We’ve all heard of the side chick, aka the jump off. A lot of women wonder about the side chick. What woman, they think, would sacrifice her self respect for a man who’s already committed? I wondered the same thing until I decided these women must be getting SOMETHING out of  the situation besides sex. Right?? Check out my top reasons for being a side chick:

Plenty of free time. Let’s face it. If you’re in a serious relationship, a lot of your life is dedicated to your man. But a side chick’s time? She can go shopping, go out with her girls, hell go to Siberia while waiting to hear from her man. If he ever calls back, that is…

Your options are always open. Since she’s not technically in a relationship (and really, when did that ever stop anyone anyway), the side chick is free to try out other men while still being involved with a man she (usually) likes.

Your hair and nails are paid for. Okay, maybe this one isn’t true for everyone. Some side chicks are lucky to get a KFC biscuit from their man, but its the thought that counts. Presents given in guilt are extra special, after all!

I’m not some feminist freak. But if you ask a man to describe a woman a common first response may be the description of her physical appearance. Then he will continue into describing her intellect, education, and social skills.

1. We are deeply touched by the sight of babies.

2. When we seek validation we don’t need to look outside, because our strength lies within.

A woman is resourceful and independent. She uses her natural sex appeal and intelligence to get what she wants. Her influence on the opposite sex can conclude to the factor of her rarely having to rely on a man. A woman is selfish at times but only to benefit herself. She has the power and capability to manipulate in a way that no man will ever be able to feel or possess.

3. We are natural multi-taskers. We can run an office or a household, never tired of listening to problems and finding solutions when others have quit trying.

4. Women are good communicators and being able to connect with other people and share freely.

A woman is affectionate and sympathetic. A woman’s genetic make up produces her to express more emotion than the genetic make up of that of a male, but not to the point where women naturally become hysterically and emotional just because of the hormone estrogen. During communication women use something called “rapport talk” to establish intimacy and emotion. Why not? Men use something called “report talk” to convey information and self-importance. This is how men and women balance one another out. In a relationship there needs to be some type of emotion and women naturally bring this? Yes they do! “Rapport talk” is a wonderfully useful tool that all women ought to take into account and utilize and benefit from.

Women are now “bringing home the bacon and frying it up in the pan.” Women have buried the role of Betty the homemaker and dressing the part of the multi tasking businesswoman. Women are looked upon in a different way and gaining respect for both the stay-at-home mom and the full-time working mother. Women are standing stronger than ever. They have spoken and have been heard.

Let’s face it. For some women, a dry spell in the relationship department equals, well, lowered standards when someone with potential finally comes around. It can be easy to get swept up in the excitement of a new man-perhaps it causes you to overlook certain things.

You try to push that one conversation (okay, probably more than one) about relationship deal breakers you had with your friends out of your mind. “Short guys, are you kidding me?” You may remember yourself saying. Next thing you know, you’re considering someone who damn near rivals Ja Rule in the height department. “Well, at least I don’t have to wear heels anymore,” you may find yourself reasoning.

But let’s also be honest. Having an initial spark of attraction to someone is nice, but it’s not exactly bad or uncommon to eventually fall for someone who doesn’t mesh with all of your physical preferences. What’s more interesting are women who look past an average looking man with a sense of humor and a job in favor of some good looking (or not so good looking) guy who may or may not be employed.

For a lot of women, certain things become negotiable. People compromise all the time with relationship standards, but maybe a person should pause from time to time and consider what they are compromising about. Does your partner need to vote in major elections? Read? Drive, and not just on a suspended license? Is smoking a deal breaker?

Being labeled “picky” or having preferences regarding the opposite sex is one thing, but maybe we can (or should) all agree that overlooking your lovers values is a bit more risky then overlooking their height. Right?

How much are you willing to compromise when it comes to your standards?

I will not ever lie to you, Hello Beautiful readers: I am all about a good tasteless joke. In fact, oftentimes, the more tasteless, the better. It’s all about the execution, really. But when it comes to a t-shirt like the one in the picture above, well, I could just about puke on it.

Clothing company Rock the Bureau plays on urban colloquialisms on its t-shirts with phrases like “I [heart] My Bitches” on women’s tees and rap lyrics (Weezy’s “Fuck Bitches, Get Money” from the song “Get Money”) on men’s tees. But “I’ll Chris Brown A Bitch” is just such lazy tasteless humor that I can’t even get down with it.

For one thing, wordy tees are generally lame unless the message is a little witty and cryptic. At least, in my opinion. For another, what girl would really holler at a guy with a t-shirt that says “I’ll Chris Brown A Bitch”?!?!?! It’s like the anti-booty-getter in my book.

Am I bugging, or could Rock the Bureau have at least tried a little bit harder to make a clever joke out of a sad situation? They get no points for effort in my book.

If it wasn’t funny when Mike Tyson did it, it’s not really that funny now!
