Hip-hop’s first couple, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, finally made it to the White House … only for a visit that is.

Jay and B visited the nation’s First Family at the White house on Wednesday (March 3) while in town during a stop on the “BP3″ tour, where he performed at the city’s Verizon Center.

A White House official said the rapper — alongside his wife/singer Beyonce, her mother Tina Knowles, singer Trey Songz, and industry veteran Kevin Liles — toured the residence.

Then later, Jay actually had a quick, unscheduled visit with President Obama, said the Washington Post.

In an interview with Interview magazine last month, Jay reflected on his rise from the streets all the way to the White House, saying it “was crazy” that he could even meet with these powerful people.

“For me, being with [President] Obama or having dinner with Bill Clinton … It’s crazy. It’s mind-blowing, because where I come from is just another world. We were just ignored by politicians — by America in general.”

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle are on the cover of the March issue of ESSENCE.

They spoke to the mag about education and how they deal with educating First Daughters Sasha and Malia:

President Barack says, “Malia will tell you, my attitude was, if she came home with a B, that’s not good enough because there’s no reason why she can’t get an ‘A’…”

Well, Barack did say that if a movie was ever made about him, he’d like Will Smith to fulfill the lead role, but does that mean that Will is fit to venture into politics, even off-camera?

His wife Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed that her actor husband is seriously considering swapping the big screen for politics and has his eye on one day making it all the way to the White House.

“Will is thinking about going into politics,” Jada said. “He once said he could imagine becoming a US president. He wasn’t joking, he was quite serious about it.”

But, don’t think that Jada is completely on-board just yet. On becoming the First Lady, she said, “It’s just not for me.”

However, Jada — who raises two children, 11-year-old Jaden and nine-year-old Willow, with Will — does enjoy engaging in politics. She wants the education system in the US reformed and is prepared to campaign for change.

“Will and I want to leave traces on this planet – and with that I mean more important traces than just films,” she said.

Just in time for the holidays, Oprah Winfrey will have her first-sit down with President Barack Obama since he took office as President.

‘Christmas at the White House: An Oprah Primetime Special’ will follow the talk show host as she visits the President and First Lady Michelle as they prepare for their family’s first Christmas at the White House. Oprah also gets a behind-the-scenes tour of the White House’s elaborate Christmas preparations.

“Christmas at the White House: An Oprah Primetime Special” airs Dec. 13 on ABC at 10 PM EST.

Guess Who GQ Named “Man Of The Year”?

CBS has reported that there is now a line of Ecstasy pills made in the image of the 44th president of the United States, according to Texas police who have snatched a batch off the streets.

A stash of the brightly colored tablets was found Monday during a south Texas traffic stop. Police in Palmview detained a driver after finding black tar heroin, cocaine, marijuana and several Ecstasy pills in the back of his car.  The drugs look like a “vitamin for kids,” police spokesman Lenny Sanchez said. Police say that other Ecstasy pills they found were made to look like the cartoon characters Homer Simpson and the Smurfs.

The 22-year-old driver is expected to face felony drug possession counts.

Ecstasy is known for a sense of elation, diminished feelings of fear and anxiety, and ability to induce a sense of intimacy with others.

Marriages have ups and downs. That is a fact. And our favorite power couple is no less immune to them than us. In an exclusive report made by New York Daily News, Michelle and Barack Obama speak openly about the rough patch they hit a few years back, just after the birth of their second daughter. Michelle was the one expected to bear most of the parenting burden that only intensified with the birth of Sasha. A nagging concern she wasn’t afraid to share with Barack was that he seemed willing to put politics ahead of the family.

“You only think about yourself,” she would say. “I never thought I’d have to raise a family alone.” Barack, convinced that whatever time he devoted to his career would ultimately benefit his wife and daughter, shrugged off the criticism.

“Like a lot of husbands,” said one of her friends, “Barack couldn’t figure out what her problem was. All her complaints about him being a slob, he thought they were petty. It was ‘Why are you bothering me with this crap while I’m busy changing the world?’”

“It’s ‘me first’ with him, and that’s how it is with all men,” she said. “For women, ‘me’ comes in about fourth. That’s not healthy, and that’s not the way I’m going to live.”

“I love Michelle, but she’s killing me with this constant criticism,” Barack confided to Madelyn (Toot) Dunham, the white grandmother who raised him. For the first time he wondered aloud, as Michelle did to her mother, if they were going to make it as a couple. Story continued below…

But when they discovered their daughter Sasha had been diagnosed with meningitis, followed by the devastating events of Sept. 11, 2001, the Obamas were brought closer together than they had been in years.

Still, the time would come again when Michelle would reach what she would later describe as “a state of desperation.” Michelle delivered an ultimatum: If Barack couldn’t find a way to pursue his political dreams and make more time for his family, he would have to choose between the two.

In time, Michelle made the conscious decision that, in fact, she would be the one to adjust to the circumstances he created – and not vice versa. “This was the epiphany,” she said. “What I figured out was that I was pushing to make Barack be something I wanted him to be for me. I was depending on him to make me happy. Except it didn’t have anything to do with him. I needed support. I didn’t necessarily need it from Barack.”
