multi-print shoes and a fur coat, while Ashanti kept it simpler in a black satin gown with a plunging neckline.

After the hysteria surrounding her new born baby, Blue Ivy Carter has some-what subsided, Beyonce allegedly spoke out about giving birth and the cliche that proved true!

The new mom opened up to Star Magazine about her new role in life, saying:

“Nothing can describe the feeling. You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can’t be found.”

“It’s an old cliche that the thing expectant moms look forward to the most is holding their child in their arms for the first time, but it’s one of those clichés that is a real truth.”
