What’s going on in her life.

I’ve been sober for two years, and a lot of people can’t say that. I’m timid, shy and broken a little bit by some of the responses [online], but then again so much support from the people saying “No! She’s none of that.” Real friends stepping up … And just showing me who the real people were in my life. It helped me find myself and find out that there’s a real true artist inside of me–that no matter what obstacles may come, he’s not going to let you fall, and he’s not going to let you down.

I started ministering to myself and looking at my heart … Finding my voice … And it just made me stronger. If it doesn’t kill you, it will make you stronger. Like Drake says, “It’s far from over…” I listened to the music that people were making, and it kept inspiring me. I started making music, and I just stepped out on a limb. My mom died … So much has happened. I miss people in my life. I miss LL [Cool J]. Debbie Allen came back to the community … And for once so many miracles. I swear so many miracles!

On the state of her career and the youtube videos that surfaced:

I went on to do movies, and nobody talked about it, and that hurt me. I did a movie called ‘Rim Shop’ after Katrina had happened in New Orleans. We went down there, and that place looked a mess, seriously. We shot a film out there just to help those people, to bring revenue in and just show our support to their situation. Then, I did a gospel kind of Tyler Perry play called ‘Friends and Lovers’.

“Mario was charged with second degree assault after police were called to Shawntia Hardaway‘s Baltimore apartment. She alerted the authorities that Mario, 24, was inside her apartment damaging property. According to police, Shawntia claims Mario started yelling at her and pushed her in her chest which caused minor pain. A broken china cabinet, mirror and busted door were also discovered at the scene.”

My heart burns for Mario and his situation with his mother, as I too have family members who have fallen victim to the monster that is crack cocaine. I empathize with his wanting to do whatever it takes attitude to prevent his mother from losing her life to drugs but to what end? At what point do you give up on a person who no longer wants to be saved? A person who is so deep in their own personal abyss that they cannot see an end to it.

You can answer the question in one of two ways. One being that Mario is a successful singer who has his entire life ahead of him. He should not risk his life or career being put to an end for the sake of saving someone who does not want to be saved; even if that person is his own mother.  The second way is that Mario only has one mother. It does not matter how successful he is or may become, his bond with his mother is everlasting and he should do whatever it takes to cement that bond and to save her. It is his duty to her.

There is no right or wrong answer to this. My heart understands the attachment that Mario has to his mom. Crackhead or not that still and always will be his mother.  Violence is never the answer but I also understands his frustrations with her. It is in a child’s nature to want their parents to be healthy and happy. The reverse can also be said for parents and their feelings towards their children.  In that realm, I would encourage Mario and any other child who has a parent who is addicted to a substance to never give up on them.

Then there is the more rationale side of me that knows that people who are on a downward slide in their life can sometimes drag those who are the closest to them down as well. They do not necessarily do it purposely but they are so immersed in their own filth that they cannot prevent it from seeping over unto others. The fear that this “filth” might somehow affect Mario and others close to his mother is what would lead me to encourage him to distance himself from her and allow her to live her life as she sees fit. I would say never stop loving her, but never allow her issues to affect your life any more than they have. Even if that means giving her distance and letting her make her own decisions in regards to her own life.

As I mentioned earlier, when it comes to matters of the heart, there is not one right answer. Those of you who are reading this and may have experienced a situation similar to this with a family member probably can relate more to the heart wrenching dilemma that this entails.

Up For Discussion: When a family member is on drugs and never is able to or wants to get off, at what point do you give up on them? Should you ever give up on them?  How far would you go to save a family member on drugs?

Just when you thought that the government did not have a sense of humor, here comes the nonsense. Honestly, I’m not sure as to whether to be insulted or intrigued by this so I will leave this one for you kind people. The Drug Enforcement Administration is seeking to hire nine people to translate conversations picked up on wiretaps during investigations.  An inquiry was sent to contractors as part of a request to companies to provide hundreds of translators in 114 languages.  And Ebonics is one of them.

They are seeking to hire translators in the following states: Atlanta, Georgia; Washington D.C.; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Miami, Florida; One catch is that you may be required to testify in court in regards to what you interpreted on the tapes. This is not a joke.

I appreciate the DEA’s diligence in trying to catch the bad guys and being willing to go far and beyond the norm if necessary to do so. I can also support this more so than I did them teaching Ebonics in school. If you recall a few years ago, there was talk of schools teaching Ebonics in the classroom. I felt that this would be a waste of time because Ebonics is a steady changing language that alters by region and kids do not need extra help in learning a language that they share with their peers during valuable school time.

Yet, deep down inside, I still feel a hint of racism and classism. As if they are saying we cannot understand these animals so we need to get an interpreter who can speak their coon language. Am I reading too much into this?

In my opinion, the DEA seeking out Ebonics speakers is also different than them teaching Ebonics in school because they are not promoting Ebonics. Unfortunately, Ebonics can be a curse for those who have no idea when or how to speak proper English. Again, this is why on one hand, I actually think that this might be a useful tool for the DEA. If they feel that not being able to interpret the drug dealers is a weakness than they should do everything necessary to put their best effort in their fight against drugs. I do feel this way but again, the nagging image that they are laughing and saying ‘We can’t speak this poor people s**t’ still comes rushing to my head.

What truly amazes me is the respect and attention that Ebonics has been getting. First the discussion of teaching it in school and now this? By seeking out interpreters for Ebonics is the DEA promoting bad language skills? Are you insulted by the DEA’s approach? Do you feel that this approach is at all racist?

Sources are saying not only is Whitney Houston back on drugs but she’s spending up to $300K a year to keep up her habit.

According to The National Enquirer Whitney’s friends are worried about her and believe she is in a downward spiral that will take her life. Her entourage supposedly recruited a drug dealer and bought $6,000 worth of cocaine during one of her Europe tour stops, according a person who claims they were an eyewitness to the deal.

The Enquirer says according to their own in-depth investigation, Whitney has spent around $6,300 a week on drugs, which amounts to $327,600 a year.

Her friend Marlon David, a party promoter told the Enquirer:

Whitney is a dead woman walking! With the amount of drugs she’s buying, she won’t be able to live long. She’ll be dead in months.

One of my favorite train wrecks Frankie has been out and about speaking to families and telling her story about how she has stayed clean for almost three years:

” People see me out having fun and loving life and think that I am back on that stuff, but thats not the case at all and I never plan on going back – – I love my family and love my life and dont need any of that stuff. Things are hard some times but I know too stay strong and focus on God and everything will work out. I am not on any Drugs people please stop saying that and man up.”

CBS has reported that there is now a line of Ecstasy pills made in the image of the 44th president of the United States, according to Texas police who have snatched a batch off the streets.

A stash of the brightly colored tablets was found Monday during a south Texas traffic stop. Police in Palmview detained a driver after finding black tar heroin, cocaine, marijuana and several Ecstasy pills in the back of his car.  The drugs look like a “vitamin for kids,” police spokesman Lenny Sanchez said. Police say that other Ecstasy pills they found were made to look like the cartoon characters Homer Simpson and the Smurfs.

The 22-year-old driver is expected to face felony drug possession counts.

Ecstasy is known for a sense of elation, diminished feelings of fear and anxiety, and ability to induce a sense of intimacy with others.

It’s easy to get swept up in a relationship when you fall in love and everything seems perfect, but not all relationships are meant to last. You may need to end things when they start to go badly before it turns to disaster.

Here are some tips to help you make the transition smoother:

1) Set high standards for yourself. You want to be with someone who treats you with respect and dignity. Don’t want to settle for less than you are worth. End the relationship if you’re not in love anymore and you’ve tried counselling. When you’ve tried everything you can and the feelings are gone, it’s time to walk away.

2) Leave on good terms instead of waiting for the hatred to set in. Recognize when you aren’t getting what you need from the relationship. Follow your gut instinct instead of waiting until the perfect time to end the relationship because the perfect time never really comes.

3) Be realistic. You don’t want to kid yourself into thinking things will get better if they just keep getting worse. End things immediately if the other person suffers from addiction, alcoholism or it the person abuses you. Remind yourself that you are a worthy person who deserves better.

4) Walk away if someone else is involved in the relationship. Show a cheater that you expect to be respected and treated decently. You can give the person a second chance if they are truly sorry but don’t stay if the cheating continues. 5

5) Plan to get counseling for yourself and your kids. Even if relationship counseling doesn’t work, you still need help adjusting to the changes. Talk to someone like a friend, counsellor or pastor about your decision. You will feel better talking about your concerns and you may want to hear an outsider’s point of view.

6) Think about the future in a positive way. Value your independence and embrace the changes. Look ahead and see yourself happy when someone new walks into your life.

7) Get your financial concerns in order and make sure you have a place to live. Take care of your basic needs like food and shelter.

Just one day after Whitney spoke to Oprah about her rocky relationship with ex-husband Bobby Brown, the R&B crooner opened up to The Insider about his marriage while promoting his upcoming ‘Behind The Music’ special.

Bobby Brown claims he and ex-wife Whitney Houston “corrupted each other”.

The singer – whose marriage to Whitney legally ended in 2007 – thinks both he and his former spouse were responsible for dragging each other into drug addiction.

He told the ‘The Insider’: “I think we corrupted each other. I don’t think she hurt me or I hurt her in anyway. I just think we had a 14-year marriage that had its ups and downs, and not many people understood it.”

The 40-year-old star believes he and 46-year-old Whitney started experimenting with cocaine and marijuana because things weren’t right in their marriage.

Bobby – who has a 16-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina with the ‘I Look to You’ singer – added: “I just think I was bored. I had just gotten married, and things weren’t right and I turned to alcohol and drugs. Cocaine is a powerful drug. I used an awful lot and can’t take that back.”

Bobby’s revelations come after Whitney told Oprah Winfrey in a TV interview that she and her then-husband would ‘freebase’ crack cocaine in marijuana joints at the height of their drug use.

She also accused Bobby of being jealous of her worldwide fame and success in the early 90s when his own career began to falter in the wake of his 1988 hit album ‘Don’t Be Cruel’.

She said: “I think somewhere inside, something happens to a man when a woman has that much control or has that much fame.”

It’s her tenth time on the cover and this time around, she discusses her mission to save women from poverty and abuse, and with the help of a few questions from fans, touches on the topics of drugs, marriage, and staying at the top of the music game. Here are a few excerpts:You had to suffer through physical, emotional and drug abuse.

At what point did you decide enough was enough? Who introduced you to the recovery process that seemed to transform your life? - James A. Johnson, Richmond
Mary J. Blige: It was during the “No More Drama” album when I realized: if I don’t do something, I’m not going to be here anymore. I made a decision to get help, not from any rehabs or anything like that, but I prayed and asked God to send me someone to help me. And he sent me help in the form of a man, and it was my husband, Kendu Isaacs. That’s my friend who helped me to get to a point of asking myself questions like, “Why am I doing this?” With him I had to go meet the message that was coming from the messenger. At that point, I was finished with everything. God works in mysterious ways.

Although this is not your first movie [Mary's debut was "Prison Song" in 2001], what challenges did you face filming? - Letia Mitchell, Danbury, Connecticut
MJB: Getting into this character, Tanya, was hard, because it was like a blank canvas, and I had to fill it in. Actors and actresses don’t get the credit that they deserve, because they have to develop this person. After reading the script, I know who Tanya is. She’s a protector of people. But I had to give her a backstory; I had to give her an age, a first date, siblings. Does Tanya have a mom? A dad? How did she become a recovering alcoholic? I had to go do all that background work.

Do you feel any pressure to keep pumping out hits because of the younger artists? - Angie Kyles, Los Angeles
MJB: I feel no pressure. I pump out hits for my fans. They just want to hear from me. I don’t compete with the young generation, I learn from them. I listen to what they’re saying, so I can get a little bit of that, so we can cross, so we can have an understanding and hear each other.

The search warrants that were served on June 29, four days after Michael Jackson was pronounced dead, have been unsealed. According to the documents, police discovered two bags of marijuana, a bottle of Temazepam (used to treat insomnia), empty bottles of Lorzaepam and Diazepam, which are sedatives, and four other empty pill bottles in which the contents are unknown.

The warrants also disclosed that when he died, detectives were concerned he had “received injection of an unknown medication, prior to his death.” Other documents have since revealed that Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray, had been giving the singer the anesthetic propofol intravenously.

The papers also stated that “family members of the decedent notified Los Angeles County Coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter that they had located a quantity of tar heroin in [Jackson's] bedroom on the second floor of the residence. Winter notified LAPD detectives of the found evidence.” However, there is no mention in the warrant if the substance really turned out to be heroin.

UPDATE: We just found out that Michael Jackson’s death has been ruled a homicide. According to msnbc.com,The Los Angeles County coroner ruled Michael Jackson’s death a homicide, a law enforcement official told the Associated Press on Monday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the findings have not been publicly released. A spokesperson for the coroner’s office told Access Hollywood that the office had no comment on the AP report.

Dateline NBC’s Josh Mankiewicz confirmed that Murray is the target of a manslaughter probe.

Michael Jackson had lethal levels of Propofol in his system when he died, this according to a search warrant affidavit filed in Houston.Dr. Conrad Murray told cops he had been treating Jackson for 6 weeks for insomnia — giving him 50 milligrams of Propofol every night through an IV.

Murray told cops he feared Jackson was getting addicted so he reduced the dosage to 25 mg.

The morning Jackson died, Dr. Murray gave Jackson valium at 1:30 AM. Murray said the valium didn’t work so he gave the singer an IV injection of lorazepam — an anti-anxiety drug. Murray told cops Jackson was still awake, so he then gave him midazolam — a sedative.

Murray gave Jackson more drugs. He says at 10:40 AM, he administered 25 mg of Propofol. Dr. Murray told cops Jackson repeatedly demanded the drug.

As we first reported, cops found 8 bottles of Propofol in Jackson’s house after he died, but they do not know where it was purchased.

Cops also found Valium, Tamsulosin, Lorazepam, Temazepam, Clonazepam, Trazodone and Tizanidine, along with the Propofol.

The various drugs were prescribed by Dr. Murray, Dr. Arnold Klein and Dr. Allan Metzger.

Dr. Murray reportedly told cops 10 minutes after administering Propofol … he “left Jackson’s side to go to the restroom and relieve himself. Murray stated he was out of the room for about 2 minutes maximum. Upon his return, Murray noticed that Jackson was no longer breathing.”

Dr. Murray says he began CPR and at some point ran downstairs and asked the chef to send up Prince Jackson, the eldest son, to continue CPR.

Dr. Murray says he noticed that Jackson wasn’t breathing at around 11 AM. He was then on the cell phone for 47 minutes with 3 separate calls, from 11:18 to 12:05. The 911 call came in at 12:21 PM …. a much longer delay than originally reported.

Dr. Murray told cops other docs had administered Propofol to Jackson, including Las Vegas Dr. David Adams. Dr. Murray said he was at a cosmetologist’s office where Dr. Adams gave Jackson Propofol.

Interestingly, according to the warrant, Dr. Murray refused to sign the death certificate at the UCLA Medical Center.

As someone who makes a career of being a delicious haute mess, I try not to throw stones, but my research had me wanting to toss boulders at this brother. Then I heard my mom’s words in my ear: “We’re all only human.” I said yes to the interview, but only if I could ask him the hard questions. Remember how cute actress Maia Campbell from In The House used to be?  Well those looks are a thing of the past.  According to mediatakeout.com the actress is strung out on meth.

One of the gossip website’s faithful readers caught up the actress Maia Campbell and had this say:

Me and a friend of mine went to another friends house, [but] before we get to the porch he stops us and tells us that the girl on the porch was from [the show] In The House. As we approached the porch I looked dead into her glassy eyes and new it was her.

She said she was sleepin on venice beach, and needed someone to do her hair, my boy said she was walking up and asked him where the weed was, and than came back and asked for someone to do her hair.

As we’re seating there she’s trying hard to eat some tacos she ordered, shaking and shit like she had to go pee…she asked who had a car, I said I did, and she asked if me and my stud home girl (we both look like cute boys) did we wanna go shopping.

We both said yeah, but she asked me to take her to her “cousins” house first, somewhere on [ADDRESS REDACTED]. Anyway, she’s jumpin’ around and gettin happy in the back seat as we’re pullin up, no doubt getting’ her fix. She runs to the car tryna fix her shit, and I had to kick her ass out, like..”Bitch we only smoke kush in here!!!’

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – A reigning Mexican beauty queen from the drug-plagued state of Sinaloa was arrested with suspected gang members in a truck filled guns and ammunition, police say.

Miss Sinaloa 2008 Laura Zuniga stared at the ground, with her flowing dark hair concealing her face, as she stood squeezed between seven alleged gunmen lined up before journalists. Soldiers wearing ski masks guarded the 23-year-old model and the suspects.

Zuniga was arrested shortly before midnight on Monday at a military checkpoint in Zapopan, just outside the colonial city of Guadalajara, said Jalisco state police director, Francisco Alejandro Solorio.

Zuniga was riding in one of two trucks, where soldiers found a large stash of weapons, including two AR-15 assault rifles, .38 specials, 9mm handguns, nine magazines, 633 cartridges and $53,300 in U.S. currency, Solorio said Tuesday.

State police identified one of the men caught with her as the brother of an alleged drug trafficker from Ciudad Juarez, a city on the U.S. border, and said the man appeared to have been her boyfriend.

Zuniga told police that she was planning on traveling to Bolivia and Colombia with the men to go shopping, Solorio said.
