Foxy Brown finally got a break…Prosecutors dropped all but one charge against the hot-headed rapper, who faced seven years in prison for violating a restraining order.According to the NY Daily News, Foxy appeared in Brooklyn Criminal Court for a 1 minute 22 second hearing and learned the grand jury failed to indict her with two felonies and three of four misdemeanors.

“I’m so happy, I’m just very happy,” said Brown, dressed to the nines in a skimpy teal dress, dark sunglasses, a leopard print scarf and tan platform shoes.

“Never once did I worry about this,” she said.

UPDATE:

A judge in Chicago ordered sheriff’s deputies to take Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade’s estranged wife into custody after she failed to show up for a Monday divorce hearing.

Siohvaughn Wade will have to post $10,000 bond to be released, Cook County Circuit Judge Marya Nega said. The sheriff’s department couldn’t immediately say when the order would be carried out.

“When things don’t go according to Mrs. Wade’s way all of a sudden the phone’s turned off,” said Nega, clearly exasperated when Siohvaughn Wade’s attorney explained she had not been able to reach her client.

After she chose not to show up for Monday morning’s divorce hearing, Siohvaughn Wade has been threatened by Judge Marya Nega.

At the hearing Monday morning, Cook County Circuit Judge Marya Nega said the contentious breakup involving the Miami Heat guard and Siohvaughn Wade was “beginning to spiral out of control.” Wade attended court Monday morning but his estranged wife did not appear. Bobby Brown is heading to court for a trial on his bid to lower his child-support payments. Whitney Houston’s ex says he has no source of income and is struggling to come up with the 5,500-dollar a month he dishes out to Kim Ward, mother of two of his children.

According to Norfolk Register of Probate Patrick MCDermott, Brown has been granted a day in court in a bid to prove he has “had a material change in his circumstances”. MCDermott tells the Boston Herald newspaper, “It’s for the judge to decide. But he has to prove he has had a material change in his circumstances in order to get his support payments modified.”

This isn’t the first time Bob’s had trouble paying his child support. He even had to spend a few nights in jail once because he owed Kim over $45,000.00.

Bobby is due in court June 24.

He is also dad to Bobbi Kristina, his 17-year-old daughter with ex-wife Houston, and a two-year-old son from another relationship.

Nas appeared in court yesterday over his divorce with Kelis — and walked out a little lighter in the wallet.

According to documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Nas had to immediately fork over $47,249.42 in back child support and $40,454 in back spousal support.

The judge also ordered Nas to pay $10,000/month in spousal support until he pays off the $299,015.50 he owes Kelis.

Nas also has to pay 90% of Kelis’ legal fees in the amount of $155,787.28.

Cole — a platinum-selling artist — was being sued by an event promoter who claims she blew off an appearance in 2006 after he paid her $15,000 up front.

The judge not only ruled against Cole, but she blasted the singer in her written opinion, saying Cole’s testimony was “confused and at times nonsensical.”

But the judge’s biggest shot: Cole appeared so reluctant to read certain documents while testifying, “that it appears at times that she was not literate.”

Eventually, the judge realized Cole was literate — when Cole managed to read documents that she thought helped her case.

Ultimately, Cole was ordered to fork over nearly $160k in damages.

Singer-songwriter Anita Baker will NOT go to jail today and is negotiating to allow a judge to research how much her ex-husband is owed in music royalties. 

Apparently all this drama started when Anita and husband got divorced. Walter and Anita have known each other for over 30 years and were married for nearly 23 years. The couple were together throughout Anita’s career, and Walter claims that he helped her with some of her more popular recordings.

When they split, they decided to share joint custody of their two sons, Walter Jr (16) and Edward (15). As part of the divorce,the couple agreed to split all of Anita’s recording money and royalties 50-50. (now why would you do that Anita??)

According to a Detroit newspaper, a judge ordered Baker to attend a contempt of court hearing this morning after she failed Thursday to explain why she hadn’t followed orders to sign letters authorizing a court-appointed expert on music industry contracts to seek information from record companies about payments for the music she has written and performed.

Baker got her chance to speak under oath to the judge today, expressing her anxiety about being under the threat of jail.

Baker complained that “experts” have dominated court proceedings since her divorce from Walter Bridgforth Jr. in 2007, and she wanted to speak directly to the judge. “I’m being muzzled,” Baker complained. “My attorneys agree that I know more about music contracts than they do. But I’m not allowed to talk. I invented my music out of thin air, but they have to talk for me, ‘This little woman can’t talk.’ If I’d invented Ford, they would talk to me

“If the judge tells me at the end of the day that I have to sign, I’ll comply. But I want her to hear my side. I’m not saying I’m right. I just want to be heard.”

The man accused of stalking R&B singer Ashanti, appeared in court today and told the jury that a fleeting encounter with the singer convinced him of their “connection.”

According to the NY Daily News, Devar Hurd, on trial for sending X-rated texts to the R&B singer’s mom, said he made “strong eye contact” with Ashanti at a 2003 Chicago concert.

“We had strong eye contact and I’m like, ‘Oh, I need to get in touch with her,’” he said.

The Indiana man, who is jailed on Rikers Island, is charged with sending pictures of his genitals and lurid texts fantasizing about sex with Ashanti.

On the witness stand in Manhattan Supreme Court, Hurd gushed about Ashanti breezing past him at the concert in a “sexy top” as her mom, Tina Douglas, threw him a “Wazzup?”

“She just happened to be coming right down my aisle, and I was like, ‘Hey momma,’” Hurd said.

The 31-year-old man is accused of deluging Douglas with unwanted calls and texts as far back as 2006.

In often-rambling testimony, Hurd described himself as an aspiring singer and model who dabbled in real estate, home security systems and car sales.

“I’m CEO of Authorized Records, but I don’t have any distribution,” he said

Brown must perform 180 days of community labor. He must also pay $2,500 in restitution. He’ll have to pay another $2,500 in probation expenses. He must also pay a $30 criminal conviction fee –BARGAIN! He must also pay $400 that goes into a domestic violence fund.

The judge issued a protective order. Brown is ordered not to harass, assault, threaten, molest, threaten, etc. Rihanna. He must surrender all firearms within 24 hours. He can’t have any contact with Rihanna, even on the phone or through a 3rd person. He must stay 100 yards away from her, unless there’s an entertainment-related event, in which he must stay 10 yards away. The protective order lasts 5 years.

Brown must get prior approval before leaving the country.

Brown jumped the gun and said he accepted the terms of probation, even before the judge finished her sentence.UPDATE: The judge just said she wanted to reiterate that she wanted him to do hard time … like washing cars, grafitti removal, etc.

Chris Brown’s sentencing has been delayed until August 27.  According to the NY Daily News,the judge said she wants Brown to perform Caltrans-type work — hard labor — for his community service. The plan for the community service in Virginia was not fully in place, so the judge wants to see the full schedule at the end of the month.

The judge wants to know what Brown will be doing for his community service — 90% of the community service is accounted for but the remaining 10% needs to be locked down.

Rihanna’s lawyer, Donald Etra, appeared at the hearing to ask the court to ditch an order of protection barring Brown from coming within 50 yards of Rihanna. Etra did not get a chance to make the request Wednesday.

What a wimpy ending to an explosive situation!

Of course, I am not surprised about Chris Brown and Rihanna not being the most compatible of couples. I have spoken publicly about their mismatched love planets for at least a year on BET’s Black Carpet, numerous radio shows and on my website long before they had their violent ‘knock down, drag out fight!’

The challenging connection between their planets Mars,(the planet of violence) and Pluto,(the planet of hidden situations) left much to be desired in terms of these two being able to have a stable long term relationship. Knowing that Riahnna’s Moon is in the hot and heated sign of Aries and Chris’ Moon being in the cool and unstable sign of Gemini, gave a big hint that this relationship just wasn’t going to work, but, violence is a whole other case!

And so, here we are at the close of the battery case of Chris Brown beating up his once girlfriend Rihanna, with Chris pleading guilty and accepting the blame! Under no circumstances is it OK for a man to put his hands on a woman for any reason, but what many would have liked to know was “Chris, what happened that night that pushed you over the edge?” Because so far, only one side of the story has been partially told, and there are many who feel that there are other mitigating circumstances in this situation that would make a big difference in public opinion regarding both Chris and Rihanna.

In other words, if you strike a match to gasoline, you get an explosion! But, now that his guilty plea of felony is in, I guess the public will never really know all the details of that life changing incident. And, assuming that he was following the advice of his attorney’s by not going into details helped his legal case,( as he received 5 years probation, 180 days of community service as well as domestic violence counseling,) but will it help his reputation in the ‘court of public opinion?’

Taking a look at Chris Brown’s planets, a Taurus born 5/5/1989, reveals that next year he will have some tough aspects to his ‘public image’ and he will never be seen in the same light as before the Rihanna case.

His chart suggests that he should take the ‘high road’ with this ‘lesson’ and help others by speaking out publically against violence and how to avoid violent confrontations, using his experience as a learning tool for those who might also have tempers issues. Owning up and being responsible for his actions can allow him to regain his credibility, as no one is perfect! Accepting personal flaws and using them for the betterment of others can bring him to a different understanding and maybe even a new career path!

Chris Brown has copped a plea in his assault case. He won’t do jail time. He’s also been ordered to completely stay clear from Rihanna.

He’ll spend 180 days doing hard labor in Virginia which is where Brown lives – it’s equivalent to Caltrans or graffiti cleanup.

He gets 5 years probation for FELONY assault — he pled guilty. He’ll get supervised probation. He’ll have to come back to court every three months.

He must enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.

The judge said she wanted to make sure that Chris Brown “was treated as any other person who comes through this court.”

Rihanna will come fact to face with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in court today.

According to tmz.com, Rihanna will take the stand in a preliminary hearing which is set to begin at 1:45 PM PT.

Rihanna’s testimony is very important to this case and folks are hoping she sticks to the story she told cops the night of the beating. Rihanna told the cops Chris had beaten her before and the violence was escalating.

UPDATE: Looks like Chris did not get his wish, he WILL have to face Rihanna in court on Monday.

According to radaronline.com, the California Supreme Court rejected an appeal by Chris Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos to postpone what could be an explosive preliminary hearing set for next Monday for the R&B singer, who’s charged with threatening and beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

The ex-lovers are both expected to appear in court Monday.

Chris Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos, is requesting a delay in his alleged assault case.

Apparently, Geragos needs more time to prepare for the hearing that is scheduled for June 22. No word on when the court will give him an answer.

Eonline says, Defense attorney Mark Geragos asked the California Supreme Court to postpone his client’s upcoming preliminary hearing on assault charges until after a judge has ruled whether the defense can have access to the LAPD’s records of its investigation into the Rihanna photo leak.

The singer will appear at Chris’ June 22 hearing at the Los Angeles Superior Court after she was served in person on Tuesday.

According to People magazine, Rihanna’s lawyer Donald Etra confirmed: “Rihanna was served at my office by Los Angeles District Attorney investigators. If the preliminary hearing indeed goes forward, she is now legally required to be there, she will be there and will answer all questions truthfully.”

The purpose of the hearing is to determine if there’s enough evidence to hold Chris over to trial. Rihanna will also be subject to cross-examination by Chris’ attorney Mark Geragos.

Rihanna will have to face her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in a court room next month at a preliminary hearing next month.

Eonline says that Rihanna’s attorney, Donald Etra has confirmed that Rihanna will be called to testify at the June 22 preliminary hearing in Brown’s felony assault case.

“The judge advised me that there will be a subpoena for Rihanna as a witness at the preliminary hearing,” Etra said following a morning hearing. “She will definitely comply.”

Chris’ attorney Mark Geragos also confirmed that the R&B star will indeed be present to hear the testimony.

According to Geragos, the prosecution will outline their case against the embattled R&B star. Aside from Rihanna, the D.A. is expected to call the officers who were first to respond to the scene and find the bloodied and abandoned Rihanna.

According to mtvnews.com, his attorney told Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Schnegg that he intends to file a motion soon seeking access to Los Angeles Police Department records that may help Chris’ case.

The motion seeks access to personnel records, and Geragos told Schnegg he was looking for evidence of possible police misconduct.

Chris Brown pleaded not guilty earlier this month to charges stemming from his February altercation with Rihanna, and is due back in court today.

According to mtvnews.com, Brown will appear in Los Angeles County Criminal Court for a status conference and there’s a remote chance his attorney, Mark Geragos, will announce that a plea deal has finally been reached.
