One of my favorite train wrecks Frankie has been out and about speaking to families and telling her story about how she has stayed clean for almost three years:

” People see me out having fun and loving life and think that I am back on that stuff, but thats not the case at all and I never plan on going back – – I love my family and love my life and dont need any of that stuff. Things are hard some times but I know too stay strong and focus on God and everything will work out. I am not on any Drugs people please stop saying that and man up.”

Too celebrate Barbie’s 50th Anniversary, Mattel enlisted the help of the Red Bottom king, Christian Louboutin, to design a line exclusively for Barbie.

The line will include Barbie-pink, red-soled Louboutin shoes that premiered in Barbie’s birthday runway show during New York Fashion Week in February, a Barbie doll and accessories collection customized by the designer, and a diary following Christian and Barbie during their wild adventures around the world.

And what does Louboutin do to remind the plastic goddess of her age? He says she has fat ankles. Good job, Christian.

According to WWD, Christian,

“knew there were certain changes he wanted to make to his three customized dolls, which are inspired by Nefertiti and Marilyn Monroe.

‘She needed great shoes, a thinner ankle and, to me, as I’m obsessed with feet, a foot more curved,’ the designer said.

His views on Barbie’s ankles, expressed through a spokeswoman in a WWD Fashion Scoop on Monday, caused something of a media and blogosphere frenzy. Clarifying his point, Louboutin said he was thinking of the technical aspects of shoemaking. ”

According to Louboutin, “Barbie’s foot has always been shaped less ‘curvy’ than the rest of her perfect body,” he said. “I just added my little science to Barbie and I’ve been proud to serve her. But fat ankles she didn’t have, she just could have had thinner ankles. That’s all.”

The three dolls, packaged in Louboutin shoe boxes, each come with four pairs of Barbie-size Louboutin heels. In December, Mattel will unveil Louboutin’s jewel thief-themed Barbie; in February, it will add a safari-themed Barbie, and for May, Louboutin designed a Barbie that goes to the Cannes Film Festival. The $150 dolls will be sold through BarbieCollector.com and at Net-a-porter.com, which is Mattel’s exclusive partner for this project and will be selling dolls for the first time. In September, both sites also will offer a Christian Louboutin Barbie shoe collection of 12 pairs for $40 a set.

As we reported on Tuesday, Mattel’s new and improved black Barbie line was released this week, but it is already being criticized by some African-American girls who claim the company went too far with the dolls associated “hip hop” accessories.

The New York Daily News showed the new “So In Style” trio of dolls – Grace, Kara and Trichelle – to several girls in New York to get feedback.

“Not all black people like hip hop,” said Barbara Mootoo, 15, of Manhattan, looking at Kara’s silver rope chain necklace. “They gave her a chain like a 50 Cent video.”

Tyaine Danclaire, 15, of the Bronx, liked Trichelle’s straight, long hair because it looked like “a weave,” but she thought the idea “was sorta racist.” She continued, “They say black girls are ghetto with the gold earrings, with the big bling; I don’t agree with that.”

Veteran Barbie designer Stacey McBride-Irby, an African-American mother of two, created the dolls so her kids could have toys that look like their neighborhood friends.

“Barbie Finally Goes Ethnic”

Mattel announced today their introduction of new Black Barbie dolls. The new dolls have fuller lips, a wider nose, more distinct cheekbones and curlier hair. Deemed the “So In Style” line, or S.I.S, the line features Kara, Trichelle and Grace who are three best friends in tune with fashion, fun and music.

And don’t worry ladies, the dolls come with “Aqua Curl” technology that allows you to curl, straighten and style their doll’s hair with a spray of water and hair styling tools.

Last July, Italian Vogue editor Franca Sozzani put out an issue featuring only black models to make a statement about the lack of diversity in the fashion industry. This year, the July magazine isn’t dedicated entirely to black models, but in commemoration of last year’s groundbreaking issue, a special July supplement is dedicated black Barbie dolls. Barbie first came out with a black doll, called “Francie,” in 1967, and in 1980 the first black Barbie doll launched. The new Italian Vogue supplement sounds like a cleverly orchestrated promotion for Barbie’s next line of black dolls, called the “So In Style” dolls. British Vogue reports:

The So In Style dolls … have been designed with more authentic-looking black features, including a new facial sculpt that has fuller lips, a wider nose, more distinctive cheek bones and curlier hair.

The Palms Resort in Las Vegas has opened a new suite inside the Fantasy Tower dedicated to the childhood icon to commemorate  Barbie’s 50th birthday.

Barbie turns 50.

The new 2,350-square-foot Barbie Suite costs $4,000 a night and has been designed like Barbie’s dream house, complete with pink finishes, a two-way fireplace and a Jacuzzi tub.

Designed by famed “Happy Chic” interior designer Jonathan Adler, the suite has a full bar, plasma TVs, steam shower, superior sound system, iPod Hi-Fi and Creston controlled TVs and drapes.

Barbie, the original fashion doll, turns an ageless 50 today.  Happy Birthday Barbie!!

Originally modeled after a German doll named Lilli that had been marketed as a sex symbol for men in Europe, Barbie evolved from a teenage fashion model in 1959 to a successful career woman. She took on non-traditional female roles such as astronaut, Army medic, NASCAR driver and presidential candidate years before real women did.

The first black Barbie was created in 1965, and have since produced 50 different nationalities with 26 different skin tones.

Remember this post when I mentioned how much I needed to have the one of those Barbie for Stila cans? Never have I been so attracted to such the packaging of a beauty product.

Okay, that’s a lie. A great deal of my make-up purchases have been because of the packaging of the products. Only true beauty fanatics can co-sign on that kind of addiction.

Get all dolled up – literally! – with Stila Cosmetics‘ new Barbie-themed collection. In celebration of Barbie’s 50th birthday, Stila and Mattel have teamed up to create a special line of cosmetics featuring the iconic doll.  The limited-edition collection will only be available at Sephora’s Fifth Avenue store and online at Sephora.com.

WWD reports:

The collection features four Decades of Beauty cans, each $40, with a booklet inside describing the beauty and fashion wardrobes for each doll.

1.  Ponytail Doll- celebrates the first Barbie, launched in 1959. It includes a red lipstick called Ponytail, a liquid eyeliner and a three-pan paper-wrapped compact with two eye shadows and a cheek color.

2. Malibu Barbie- which highlights the doll of the same name that launched in 1971, has a pale pink Lip Glaze called Malibu, a black mascara and a compact with two eye shadows and a bronzer.

3. Foxy Doll -which depicts the African-American Barbie launched in 1980, includes a Lip Glaze called Foxy, mascara and a compact with two eye shadows and a cheek color.

4. Jewel Doll- is based on the 2000 Barbie of the same name and includes a bright pink Lip Glaze called Jewel, a Multi-Effect Mascara and a compact with two eye shadows and a cheek color.

In addition to the campaign, Stila will launch a talking pallet with instructions on how to get the Barbie look,  which retails at $40.

In the all-out war over some of the most popular dolls on the market, Mattel finally gets control of the beloved Bratz collection.

Federal Judge Stephen Larson ruled that MGA Entertainment Inc., arch rivals of Mattel and owners of the popular Bratz dolls, must relinquish Bratz rights to Mattel, as their collection’s creator, Carter Bryant, was working at Mattel during the time he came up with the original Bratz designs.
