Being the youngest girl in my family (including my cousins), I always had a hard time getting my own things.  Whenever I needed new pants, my older sister or cousin would always have a pair that I could take.  When I was younger, I resented this.  As I’ve gotten older though, I’ve started to embrace combining peoples’ styles to make something cool.  That’s when my sister and I decided we should have a “clothes-swap” party.  Why not get a chance to test out more people’s styles while getting rid of the clothes that you no longer wear?

A great party consists of food, drinks, comfort, and friends.  Why not add clothes, shoes, and accessories to that list? A clothes-swap party involves everyone gathering at someone’s house and instead of bringing a gift, they bring some clothes or accessories that they no longer use.  Of course, these need to be clean and in good condition.  The point is to give people an opportunity to try other people’s things while also enhancing someone else’s wardrobe with what they don’t wear anymore.

An important part of clothes-swap parties is to have it in a comfortable environment.  People will be eating, drinking, and trying on new clothes.  The area should be spacious and organized in such a way that clothes are displayed well. It is a good idea to keep the party to just females so that people feel less self-conscious.  Keep some cameras around so that people can remember the cool ideas that they come up with!

The best part is: whatever is leftover goes to charity! It’s not a complete waste if nobody takes your clothes, because they will benefit someone else eventually.  Have a designated spot to put the rest of the clothes and then take them over to a good cause!

It seems like Riri’s fashion trajectory has peaked, and is now settled into a steady decline. As summer heats up so do, of course, our wardrobe choices.  Sweltering temperatures obviously call for fewer clothes, but where is the line between dressing less and looking a mess? Here are some signs that you or someone you know might need to tone down your summer sizzle:

1. You’re rocking a bikini top-but you’re not at the beach. No, I’m not saying laying around tanning somewhere besides the beach in a bikini is bad. Or strolling around a beach boardwalk. But walking down the street doing errands while partially in your bikini? Come on now.

1. She asks you to buy her something or borrow money early on in the relationship.
Unless you are fine with the idea of paying for your sex and the company of this woman, this is a red flag.

2. She wears a long weave down her back, cakes on the make-up and doesn’t have a job.
This is probably controversial for a lot of people, but we need to throw the political correctness in the trash if we are talking about saving you money, embarrassment and extended headaches. Trust me; if she has a long fake weave down her back, sans the job, you should be “extra suspicious” of her intentions. If you must, make sure you put these types under several stress tests to determine if they’re genuine or not.

After impressing her on the first or second date, take her to a few inexpensive places like Red Lobster and see how she reacts. If she reacts unappreciative or complains, she is either a digger, or may be too high maintenance. Don’t be a punk or weak for the panties and call the digger back. If you do, you may as well hire a dime quality call girl which will save you some money and more than a few migraine headaches in the long run.

I love love love it when a celebrity knows how to glam up something as simple and lame as a sweatshirt. I have a sweatshirt that I can’t live without, and despite its various rips and tears, I can still rock it with a pair of tight pants or a mini and heels and make it look like I really planned out a decent look. It’s that easy.

Ciara‘s a perfect example of this. She’s really just going to dinner or something, but she glammed up her sweatshirt and ripped jeans a bit by pairing them with a cute clutch and a nude version of those Christian Louboutin pumps we’ve been salivating over. She looks adorable!

IF you MUST wear underwear, make sure it is exposed and looks hot. Black bra straps should peak out from your tank top, if you simply can not bear to go nippley. Show your thong above your low rise jeans or skirt. Better yet, wear no underwear and expose your thong shaped tan line.

3) Itty bitty skirts get instant attention.

Be sure to walk into the party and loudly announce, “I’m sooooo drunk and I’m not wearing panties!” That will never be ignored. If you are wearing panties, take them off and hold them up as you make that announcement. Get on a table and dance. All other women will fade into the background and you will be the star.

Closet space is a precious commodity in most homes. Taking the time to get organized will give you more storage space, help you save time and give you a sense of accomplishment.

When your closets are organized, you can find the things that you are looking for in the blink of an eye. You’ll know exactly what you have in your closets and you won’t make the mistake of buying something you didn’t think you already had.

By following these tips, you’ll be able to get any type of closet organized and clutter free.

1. Remove everything from the closet.
Whether you are organizing a clothes closet, a linen closet or a craft closet, you need to know exactly what you’re dealing with. Take everything out of the closet and then clean down the shelves or vacuum the carpet. Cleaning the closet while it’s empty is important to cut down on dust and grime.

2. Sort your items into 3 piles: “Keep,” “Give away,” and “Throw away.”
Once you have taken everything out of the closet, look through your items. You probably have a lot of things stuffed in there that you don’t even need. Sort your items into three different piles. The first pile is for things that you want to keep. The second is for items that you no longer want but that are still in good condition. These items can be sold at a yard sale, given to charity or given away on a freecycle website. Finally, there are the items that are broken or stained, which wouldn’t be good for anyone and that you can just throw away.

3. Organize what you have left.
The “keep” pile needs to fit back into your closet, so you will need to organize it so that like items are together. For example, if you’re organizing your clothes closet, group similar outfits together so that you can find them easily. In your linen closet, fold all of the sheets and put them together, put the pillowcases together and group the blankets. Once you see all of the items you are going to keep, it is time to decide whether or not you need some additional organizational tools.

4. Buy some closet organizers if necessary.
If you have a lot of things that need a place to be stored, you may need to invest in some closet organizers. These can take the shape of multiple item hangers, shoe organizers, boxes, clear binders, shelves or baskets. Once you decide how many you need and purchase them, make sure that you assign a place for these items and what you will store in or on them.

5. Place the items back in your closet and stay on top of your organization.
Once you’ve eliminated your clutter and organized your closet items, it’s time to put everything back into its new home. Take note of where things belong. Each time you take something out of your closet, be sure to put it back where you found it. This way you’ll never again have overflowing closets.

Who said Madonna wasn’t a do-gooder? The star recently donated the clothes of her 3-year-old adopted son David to an orphanage in Malawi, his country of origin. Says People,

The Home of Hope Orphanage Centre was a beehive of activity thanks to the arrival of the surprise package, labeled “from David Ritchie to friends at Home of Hope – Malawi.” Included in the boxes were clothes, children’s books – with autographed copies of Madonna’s children’s book, English Roses – and an assortment of toys.

“These are clothes David can no longer use; they say he is quite a big boy now so he cannot use most of the clothes Madonna bought him immediately after he was adopted,” said a source close to the orphanage. “The children were excited to receive the clothes.”

Following in the footsteps of other designers with inexpensive lines, Phat Farm father Russell Simmons is launching American Classics, a less-costly clothing line for shoppers on a budget. However, instead of going the Target route (like clothiers Isaac Mizrahi, Patrick Robinson, and now Alexander McQueen), Simmons has sold his new line to family depot Walmart.

American Classics will be sold at 350 Walmart locations as well as on the store’s website. The line will be priced between $9.99 and $29, but most items are $15 or less.
