FROM FREDDYO: A source has reported that Maxwell has canceled the rest of his concerts because he isn’t getting along with Jill Scott and Erykah Badu. They said he was pissed because both the ladies went over on their time.

They also said that all of Maxwell’s concerts after the NYC stop on June 26th have been postponed or canceled but, according to Ticketmaster, only tomorrow’s show (June 17) has been.

We’ll have to keep an eye out for this one…

FROM RAP-UP: Stormy weather and a power outage caused Erykah Badu to cancel her show at Chene Park in Detroit on Friday (June 4). Badu delivered the disappointing news to concertgoers. The show has been rescheduled to August 12.

A fan wrote:

I was at this concert … and it was the most disappointing thing ever. Chene park staff never even bothered to come out and let the concertgoers know that they were having technical difficulties … and Badu didn’t deliver this news until the fans commenced to booing … after we’d waited 2 hours in the rain waiting on her.

I understand this was out of anyone’s control … but a heads-up somewhere in that 2 hour waiting period would have been nice.

Still LOVE Erykah tho and that’ll never change! I’ll just have to associate her with something else … and surely not this event.

The soul songstress recently shot a video for the remix to “Window Seat” with Rick Ross. In the clip, the Bawse comes to bail Badu out of jail in his Porsche Panamera Turbo.

Singer Bobby Brown proposed to his girlfriend of nearly three years, manager Alicia Etheridge, on Friday while on stage at his show at Metro Park in Jacksonville, Florida.

According to PEOPLE, Etheridge joined Brown on stage, holding their 11-month-old son, Cassius, when he got down on one knee and presented her with a ring. The crowd cheered on the couple as she kissed him and accepted the proposal.

After her a concert in Australia on Monday, fans walked out of Whitney Houston’s concert early declaring it a disappointment.

According to perezhilton.com, Whitney  only sang two songs before she exited the stage to take a break. She appeared out of breath, coughed through songs and when she returned to sing through six more numbers, she handed the microphone over to her brother Gary to sing.

“She was not fit to perform. She seemed to be on another planet, and the concert was laughable. When the back up singer’s performance is the stand out for the night you know something is wrong,” said a concert goer.

There has been a ton of controversy surrounding Beyonce’s “I AM…” World Tour stop on the island of Trinidad scheduled for tomorrow, and apparently her PR team has cooked up an awesome damage control scheme.

It was reported that Beyonce‘s performance would cost the small island country nearly 30 million dollars-money which would have to come out of the fund set aside by the government for the carnival festivities also taking place this week. Many Trinidad citizens were peeved at the idea of removing funds from the long standing Carnival tradition in favor of a one time Queen-Bey concert.

Beyonce the benevolent has struck back, however, by offering free concert tickets to 300 lucky Trinis. According to her publicity team,

After her sold out “I AM…” World Tour, international superstar Beyoncé marks the last date of the South American leg of the tour by donating 300 tickets to lucky fans in Trinidad. The fans will be chosen by The United Way of Trinidad and Tobago and the tickets will be distributed on the morning of Thursday, February 18, 2010. Beyoncé will perform in Queen’s Park Savannah the evening of February 18 with local soca star Machel Montana on the bill as the opening act.

This concert is part of Beyoncé recently extended 2009 South American tour featuring a series of live concerts that began February 4, 2010 at Parque Planeta in Florianópolis, Brazil. The two-week run took the entertainer from Brazil to Argentina, Chile and Peru. She played to her biggest live concert audience ever in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where a crowd of 60,000 fans gathered. Hopefully she will be able to provide a few extra Trinidadian concert-goers with an equally good time.

21-year-old Rihanna recently shared her first concert experience with iTunes. “My very first arena concert was Beyoncé/Alicia Keys/Missy Elliott [in 2004]. I think it was the ‘Ladies First’ tour,” she said.

Carnival is one of the biggest cultural events taking place annually on the small Caribbean island of Trinidad. Accordingly it is no surprise that citizens are against taking funds away from the celebration in order to pay the huge 10 million dollars in production costs necessary for Beyonce to perform there this February.

According to Theybf, Trinidadians are in an uproar at the fact that the government is reducing funding for the Carnival celebration taking place this February in order to afford Beyonce’s sky high production costs, which they argue are actually in upwards of 30 million dollars. Ybf quotes Trini promoters as saying:

’We want to discuss with TSTT the position they have taken to present Beyonce in concert so soon after Carnival and their decision to cut back and even pull sponsorship of Carnival events. We understand they have also cancelled [sic] the B-Square concert series at Woodford Square for this year. TSTT has contributed greatly to Carnival over the years and this is a surprise move. We want to know what their commitment to Carnival is,’ Fernandes said.

Fernandes also said he believes that the production cost of $10 million for the concert as quoted in the media to be lower than what the actual cost for such an event should be. Fernandes explained that it costs that much to produce the Soca Monarch final, which he did since the competition’s inception. So that when one adds Beyonce’s contract rider (expenses and other requests) and the cost to prepare the venue for the concert one is looking at a final cost of possibly $30 million, he added.

’They will need to prepare the venue to accommodate the 25,000-plus audience, they need to break even and when you take into consideration what may be on Beyonce’s rider, that can be an additional three quarter million or more,’ he added.

’We have nothing against Beyonce. We are just saying that it is insensitive to bring her at this time. It will affect all Carnival stakeholders because you know it’s not just a case of people forgoing fetes and shows to buy tickets. What about those who depend on Carnival to earn income? No patrons at events or no events mean that all service providers are out of a dollar. And what about the artistes that all came out in defence [sic] of bmobile when Digicel came into Trinidad? As a corporation of which 51 per cent is Government-owned, TSTT needs to provide answers to the cultural fraternity,’ Fernandes said.

Whether or not the issue of the concert is actually up to debate with governing officials is unknown, but it seems like Trini’s want no part of the queen Bey if it means compromising their Carnival. And honestly, who would give up a week of partying, cultural celebration and festivities for a few hours of Beyonce. While we all love Bey, perhaps now is just not the time for her to bless the Trini stage.

A live performance from the 12-time Grammy award winner will be available at the Web site by simply logging on and downloading their HD player onto their computer free of charge.

Once the Silverlight and OWL HD software has been downloaded, fans have the ability for the first time ever to view the concert from up to five different camera angles of their choosing (depending on viewers’ bandwidth). There’s a larger full-screen “Director’s Cut” view, as well as four other views where one can replace the main image at any time for a unique experience — all with just the click of their mouse.

The concert will take place Jan. 7 at 9 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. PST from The Apollo in New York.

Jermaine Jackson’s planned Michael Jackson tribue concert in Vienna has been postponed until 2010 says TMZ. Whether this means that the concert is actually postponed or perhaps never going to happen is a mystery to us. It seems like when all the talent you have booked for a show bails on you – it’s hard to actually have a tribute concert. TMZ has reported that the show is postponed because of “scheduling conflicts” and Jermaine that has issued an apology:

Citing scheduling conflicts, the event’s promoter, Georg Kindel, made the announcement today and said the concert would now take place in London. As for why the delay, Kindel said they “underestimated” the scheduling issues many of the top performers had.

As we first reported, Natalie Cole said she wouldn’t be there because she’s set to attend an event with the Dalai Lama in Memphis. Chris Brown and Mary J. Blige were promoted as being part of the event — but denied any involvement.

UPDATE — Jermaine Jackson, who was helping to put this whole thing together, just posted a long-winded apology/explanation, that reads in part, “Instead of eight weeks we now have eight months to prepare and some of the stars who would not have been able to participate in the Vienna concert, but expressed their wish to participate in this event, will be able to perform live on stage at the renowned Wembley Stadium in London in June 2010.”

One of our favorite girl groups, TLC, is returning to the stage after 7 years. The record-breaking, four-time Grammy Award winning group will perform in Las Vegas as part of a benefit concert hosted by Justin Timberlake. Alicia Keys and Ciara have been added to the line-up, as well, but we’re most excited about seeing some old material from T-Boz and Chilli, and hopefully a tribute paid to third member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes who was killed in a 2002 car accident. Until then, we’ll be watching these:

A member of the Wynn hotel staff told YBF that Wynn’s owner Steve Wynn is in talks to have Beyonce do promos/ads for the resort, as well as club appearances throughout the year-all part of a multimillion dollar deal.
