Friends and family of the late designer Alexander McQueen gathered in London today to pay their final respects to the rebel designer at his funeral, held at St. Paul’s Church. Attendees included supermodels Naomi Campbel, Kate Moss and singer Lady Gaga.

According to mtv.com, while Moss and Campbell wore touches of eccentric pieces to the funeral that included fur and embellished hats, it was Gaga who arrived in the most eccentric get-up. The pop star, who wore McQueen often and very famously in her in “Bad Romance” video, arrived in a short black dress, her face fully veiled in black lace and the back of her dress tented out with a train.

Last we heard, a variety show – complete with monologues, skits, comedy sketches, and musical performances – was strictly for entertainment. What’s entertaining about a funeral?

Billie J. Green, the former head of the NAACP’s Beverly Hills branch, has written a letter blasting the national president Ben Jealous for allowing Michael Jackson’s televised memorial service to be nominated for the organization’s Image Award as a variety show.

He wrote:

“Even though entertainers did perform, it was still a memorial service/funeral to honor this young man.

The NAACP’s Image Awards were created to honor people who portrayed positive images of African-Americans in the entertainment industry. This show has always been a legitimate awards presentation. Unfortunately, this recent nomination of Michael Jackson’s memorial service/funeral has resulted in the ridicule of the Image Awards as a legitimate awards show. This nomination is an embarrassment to the past and present members of the NAACP and the African-American community as a whole.

As someone who has worked closely with the NAACP to create jobs and positive images in the entertainment industry, I am truly ashamed of this recent nomination. Please see below for some additional information that I have provided for your perusal.

Thank you for your time. I hope that you can do something to correct this situation.”

Just two weeks after his death, Steve McNair’s widow Mechelle McNair reveals her husband didn’t bother to prepare a will.

According to the AP, court documents revealed McNair didn’t have a will before being gunned down by his girlfriend two weeks ago.

A Nashville judge made Mechelle the administrator of McNair’s estate – ensuring that she and the two sons she bore McNair are well taken care of.

But what about his two sons from a previous relationship? Why would someone with his money not have a will drawn up?

The world said farewell to the King of Pop today. Fans poured into Los Angeles from places all around the world, hoping to collectively mourn their idol in a massive ceremony.

The ceremony started with Smokey Robinson reading personal messages from several of Jackson’s celebrity friends who could not attend including Diana Ross, who sent the following message:

“Michael was a personal love of mine, a treasured part of my life, part of the fabric of my life, in a way that I can’t seem to find words to express.”

UPDATE: OK! magazine is reporting that at 8 a.m. tomorrow, the family will gather together for a private funeral at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park before proceeding to the memorial service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

UPDATE: Debbie Rowe will NOT attend memorial service!! MSNBC just announced a quote from Rowe that she will NOT attend the memorial because she doesn’t want to take away the attention from Michael.

Radaronline.com is reporting that Michael Jackson will be buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills Tuesday morning, a few hours before the public memorial to be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The funeral will start at 8am PDT Tuesday, according to acting LA Mayor Jan Perry.

Debbie Rowe – mother to Michael Jackson’s two eldest children -will reportedly attend the memorial service on Tuesday.

Former business associate to Jackson, Marc Schaffel, told ABC’s Good Morning America that Rowe is confirmed for VIP seats to the event:

“Debbie will attend. We just got confirmation last night from the people who are handling the VIP seats that they do have Debbie’s seats and she will be attending,” Schaffel said of Tuesday’s memorial at the Staples Center.

“There has been outreach, unfortunately, like so many cases, there’s so much going on that they just have not been able to make contact,” he continued. “There were several tries, just for the fact of phone numbers
that had changed, you know, answering machines that were full. Contact had not been able to happen prior.”

UPDATE: CNN is now reporting that the Staples Center in L.A. will be the location for Michael Jackson’s memorial to take place Tuesday at 10 A.M. The 20,000-seat coliseum in downtown Los Angeles is also where Jackson rehearsed his show the night before he died.

UPDATE: It seems the rumors just won’t go away..Sources are saying that in order to score more prescription medications. According to tmz.com, Michael used multiple aliases to fill multiple prescriptions. Some of the more frequented names were Omar Arnold and Jack London, as well as the names of his bodyguards and the office manager for one of his doctors.

One source even reveals that the abuse was so serious, that one doctor would “call the pharmacy and say Jackson was coming down to get Demerol. The pharmacy would then fill the prescription, leaving the patient’s name blank.”

Why does this doctor still have a license???

UPDATE: TMZ reports:

The Jackson family has just released a statement via their newly acquired reps, saying there will be no public service for Michael Jackson at Neverland.

“Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland. Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson, and we will announce those plans shortly.”

UPDATE: The Associated Press is now reporting that the public memorial to take place at Neverland Ranch may not be happening there.

Authorities in Santa Barbara County had been preparing for tens of thousands of fans to descend on the 2,500-acre ranch after media reports that a public viewing would take place later this week.

A person, who is not authorized to speak for the family and requested anonymity, said nothing is planned for Neverland at least through Friday.

ORIGINAL: Michael Jackson’s body will be moved to Neverland Ranch on Thursday. A motorcade including upwards of 30 vehicles, one of which will have Jackson’s body, will leave L.A. at 10 AM.

Michael Jackson’s funeral is scheduled for Sunday. The Jackson family will have a private burial following a public remembrance ceremony, held on Friday at Neverland Ranch. The Jackson’s private memorial service is set for July 10 at U.S. Steel Works ballpark in Gary, Indiana. It is unknown where the burial site will be. The memorial service could prove even bigger than that of Elvis Presley or Princess Diana.
